  1. On May 27 our dear Shirley Pelland (from Perris, recently moved to Hawaii) got married! Groom: Warren Wolfe. Talk about a surprise! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  2. Uh, that's a prosthetic leg, Gene. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  3. This tandem was actually sobbing in the doorway and continued crying on exit. She kept shaking her head all the way down. Her favorite continual phrase from doorway 'til opening: "OH MY GOD!!" When she landed I asked her what she remembered. She remembered she LOVED IT! Nothing else. LOL... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  4. It's currently official for both the schools at Perris. Not sure if it has been implemented for the rest of the DZ yet, but it's in the works. The policy makes alot of sense. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  5. Where my grandfather had a cabin when I was a kid. Just up the road from where I am now...
  6. Newbie = Priceless. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  7. It's called "The Reverse Diet" and it is VERY successful. Heard about it on a nutrition channel and did a little study into it back when I was in school. Take a look at Tricia Cunninham's story on the above web page for example. My personal experience was that I studied better and clearer, slept better, and was in excellent shape when I subscribed to this style of eating. My motto was "eat for what you are about to do". In other words, eat a large healthy breakfast because you are entering the active part of your day. Eat a light supper (evening meal) by 6pm as you are entering the quiet time of the day. You're sleeping in a few hours, where the body doesn't need all those calories. Food for thought. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  8. NSL article HERE. Names mentioned...
  9. Ditto for runways 32 and 33 at Boston Logan... Got the same visual flying into Oakland this past week as well. Thought the plane was going swimming there for a moment! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  10. Yes, there is a lot of good stuff on this site. Glad you found out about it!

  12. Very cool. I know team members of Perris Fury and Elsinore Gravity were part of the [said] 21 in the formation. Anyone else know the remaining skydiver's names? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  13. Well, I see this thread -did- get moved from the Women's Forum to SC. I hope that constructive dialogue can still happen without thoughtless bashing side-railing the topic. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  14. Exactly. And if this priest believed in the entirety of the bible he'd have known this and offered it. Not "Oh you can leave, but remember you took a vow....". Bullshit! I, myself, was in an abusive marriage and held to my christian belief that divorce was -not- an option. You married for life, no matter what. My pastor, bless his soul, saw beyond this. It took quite a bit of convincing (by him) to make me open my eyes to the entire belief. Emotional abuse is just as destructive as physical abuse. Yes, work together to heal and understand what is right, if at all possible. However, when one party continues down the destructive path they've chosen...then allow distance its due and get out. One of the most difficult decisions of my life, but I'm alive because of it. Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  15. Wasn't sure what to title this thread. In fact, I'm sure this will get moved to 'Speaker's Corner' at some time. However, I put it here to reap some intelligent discussion instead of the blather that can happen in other forums. I've been watching the new reality show, "On the Lot". They've aired only one episode so far (last week) and was intrigued with the idea (dated a film-maker at one time). I wanted to know more about the contestants and went to the web site to view some of their shorts that got them there. I started with the 'Film of the Day' and viewed it this morning. It has stopped me in my tracks. Can people's 'faith' in their religion (and fallible leaders) be so unshakable that they would ignore their inner voice and allow things to go so far? Wow! I'm crying inside for this woman and what her leader did to her! The closing scene is numbing. "The Sinner" ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  16. There used to be 2 until one of them decided to retire! How's those motorcycles Sparky? :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  17. According to Pat Works skydivers in that era (in his group) would deploy around 1,000' "unless they were close". They'd go for another point if they were, -then- deploy. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  18. Used to collect them. Had a couple of displays going before moving. Then somehow, in the move, 1/2 of them got lost. Never really got into it again after that. However, the ones I still have are nicely displayed. They get polished every 5 years or so... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

    JP's service

Ah, the life of a cameraflyer! It was great to see you at the service on Thursday, Robert. Thanks for the stories, too. I was also amazed, as Gareth wrote, how JP's girls were smiling and running around taking care of everyone else. They looked like little angels and I was impressed so much by their poise. Amazed, also, that priests cry. (never been inside a Catholic church before) The stories around the BBQ Thursday night ranged from the serious to insane. I'm sure JP was right there laughing with us. Even when -he- was the butt of the joke. Man, his Byron friends have a sick sense of humor sometimes, I found out. In just the few hours I got to spend with them I could tell that the "Byron Love" was real. Thanks for welcoming me into your fold. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  20. Just the right size for my barbie doll! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  21. Used to. No longer does. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  22. Yes! Congrats, Jim! Your tandem student had a blast that jump, too. She, and her family, kept repeating that they couldn't believe they'd been part of this piece of history with you this weekend. Thanks for being there for us, to teach...to mentor...to believe in each and every one of us as we enjoy the skies with you. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  23. Mystery Science Theatre 3000: The Skydivers: "Did the actors do their own skydiving?" "No the skydivers did their own acting!" ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  24. What a wonderful touch this will be to the service. I am able to take the days off work and drive up there for the Thursday service. If anyone is driving up from SoCal let me know, maybe we can carpool. I'll be leaving Wednesday afternoon (after work). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  25. Just got the news. My heart is ripped. What a dear, dear friend! Huge hugs to your twin girls. You were SO PROUD of them and loved them dearly. They were the spark of your life. Rest easy, brother. too shocked and numb with disbelief -----
