  1. Hi alternate FFF- Wouldn't the whuffos say we all are a little freaky since we jump out of (say it with me now) "perfectly good airplanes"? I have to say my loyalty is with FFF #1 since he flirted with me already, but I'm glad you're with us anyway.

  8. I took the static line course. The female jumpmaster was the best. She had a very calming manner during those first panic fueled jumps.

    Small World

Speaking of a small world, here is an "are you out there" request, and I have been wanting to do this for sometime and this thread seems to be the perfect place for it... Before I did my first tandem, over 6 years ago, I had a good mate in j.c. that skydived. I guess you could credit her with my initial interest, but anyway, her husband had gone out on westpac shortly after they married and she and I became really good mates during his absense (she called me her "surrogate husband" (and don't go there guys and gals, it wasn't like that!!)). Long story, even longer, I was just wondering if ANYONE on the forum has ANY clue as to whether or not they jump with this person. She may have given it up, but I highly doubt. So if there is a woman named Collette at your dropzone, could you find out if she went to Mesa j.c. in San Diego around 1995-6 (and who's life fits the previous description...husband(possibly ex) in the Navy during that time). If so, could you drop her a hint to check out this thread on the forum and get in touch with me. I think that would be cool!! Anyway, thanks for your help in advance! Cheers, Arohanui, B NZPF A-2584

    Small World

Hi everyone! I'm in Vegas, and the Alladin hotel rocks-free internet access! I'm waiting for my husband to come back from a meeting, so I thought I 'd tell you about the neat thing that happened on the plane ride over here. I'm sitting on the plane bored, and thinking that that riding in a plane isn't as much fun when you can't jump out of it. I look 2 aisles up, and I can see a man reading a book, and there's a black and white picture on the page of a skydivier. Judging by the size of the book, I think, that's The Skydiving Handbook! My mood perks up and I'm quickly out in the aisle to chat with him, annoying the flight attendants along the way.

    I Like Gas.

Zennie- Too bad you don't have a woman on the floor saying, "jump me, jump me"! Unless, of course, you wife says it, and then I would say-what a stud you are!
  13. What does she look like?
  14. I know it may sound biased, but I have talked it out with EVERYONE I have ever jumped with (quite a few and in a couple different countries) and, well, basically the way it was laid out to me (and my belief) is.... Jump CYPRES or DON'T jump (not at all, just with any other AAD)!!!!! Cypres' are proven (ask anybody who jumps)! So, good luck, I know it is a tough choice when considering funds, but do what is right.... Buy Cypres!!! Cheers, Arohanui, B NZPF A-2584
  15. I'll try & bow out of this gracefully as well, since I've already violated my general rule of avoiding political discussions. I like doing it with people who I know won't get offended. My Dad & I have debates where people watching think "Oh, my God they're going to kill each other" but it's totally not personal and we both enjoy and get a lot out of it. As a general rule, we think a lot alike, but one of us always takes a devil's advocate position just to keep the other on their toes. Carrie: If you go back and re-read my post about monopolies, I think you'll see that we're not too far apart. The devil is in the details, of course. Frank: While I wouldn't put things quite the way you have, you are correct that when politicians cater to the whims of the highest bidder, democracy really doesn't exist. That's why I think real campaign finance reform is a must. There are terrible atrocities committed by both governments and businesses. Governments trample on people's freedom in the interest of the "common good". Businesses often see people & natural resources as mere means to an end... things that are as disposable as your empty pizza box. Listen to a manager talk sometime. We're not human beings anymore, we're "resources" -- replaceable cogs in the wheel. So the fact is, there's a lot of injustice & suffering in the world. I think most, if not all, people here want to see that end. The disagreement is how we get there. Religion anyone?
  16. They're closing more DZ in Holland every day. Last week about 50% where closed, and today a lot more DZ got closed... There are only 1 or 2 still open, and those have regulations. One 'out' landing and the DZ get's closed.... So because of that, only ppl with square reserves, at least 200 jumps and B licence get to jump (if they can get to a DZ that is) And the DZ that are open, are also worried they might get closed down pretty soon This sucks bigtime, cause from the looks of it, the whole situation will only get worse, and it will probably be at least two or three more weeks (perhaps months?)untill the Foot/Mouth thing is gone and everyone gets to jump again. I HATE THIS SH*T...
  17. Oh ok cool. Well just for reference i am the really tall (6'3") red headed guy with the binoculars and a camera :) I seem to have made friends with a few people so thats cool. Can't wait to start my training when school lets out and i have the $$$$

  20. yeah, i've seen the actual video tape of this. mr' "oshit" broke his back it so happens. these dumbshits could be the living advertisemsents for either airtec or the audible alti folks
  21. i don't think belly fliers out first should be the solid rule. i come from a dz where the reverse is foten true - for the simple reson that the freefliers are open a good 30 seconds earlier. unless the winds are smoking up top, those who will be open first are best out first. freefliers ahead of an 8way might well open up a full minute ahead of the rwfolks. after all, who takes longest in the door and screws the spot. also, rw fliers are falling belly to earth (i.e. they can see where they're going more easily) and they tend to break lower and track less than say a head down peelout. everyone needs to be looking down by 5grand. i have never had an rw flier track past me under canopy but have had several ffer's do it. i say get the lawndarts out of the way.

    LOW

wellllllll, ok so i've had a low pull too. i'm at the couch freaks boogie with all of 60 odd jumps. drunkenly i had agreed to a first load three-way freefly the night before. well, a "friend" manifested me without awakening me. in my dreams i hear 10 minute call for otter load 1. i say fuck those people and continute to snooze in my tent. well, about four minutes later my "friend" stops by my tent to let me know that i am on said load. in very hungover condition i stumble out of the tent, find some sandles and my rig (forgetting to turn on the cypress - luckily as it turns out) and head toward the main tent. i am putting on my rig as i get on the plane, failing to get a gear check, and promptly take a nap to altitude. at 13grand we pile out, do our thing and break. now, i heard my first dytter warning, but not my second. i'm waiting for my 3grand alarm and it doesn't come. meanwhile, the shadows of the building are starting to move with my track. i get groundrush and pitch..... in a track.....just as i hear 1500 go abeeping by. needless to say, i saddle into line twists and as my hands catch my curling risers i see 1000 on my altimeter. luckily i was able to kcik the twists out of that docile canopy and it just so happened that i had benefitted from my best spot of the boogie, landing right next to the tent that by all rights i should have still been in. if my cypress had been on.... if i hadn't pitched when i did.... i had no business in the air and am lucky to be alive to share this chanced tale. low pulls are dangerous and not for newbies. i got very lucky . . . . . peatmoss
  23. hey folks, here's a story that will no doubt be getting around quickly. it happened to my brother yesterday in playa del carmen, mexico. while skydiving on vacation, a four-way drifted out to sea. those who pulled high made it back. two who pulled at standard altitude did not. their stories are very different. one braved a water landing and was rapidly retreived by the quick thinking jm's who had absconded with water skis. my brother, however, decided to save as much of his gear as was possible. he chose the helopad of a cruise ship, a quarter mile offshore. he nailed the "H" and landed safely, albeit tearing his canopy on surrounding apparatus. he had some difficulties explaining his presence on the ship and had to deal with various authorities, but walked away uninjured. this playa del carmen first did cost him a canopy and a case of beer, but his rig, reserve and other gear are fine. mexican news stations should be printing stories of this feat today. please share your out landing stories, peatmoss

    Ohio Dropzones

If your gonna be in Ohio go to Aerohio. They have a caravan, otter,a suped up 182 and they are in talks to get a super otter :) The staff is super nice and there are alot of instructors and coaches if your newer. I've jumped there for 4 years and can only say good things.
  25. Weather wise Zennie is correct, Eloy has the most consistent weather…. You just don’t want to be there in the summer. Although they are not close to the airiport (Phoenix), they may have a shuttle that will come and pick you up. Eloy entertains allot of European and Asian jumpers, so they are used to that type of request. Flying into Orlando, West Palm, Ft. Lauderdale etc. in Florida will give you a choice of about 6 (or more) different DZ’s. One of them will be willing to come pick you up at the airport.
