  1. What in the hell does that have to do with Skydiving?

    900 and below

Well not all of it sucks...its free..and at nite it can be very cool...Question Can i use my mil. parachute expierence towards a sky diving license...I really am not sure of stuff like that. I just got the itch and am thinking going higher and falling further..Any info would be appreciated
  3. to clarify, -28 means that I subtracted 28ft from my previous canopy. Has nothing to do with wing loading, but since you bring it up, right now I am at about .86 to about .9 on the 220ft2. Only prob is that it is F-111 and is quite beat up (bought it that way, but didn't realise just how much as I was also leaving the country that month and focused on other things) Cheers Stacy. Thanks for the info. Cheers D, I knew we had rental gear, am just looking for opinions. I can tell this post may disappear into oblivion by the end of tonight. Cheers, Arohanui, B NZPF A-2584

    900 and below

Curious as to what yall think of us army airborne jumping at 850 and below. This is as low as some base jumps... at least from what ive read..and with all thier equipment...I hear the british paras jump at 200-300. Just as dangerous as base or not???
  5. hey all, you may call me retarded for this one ("okay, you're retarded." - beat you all to it), but I figured I would ask my own dropzone and as you are my dz away from my DZ, I am asking you. I fly a REALLY big ass floaty thing now (220ft2). I have flown a 195ft2(1x) and a 180ft2(reserve ride). In about 40-50 jumps I am looking to downsize. My question is... How much of a jump is considered appropriate?? Without answering my own question, I realise it all matters on comfort in ability. But, what sorts of jumps in sizes have you all made, say from off student status to now (as far as sizes per year/per 100 j's/per salary bonus$$, per whatever!) My most recent jump was -28ft2. Before that, it was -15ft2. Could I look at jumping to a 180ft2? Or lower? My ideal wing loading would be around the 150-170ft2 mark. I am trying to consider a canopy that is going to last me the longest amount of time, for the least amount of cost (i.e. if I can move to a 165ft2 and keep it for the next 1000 jumps), is this smart, or should I just make incremental jumps and never mind the $$ involved. Okay, all you "geeks" and D licences out there, fill me in with your knowledge!~!
  6. hey, does it count if you have sex in the mock up that you practice exits in? In my home DZ we have a full scale replica of a C182, and well, when we would have sleep overs, it makes a great room away from the packing mats (even though it is completely open!!) So, on one of the sleep overs my partner and I decided we were going to have a bit of a play, and well, you know the rest. I will agree with jumpergirl, it was worth it. Especially since she will start jumping for her A licence there soon and will have to practice her exits out of her old 'dungeon' of pleasure!!! What an evil thought for being so far away, but hey, she can have fun with it and NO ONE ELSE KNOWS!!!!!(yet!) Cheers, Arohanui, B NZPF A-2584
  7. It is quite a rush, *Anon*, isn't it? Try at the end of the run-way at night while there are planes flying over head &/or landing. That's quite a fun venture as well. Anon #2
  8. I'm posting this anonymously, just so no one will know who they are reading about!! I got to fullfill one of my long standing fantasies this weekend ... and I'm still so excited about it that I just wanted to tell someone ... and who better to tell than my friends here!! I got to have sex in the jump plane this weekend!!
  9. So I have baby duty today...Sunday and I could not jump on Saturday due to family in town.It has been almost 2 monts since I have jumped from altitude... I decide to take the 6 month old out to the DZ to see some parachutes land. Also I have not been in weeks due to crappy weather in CA over the last month or so...I drop off my rig to get a needed reserve repack and I get at least 5 offers to babysit while I go get some fresh air!! I rent a rig, borrow a helmet and alti and do 1 solo while Bella sits in an airconditioned trailer with some of the staff. I must honestly say that Elsinore is truely "The friendliest DZ" in the country.. I can't tell anyone enough the number of reasons to visit there over Perris if you come to CA... Just my $.02 Blue Skies...
  10. Try registering and telling us where YOU jump. Might make the search a bit more efficient. Cheers, Arohanui, B NZPF A-2584
  11. You probably didn't see the post last weekend (it may still be floating around), but this very topic was discussed. The concensus was NEVER chase anything in the sky for retrieval. Take note of its' landing (or probable landing) and tell someone when you land. The X factor for catching YOUR perfectly good canopy up on something like that is just too risky. I would have been one of the ones that would have laughed, and thought it was cool, but still suggested you NEVER try it again. You got lucky this time...chalk that one up. Now, just use the story to impress whuffos, but to anyone who jumps, illustrate the necessity to keep yourself under a GOOD canopy as often as possible. Don't know how much CRW experience you've had, but unless your comfortable with things being in your lines, best not let them get there in the first place!! Said my piece. Arohanui, B NZPF A-2584
  12. I don't know what you guys are talking about, my "Pack Like A Pro" has naked women all throughout it. Maybe I just got a copy that slipped through the cracks! Jeremy
  13. Hi!, I just started jumping (30). I'm looking for other girls to jump with. Where do you jump

  16. Ok skreamer, I knew I would get a bite, and BOY did I get one. Now here is yours... Firstly, so ONE year out of how many you won. Okay, match that up to the total and you will see that you are still last (yes, I am scratching here!!

    Guilt

Boy, would I not want to be you! I would have to go with Skreamer on this one...He brings up some good points. Sounds like you have all the bases covered as far as motherhood and wifeyhood go...just let hubby know that even though you love your sport, it obviously doesn't RUN your life. And as far as the guilt thing goes, try (without making too much of a big deal about it) a little reverse psychology on him...everytime he goes to do something express your concern for it and how you wish he would stop. If he is a smart man he will hear that it is what you hear when he does the 'guilt' thing and stop. He will begin to support you in your skydiving love. Otherwise, you will both have to give up what you love, and in the end, that may be each other. Point out how thorough you have been in your life, and then go from there.
  18. Well, you obviously don't know all the scandals surrounding your country's sports. In the final of their "big" test (can't remember what it was for...World Cup, whatever) the Kiwi Black Caps needed just one run, ONE RUN to win off of one bowl. No runs would draw the test. Well, rather than face the humiliation (like REAL sportsman) of losing to the Kiwis ONCE AGAIN, the Aussie cricket team bowled the last bowl UNDER ARMED and drew the test. In what will forever live as the most digusting displays of sportmanship (next to Hansie's) the Aussies will forever be considered as UNDERHANDED in EVERYTHING they do from now on. Sorry guys, but you brought it on yourselves! Cheers, Arohanui, B NZPF A-2584

    Talismans

yeah, I got one that made a lot of sense in NZ, but I guess down here makes me look like "a bit of a poser". My jumpsuit is the EXACT same colours as the SJ Sharks NHL Ice Hockey team. I even went as far as stitching their 10th Anniversary patch on my leg. They are my chosen skydiving "colours" forever more...so I will always have it on my rig, my canopy, (try to get a reserve that is all teal), and my jumpsuits. It all started on my second jump. I thought I would invest in some goggles and when asked what colour I wanted...I went straight to the best colours I could imagine...the Sharks' ones. So, in the US it is a bit "geeky", but I assure you there are others with probably even more "retarded" choices for their colours. And, I now jump with my NZ greenstone hangin' around my neck. Gotta have the Kiwi magic with me always! Cheers, Arohanui, B NZPF A-2584
  20. Okay, picture these two lip locked!! For the Avs comment alone...you are forgiven. I HATE the Avs...actually the only good thing to come out of the Avs is Mike Ricci, because he LOVES it in SJ and he is a kick ass player. I hated to admit it when he was still with them, but I have always like them. Ok, the truth on the Belfour thing. I USED to love him. Shit, I even have a Sharks jersey with his name on it (which gets HEAPS of boos at the Arena when I go)!! I used to think he was a god in the crease, but when you go to a new team and then start baggin' your old team because "their fans have no respect for ice hockey". That hurts. He was LOVED for his two seasons in SJ, and he had NO REASON WHAT SO EVER for making that comment. D. Sutter would have made a press release about it when it happened, but he just figured that if Eddie didn't know a good thing when he had, he never would have. so that is why he is bagged so harshly. If he had gone quietly, all would have been good. To bag fans, is asking for it. I actually don't mind M. Modano too much (TOO MUCH). So, you are forgiven. I would take you out for a dinner and make it official, but I don't know if I can handle the 11 hour drive right now. It will be interesting to see skreamers response now. MMMMMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! There, a nice big kiss and make up! Cheers, Arohanui, B NZPF A-2584
  21. Okay, Now I gots to hurts somebody!! Firstly, to the "so-called" South African that posts from England...I wasn't in NZ when the whole debarcle over poisoning happened, but that doesn't mean I don't have an opinion on it. After 6 years of hearing the Kiwis drill it into me...I started to get a bit passionate about it. NO, they were not "afraid", and NO they were not "intimidated". Explain to me this then, Mr. S.A., why is it that every time...EVERY TIME you have played the Kiwis for the Tri-Nations (EVERY TIME) you have lost, and not just by a little either. Sure, you can beat the Aussies when you meet them, but hey, ANYONE can beat a team that comes from such an "under handed" (note the specific reference) country. Yeah, they may have had ALL 3 world "thingies" going into the Olympics, but hey, even OJ can buy what he wants, so why should that stop the Aussies.
  22. you know you're a skydiver when you stick your left arm out your car window into the wind to assist you in left turns.
  23. ...Skydiving for sex with your partner? Never - I'm a horny little bugger! Once/week - She/He can be bloody persistent Twice/week - I tend to win more than He/She likes 3 times/week - Can't decide which I love more 4 times/week - Gees, I am not a machine...I have to recover sometime! 5+ times/week - You GO!! If you are having sex more than 5x/week...you deserve to go skydiving!! Always!! - Let'em please themselves...I'm of to the DZ! Arohanui, B NZPF A-2584
  24. sis, I laughed my arse off when I saw this back at the top. I knew I would get a bite. No matter how big it was.
  25. Okay, I think the lesson here is... Never piss off Miked involving anything with history...he is WAY too touchy!
