Hmm.. I kindof liked Cutaway. Pointbreak and Terminal Velocity had better plots though. But, I'm with Tigra - the skydiving cuts from Fandago where tops. Gotta check it out! There are some clips on Fandango Cheers, NewGuy

Never Listen to the nay sayers they don't understand the true human potential. We all want those certain things like a soulmate and the other(sometimes I think) fallacies of life but there are so many things to experience, how can someone limit themslves I'll never know. Live YOUR life to the fullest to YOUR STANDARDS whatever it may be. It's always good to see fellow people feeling the same frusttrations but fighting the norm and obtaining true freedom. Live life, be happy it's yours do what you will you and only you truly feel consequenses(at least when your single and without children), so live. RatherBJumpin76

Military Jumping vs Sport jumping IMO is comparing apples and oranges. A lot of military jumpers don't do it because it's fun, but because it's a part of their job, and just another way to get to work. Military jumpers once they land don't get to relax after their jump sometimes their jumping with 100 lbs of gear and once they get on the ground other professional soliders are waiting to kill them. Ever see reguler skydivers exit at 300' beause the odds of having a malfuntion vs being shot under canopy are in their favor. Military Halo sounds like fun but what happens when they have to do it for real at night with a extra 100 lbs of "stuff" at a location they've never seen before, where's there's a possiability of landing in tree's, water and getting shot or captured and no ones from their DZ is going to look for them or take them to the hospital. In one of the skydiving magazines there was a story about a airborne get together with old timers and new guy's The new guy says I've got 75 jumps the old fart says he had something like 10, but then he ads they were all made during WW2 at Normandy, Sicily, etc. The new guy immediatly realized the guy with 10 jumps had a lot more experience than he'll ever have. When military freefallers get to jump with their halo rigs and without their extra work gear, they use the term "Hollywood Dive". Military jumping and sport jumping are not the same except for gravity. The military folks even get paid to jump but I wouldn't want their job. I'd rather pay my money, and get to choose where, when, and who I get to jump with. R.I.P.

Wow, that sure seems like a good subject turning into a bad converstation. I'm still a student and new to the skydiving world; however, my impression is that skydivers are skydivers and for the most part an extremely good natured bunch of people who are out to have fun - basically one big family. Looks like your friends are probably lean more to the military family side than the skydiver side. Who knows. No offense to the military people - as in their own different way, they too are a bunch of great people (I have the upmost respect for them - regardless of which country). I can see how it would really rub someone wrong who puts their life on the line for their country being told by someone that a civilian course (AFF) has greater merits than the military. Questioning the military's ability is possibly throwing a low blow at the best of times... regardless of right or wrong. I tend to think that if they are really pissed off, there must have been some merit to what you were saying. Cuz, if you were totally full of it, they would have just laughed at you and let you live a world of disbelief. I wonder what motivates the friends to which you refer to jump - job? Or do they love it? At the end of the day, were all out just to have fun - looks like you're closer to that goal! Cheers, NewGuy

Good luck Yooper - hope you have a good one. Where I live, if it ever gets sunny it seems to be during only during the week, and the rain daemons arrive for the weekend. Very bummed out! Here's to sunny skies and lots of jumps this weekend!

My parents were hated it at first then slowly started to understand the sport. My Dad was ready to jump..... Then I had a mal and my whole family excpet my brother is againt me doing it. I don't get it, my Dad has a 99 Cobra that every know and again has seen over 140mph, and my brother has a street bike, but all I want to do is jump out of an airplane and the family goes nuts! Maybe its due to lack of knowledge.

To Tracy..... _________________________________________________ I've been reading everyone's post's for a fue months now, so I thought I'd introduce myself. ________________________________________________________________________ Tracy, I’m gonna assume that you are still here with us reading these posts. Maybe you are just sitting back, like you were before, and will come back into the “sky” with us when you are ready. That’s totally cool. Maybe you’re just pissed at the treatment you received by some ...no right or wrong here, no blaming anyone, just your feelings…. (So anyone reading this……. Don’t freak’n flame me, I’m not taking sides)… and who would not understand that reaction. You could also have said to yourself, that it’s not worth the effort, so “whatever”. Your original post said that you were three jumps away from achieving 200. I know that you are still jumping, and I for one would like to know if you made that 200th jump. So, how about it?……………………… Did you make your 200th?

I've jumped out of three and I thought the Skyvan was the coolest. It was my first tandem tho so it doesn't really count. Between a Caravan and a 182, I'd have to say the caravan

I've tried to do an initial login several times but after I enter the id and password I end up with a blue box and no way to 'send/enter' or complete the process and have to 'back up' or just 'eXit'. My email is johntbrasher@mindspeing.com and I'd like to reply to some of the posts. Blue Skies

I was waiting for three fjs to come in so I could go up for my last paper pull then a clear and pull. One lady was around 150-170lbs the JM was yelling flare flare flare flare then she hit w/o flaring at all. We waited a few seconds and she never moved so I taped the other two students and then helped the paramedics put her in the ambulance then went and did my tewo jumps. My first jump I had a really bad landing, but was ok. Then I had a stand up landing a swore to myslef that I love this sport even though the risks can be high!

Being stressed is such a relative term…. What is “trauma” for you may be a easy to handle for me. There are no guidelines or rules to go by. You know yourself better than anyone. If you are feeling so overwhelmed by what ever it is that is causing you stress, then you need to check yourself…….. Take a beak and get some perspective. Skydiving requires, no, it demands your full attention to every detail. If your mind is not clear and able to concentrate of what you are about to do, then I would suggest that is your signal to take a break. fruce

It's only good advertising if you use the product... I'll never eat hotdogs again.......

In my short time in this sport, I have had the opportunity to travel to alot of different DZ's. And unfortunately in that short time I have also had the misfortune to witness the death of a friend in this sport. Its still unsure what exactly happened, but I will say that he fought all the way down to save his life. As far as dealing with it, well after spending 13 years in the military, I have seen alot of things and been in situations that most people should be thankful they will never have to see. So when this happened, I was one of the first ones on scene. I knew instantly that my friend did not make it. I made my peace with this by knowing how much he loved to jump. And that he would not want anyone to stop this sport because of this. All I know is that he is eternally in the sky where he loved to be. Besides, when its my time to go, I cant think of a better way, sure beats a senseless car accident or something.

...and since parachutes used to be made from silk (untill the Japanese abruptly cut off the supply in 1941)the featured photo has my vote for the DZCOM centerfold shot of the month! However, nylon rules so if you get any pics of the elusive nylon worms casa, I'll have to recast my ballot. Pete

Back home about seven years ago I used to fly with what they called themselves in Canada the "fat boys" trust me you may fall like a tool box but that's a good thing, put the man in base. Keep up the fall rate. Sorry It's me boo, forgot to sign in after too many beer shouldnot have bought a 24, should have bought two 24s. lol

Oops, that was me, Josh (Dirtsucks).

I agree with Viking. I wasted like $35 bucks on that game and it sucks more shit than a vacuum up my ass. Try this - lie on your bed, arching with your front half hanging over the edge. Put a fan pointed up, on the floor pointed towards your head. For added effect, wear all your gear.

I think it is a still picture of a underground water cave. With something lying on the base.

I was in a dz not so long ago, where they had students jump in a pretty windy day, i was talking to my girlfriend commenting my toughts on that, when 20 minutes later I see a jumper being dragged over and over, for about 30 or 40 feet, needless to say, the student was badly injured. My toughts on the suing skydiver are these: yes , she fucked up, nobody told her to jump. dzo's should pay a little more attention to people manifesting during windy days. any flames ??
