What the hell did Tee say????????????????

Cheers for your contribution, Stacy. That sounds pretty much like what I expected. Anyone else do the University thing? Fill me in. Cheers, Arohanui, B NZPF A-2584

hey all, I am just wondering what people who have completed, or participated in, Skydive U's courses (who cares where) have thought of them. Did they help dramatically with your flying skills? Do you fly your canopies better? Did you do the wind tunnel, and if so, what was that like? - helpful or just fun! This is more of a fact finding mission, 'cause I am thinking of doing it (may still do it regardless), just thought I would ask any alumni for their perspectives. Cheers, Arohanui, B NZPF A-2584

Personally I enjoy the fear. After a month or so having the butterflies on the way to the DZ is an awesome feeling...Kinda like the fist time. Just remember how much fun it is and that everything will be OK as long as you stick with what works and be SAFE!!

I got the same blues! For once we have a warm winter with hardly any snow in Alberta Canada and I injured my damn knee on a reserve landing/impact! PS round reserces suck but it was better than the alternative!

Dont be afraid to become humble...it is a whole different style and it takes a little to get used to. It's really fun so it's not a very daunting task to learn because you are having so much fun. Get some coached jumps and learn the different safety procedures, there are a few things that you really need to be aware of. Go for it!!!

Hey, thanks man. Thats pretty much the rig i jump, and i just started my sit flying exits. They're a little shakey but im getting better. matt " rook " nelson is going to coach me as soon as im off student status but i really want to study up on it, u know. thanx again man.

cyberskydive, While I appreciate your advice on "original content", I think you misunderstood my question/sugesstion. I maintain specific dz sites on a *volunteer* basis. Therefore I am not interested in spending time developing dynamic "original content". My suggestion is more aimed at adding branded click through content to other sites. I.E. a table of current headlines, branded as dropzone.com content (ie, "This week at DropZone.com"); and clicking through to dropzone.com. My thought is that this would build awareness for dropzone.com and of current issues such as the health insurance one discussed here. Skydivers are a vain lot, they frequent their home dz photo pages often to look at themselves....why not take advantage of that? I think this is effective advertising for dropzone.com as well as good dynamic linking for participating sites. If you've never seen this, check out isyndicate.com for an idea of how it works. Regards, Scott

There was no photoshop at all. Russian girls are all crazy! I am a webmaster of www.borki.ru, so I know that I talk about.

I wasn't that crazy after all :) I did the following: Put the country/region on blank and submitted the form. Then as this is not allowed I got the form back with an error message. So I fill in the country but then the password boxes have mysteriously disappeared :)

Sentinels came out in the early 60's. At that time they would open the reserve container at the preset altitude (1,000 I think) unless the jumper turned them off. The FXC is a much later AAD. I've trained students with both and have had (and heard of few problems). All are generally very reliable with proper maintenance and operation. I've got a KAP-3 which is probably the all time most popular AAD every manufactured. They were used by all Iron curtain countries and were manufactured for many years. They were so reliable that the Soviets never used static lines but just set the timer for 3 seconds. There was also an option for altitude/speed activation. They are big bulky and nearly indestructible. Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166 AFF-I S&TA

I *_TRY_* not to bite when people say things like that about our weather. WE have more days of sunshine than any other Australian capital city except, believe it or not, Hobart... Remember our weather may not be the best at all times BUT we did get rid of Jeff...:-) (Aussies will understand) Ooroo Mark F... Weather's MUCH better but the office doesn't have a jump 'plane...:-(

IT ALL GOES BACK TO THE SECOND GRADE, I WAS SITTING ON THE GYM FLOOR AND OUR GYM TEACHER WALKED IN AND STARTED TAKING ROLL CALL. FOR SOME REASON HE HAD SAID THAT HE WAS SKYDIVING ALL WEEKEND. ( THATS ALL I REALLY REMEMBER ABOUT THE MOMENT ) NOW ME BEING 7YRS OLD, THIS MADE ME THINK MY GYM TEACHER IS THE COOLEST GUY IN THE WORLD. AFTER GROWING UP A LITTLE I BECAME OBSESSED W/ FALLING, FROM TOP BUNKS ONTO PILLOWS, FROM MY SECOND STORY BEDROOM WINDOW ON TO A TRAMPOLINE, BUNGEE JUMPING IN WISCONSON DELLS AND SO ON...TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, SUMMER OF 2000 I WAS WATCHING A TELEVISION SHOW CALLED, " ROAD RULES" AND THEY WERE GOING SKYDIVING. ON THEIR HELMETS THERE WAS A BUMPER STICKER THAT READ 1-800-SKYDIVE. I DECIDED TO CALL THAT NUMBER AND GOT HOOKED UP W/ SKYDIVE CHICAGO ABOUT 1 HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES FROM WHERE I LIVE. I PLANNED A TRIP OF 8 OF US AND HAD A GREAT TIME. THE JUMP WAS AMAZING AND THE PARTY WAS GREAT IN ITSELF. WELL IM HOOKED AND I PLAN ON QUITTING MY JOB WHEN I RECEIVE A RATING AND TEACHING FULL TIME. ITS A DREAM THAT I ONE DAY HOPE TO LIVE. BLUE SKIES, CHRIS

Sangiro, Nice look for the new site. First, let me commend you on the service you do to the skydiving community. In particular, I think the news on your site is a terrific way to keep up to date. Have you considered providing this domain specific content as a partnering service to other sites. This could help build traffic & content for DZ.com as well as help make other sites more interesting. I maintain web sites for a a few DZs, and would be really interested in any thoughts you have on this.

I must admit I was a whuffo as well, but with more of a purpose. I wanted to know the real reason why people did this. What I mean is...I knew they must do it because it is cool, and they all seem to be able to do it again (thus eliminating the fear factor for me) so I found a brochure and hung it on my refrigerator. My sister caught on quickly and went 1/2s with my dad for my 21st birthday. (I tried to ring a good mate to join me, but he bailed. He is now a firefighter and can't imagine anything more adrenaline pumping than crawling into a room full of flames). So, my 21st birthday came and I kept finding these little parachute people all over the place. (I didn't catch on). Then we drive for 40 minutes and pull up to an airport. I figured it out when the sign in the parking lot said, "for tandem students only". Well, that one was over the US/Mexico border and I remember thinking and saying to people when I landed, "Man, I gotta do that again." 5 years later I was graduating from university in New Zealand and my folks came to see me. They asked me what I wanted for my grad pressie and I just told them one thing...$$ for my skydiving licence. They were only too happy to oblige because the NZ$D was at an all time low and I was asking them for only 600$US. So, 300$ apiece and they were off easy. (another sibling asked for a car, and another a loan to start his own business). I did my S/L course in the process of 2 months (weather in NZ is quite unpredictable) and have been jumping EVERY weekend since. I have already talked one more person into doing it full time, she had done a tandem and loved it. Now, the only problem is finances (join the rest of you!). Once I get a job, I have already worked it into my monthly bills. The only way to go!!! Thats my piece, Arohanui, B NZPF A-2584

I have made over 60 exits from a cessna and I have been caught on the handle a couple of time, but luckily it was spotted by observant divers and JMs, so no worries.
