1. I thought tandem speeds were only slightly higher speeds, due to the drogue just being released (the whole "trapdoor" thing). --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
2.
im only useing harness.. unless otherwise neccassary.... as if i was too low.. or too high.. then i might.. just might use risers..... but im trying to master it with 100% harness
This would be a lot harder to do on a non cross braced canopy, or one that tends to have a shorter recovery arc? The fact that the VX tends to want to stay in a dive longer helps you use only harness input? Do you feel harness input is somewhat cleaner and produces a better swoop than front risers? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
3. I'll tell ya what I get with the "smoke pants" when I get a chance to try them in a week or two.
4. I have a rather stupidish question about setting up 180s and 270s. Ok, what is a 270, its a 90 degree turn more than a 180. Given that you're carving both (which appears to be the choice for the majority of jumpers working on swooping distance) why not instead of turning 180 degrees to get ready to swoop (keeping in mind you've set up with the flow of traffic so you'd have to turn 180 to land with the flow of traffic on a 180), rather you would simply turn 90 degrees and START a 270 that would finish with you swooping in the direction of everybody elses final landing pattern (presumably into the wind). Doesn't it make more sense to instead of turning 180 flying a bit into traffic then making the dive? The 270 seems to be the safer of the two, how much more dangerous is it if you keep that first 90 degrees (the difference between that and the 180) nice and carving and finish out the last 180 (what your 180 degree carve would be) strong. Sorry if this doesn't make sense, hopefully someone can understand what I'm saying and set me straight if I'm understanding this wrong. Thanks! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

7. are you implying anything with your quotes around the word waterproofing? Is the waterproofing kit ineffective or does it do the job, in your experience? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

UK BASE in 12 hours

those are all first editions. Did they make second editions? Always the second editions are worth maybe 10-30% of what a first edition is worth. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
9. agreed, wait until all that beta software gets slapped around on the experienced jumpers first. (my main reason for not buying a neptune now, well that and $). --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

13. whats the point of having a bridle that long? Why doesn't 9 foot bridle work for you (isn't that whats suggested for WS?)? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
14. I only have 58 jumps but at 25 jumps I started jumping a 1:1 WL and trust me it is very nice. You'll be suprised at how fast even a 1.0 WL is. If all else fails go with your instructors, they'll know you best!
15. tandem is easy. Go out to your local dropzone and tell them you want to make a first tandem jump. It takes about 15-30 minutes to get briefed, less sometimes! Go out and JUMP. You'll have a blast.
16.
I wonder if it would be possible to correlate the number of skydivers and fatalities, and the number of auto drivers and fatalities.... I'd also be curious to know how many of either type of accident involved being under the influence.
there would be more people SPLATTING while skydiving than driving. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
17. if you never use it you should never have to sharpen it. Just use it for an emergency. I find it weird when I see people randomly using their hook knife to cut things in a non emergency setting. But what do I know!? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
18. ah ok, I just can never really get situated with the altimeter on my hand. I was thinking either leg strap or chest strap, to keep my hands open. But if the chest strap = sternum fracture, I don't want to think of what it would fracture if it was near your crotch area. Maybe an alti watch would be a better bet, how good are they for helping display what alti youre at for swooping? (i know eyes number 1). I just hate the dexterity that minuses from wearing an alti on a hand mount... [/bitch] --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

21. I have a container that would be suitable for belly flying, would it also be suitable for flying camera videoing tandems? I know a lot of people like to flip over into a sit to get the opening, but what else would the container have to withstand that it doesnt while flying RW stylee? Thanks!

23. Can any altimeter type (specifically the sapphire) be mounted on a wedge? Or are there only specific types that are able to do this? I am thinking this will be especially helpful for hop/pops (leave your hands free under canopy). Thanks!
24. i've heard WLing discussed applicable to exit order a time or two. Most often when its a low hop/pop, but once or twice on altitude jumps. Although mainly its what type of flying youre doing that dictates exit order (but I agree with you that everything should be accounted for, great or small). But what do I know!? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
