When you order most parachutes they are mostly cut by machine so that all you do is type in "i want a 135" or you can have it cut a 5" parachute. Some of the canopy manufacturers would have an actual parachute that was only like 3 foot squared. But i dont know that it'd be an affordable option for a toy.

sounds pretty crazy to me OTOH, wasn't there a stunt where this guy jumped without gear and put it on in midair? probably not an option in BASE Jumping...

Here is the deal. I am 17 years old and I cannot find a place that will teach me how to jump. If anyone knows of anyplace in the United States that will teach minors with parental consent please reply to this.

Son of a bitch. Now it’s quarter to 7 in the morning and I’m STILL awake, despite having a tad too much beer last night. I’ve been up since around 4:30, when I woke up and noticed my room glowing and flashing like a strobe light, and all these sirens are going off. Looked out the window and thought, “Oh, how wonderful for me, building’s on fire” Apparently I was last to know cause I walked out into the crowd and they’re all like “dude, you just wake up?” “um, yeah” Thinking now would be a perfect time to get my ass to the DZ, but wait a minute, weather’s shit (as I stood for over an hour in the rain). Sorry for the bitching. I’m going back to friggin bed.

Jump # 10 was my favorite. It was my first clear and pull from 3500' and the clouds to the south were about 1000' and the sun was kinda setting as well. Got out made the pull, and came in with an unassisted flare and stood that puppy up for the fisrt time. The DZO came up later and said congrats you are know offically a skydiver!!!! Oh Yeah! Pete

Since I have seen so many people perform hook turns to their own disabilities, I think this "scares" me the most, as I wouldn't want to ever do one that was out of my capabilities. I have done everything else on the list in my short time of jumping, and I would have to say, that they aren't at all "scary", but they make you think about what you are doing more, and whether you would do it again! so, stick to your guns guys, regardless of how experienced you are, stay within your experience level. Sometimes I work two weekends in a row, so I pack at home a few times during that period just to stay sharp, and to try to learn a little more about my canopy. Packing at the DZ is a great time to ask others questions about gear, but at home there is a lot more time to inspect and study the thing... Frank

my guess would be that a leading cause of premature deployments would be having a boc pouch with a mouth that is too loose, so IMHO having a tighter mouth WOULD reduce the risk of a p/d. Frank

Is anyone familiar with BASE jumping in Alaska? In a travel brochure I found reference to lots of really tall cliffs, including a "5000 foot Suicide Leap." Also references to lots of tall bridges. I saw the conical(round) canopy posted elsewhere. The H20 its called. Maybe this is dum question but its only 19FT. I thought normal conicals were like 26-28Ft in Diameter. I also thought that you wanted a bigger canopy in BASE. So would this be ok for Bridge Day? Some ones gotta have some answers or opinions on this.

First I should say hello everyone!!! Some of you may remember me from a long time ago, and to the new people that I have not yet met a fair hello to you!!! I just did my first night jumps about a week and a half ago... Oh my god are they amazing..., that is going to be one of my most memorable jumps ever!!! I'm by no means an expert as I only have 4 base jumps but: I've seen people just almost total skydiving rigs with just mesh slider and 42 in pc. They even kept the dbag on! I would do that though. You can find old base rigs for around $200 without a canopy. If you can find someone to lend you something big you'd be set and safe. That was how I did it.
