mods for containers to make them more freefly friendly?
andy2 replied to andy2's topic in Gear and Rigging
I've been wanting to mess around with my sit now for awhile, but feel I shouldnt on my current rig, an older vector 2. All I've done recently is pop into a sit and hold it for a few seconds then get out of it. What mods can I (my rigger ) do to my container to make it more freefly friendly? (keeping in mind all I will be doing in it is a sit). I'm worried primarily about the main "tuck tab". Its very flimsy. Can my rigger install a longer/stiffer tab? Also would installing new velcro be a good idea (its not that old actually) or is there anything else I can have done to strengthen that? What else? Thanks! -
its awesome isn't it. What a great feeling to be flying relative (somewhat in my case) to others while moving so fast horizontally. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

reminder to check stolen gear database on classifieds
andy2 replied to andy2's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
what about tagging a little note on the classifieds homepage that reminds buyers to check to make sure what they are buying is not stolen gear. This will encourage sellers to list serial numbers instead of having to be asked for them, and will spread awareness that stolen gear databases do work to catch theives. Links to the stolen gear databases would be nice too. Just a thought -
I thought with less foward speed you would have less lift and therefore descend faster than in full flight. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

ive heard knock off about a dollar or so for each jump, but then again the first jump on a canopy is like the first mile on a car. It has to knock off at least a hundred or so, since it isnt "brand new" anymore. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

check out the RWS website for some good info, and a few threads in the search engine of this website. I believe at this time it can only be installed on RWS rigs... bummer... --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

I was looking for an excuse to check out CSS in the near future. You think this would be a good time for a someone with ~40ish jumps (depending on when it is I'll definitely have more) to come out? I'm looking foward to eventually meeting everyone at CSS regardless. Blue skies!

well that works good, but at 40 jumps I only really feel comfortable giving very small front riser inputs on final. But probably great for when I get another hundred jumps under my belt. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

what size is the reserve and whats your WL? Did you have trouble landing it? Having to compensate a built in turn bc of uneven brake lines would be basically the same thing as flying in quarter or deep brakes (whatever the amount of toggle input you have to give). This would seriously affect the glide angle and flare ability, correct me if I'm wrong? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
And I would rather spend that money doing actual jumps.... but to each his own...
hehe, point taken, the reality is that I will never have enough money for an hour in the tunnel bc I keep spending it on jump tickets. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

in anybody's opinion that wishes to chime in what do you think is a better way to bleed off altitude if it looks like youre going to overshoot the target? S turns or half-3/4 brakes? I guess it makes a difference in the canopy youre flying but is there a general rule of thumb I can follow? I like S turns as it tends to build up a little more speed than brakes obviously, and the landing feels a little more "firm" after doing a few S turns to get my spot on. Comments? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

Im trying to scrap up enough money to spend an hour in the tunnel. Am I going to be competing anytime soon? No. Will I have more fun skydiving bc I hopefully learn to fly my body better? Definitely. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

so what was the other object? Curious... --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

I only have 40 jumps, but a bunch of things stopped happening to me after a dozen or so jumps: no more extreme fatigue, no more burned out feeling, no extreme ear pressure, etc. My body just sort of got used to skydiving. I noticed the students that were close to my progression agreed on this as well. I hope after a few more jumps you don't notice it anymore. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

sometimes faster, usually on the way to the DZ. Otherwise I usually have no need to go fast, whatever I'm going to can wait 2 minutes. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
Speak of the Devil and he shall appear......Turned for my downwind at about 900 feet and noticed my Digi reading 1600......time for a new battery.
Oh, I hope I didn't jinx it. Thanks for the info, I feel a little more secure in my digitude usage now. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
