Low turns do kill (in the extreme). They end up hurting mostly. A guy at my home DZ is now recovering from a broken back, fused ankle and broken arm because he jumped (obviously added to his problem and judgement) hungover and pulled a low turn. Shit happens in this sport. He is now going back to a bigger canopy. Smart move. Let's stick within our abilities guys. Don't get cocky out there. No one want to come to work on monday talking about how they witnessed a death or dismemberment. KISS - Keep it SAFE Stupid!! Cheers

Newbie sucks!! Post random responses! Skydive!

I once was asked by my partners mother, "does it hurt when you're falling?" "What happens if you hit a cloud?" Other than that, typical whuffo shit. Cheers, B

I would have to agree with what someone said under the original announcement...that we all have our home DZ, but there is NO POINT in slamming someone else's business on a world wide database that is trying to promote some integrity and commaraderie in the sport we all love so much. Fuck politics and personal vendettas, GIVE ME ALTITUDE!! And ANYONE who jumps, or jumps with me is considered a FRIEND!!!!!! Peace to your fellow SKYDIVER, NZPF A-2584

Oz is nice, don't get me wrong...BUT NZ DZ's are better!!! But then again, I am a little biased! I wish I could be jumping this weekend...ATL weather for the next WEEK...TORRENTIAL DOWN POURS Phuq it! NZPF A-2584

PLFXpert...you had mates go to the WANAKA boogie? If so, who were they? There was only one true yank there, curious if you know him! There are several DZ in NZ and am surprised you know someone who went to WANAKA...cause there were only AT MOST 25 people there. I knew 20 of them. Arohanui, NZPF A-2584

This is not to ascertain which DZ you think is better/best, but to remember some of your most FUN times. Where in your career do you remember a particular fond memory/jump/boogie, and what and where was it? For me, New years boogie 2001 in Wanaka, New Zealand. 5 straight days of jumping, beautiful scenery and good times. All of the people I started jumping with AND a few new ones (Got to do a jump with a NZ diving legend! A huge thrill for me at my status then). Several AWESOME dives. Pulled the most pins (so far) during that boogie. Late nights filled with libations and OTHER! Heaps of memories, better than the tee shirt I took away. I was on the first load of the boogie and the last! Ahh, what a memory. On the rainy days, that is what I remember. YOU?

You're not too new, their just too stupid!! No really, you're correct. We all have our "home" DZs, but that doesn't mean that even a DZ that is in the same area, or close by, needs to be the target of unproductive, unsportsmanlike conduct. I would have to say that it probably started with a "skygod" and his limited views on how things should be. People like that shouldn't go to boogies. But, then again, maybe I am too new and that is my opinion.

Coming from a family of recoverers...CONGRATS on giving it up. As for the other issue of feeling alienated... as far as I am concerned...you jump out of a plane with me, you're like me. If you don't want to drink, it doesn't mean that we still don't have something in common. I would have to say it is a bigger challenge for someone to give up an addiction and allow themselves to be surrounded with their nemisis than to strap on a parachute. So, you are right, keep up the jumping and avoid the "skygods" and their bullshit reasoning on how to ENJOY the sport to its fullest. If you're alive tomorrow, you enjoyed it plenty. Good on ya!

Why the hell do you think they call it an "in flight door"? I certainly isn't just for jumping out of, it filters the air faster if you need to crack it open on the way up!!!! As someone earlier said, some people are proud of theirs. I have met these people...the challenge comes in making THEM sick! Then you're a professional!!!;-)

i know that this isn't the thread for it but why am i anonymous. i'm a registerd user and i'm loged on. any help would be welcomed

well done for getting sober and i'm sure you'll stay that way. personly i do drink and swing from the one or two beers in the evening chatting with mates to the get totally brain dead drunk. most people at my DZ drink but there one or two who don't. no one give's them shit for it and they hang around as much as the drinker's, in fact they say they have as much fun at the parties just from watching all the antics of the rest of us. And then reminding us about it in the morning. remember that the skydiving comunity is wide and varied, but we are all skydivers who should support each other. those that judge would do well to remember that.
-
This was an ugly blemish on an otherwise PERFECT place for skydivers and enthusiasts a-like to hang out. Let's make it stop here. We are here to have fun guys, let's not forget that at any cost. well said sangiro, all hail the chief!! B

Skyhawk and Omri, get the fuck off this thread. It is a serious subject and you 2 are acting like kids. Make your own thread so you 2 can play someplace more appropiate.

Hey, 'Sis, Pammi, everyone, thanks fer the positive feedback...it's nice to know I have half a clue how life works. And perhaps to expand a bit on what I was saying and what you all contributed - an anecdote first - I was talking with a kid who recently started jumping, and he was mentioning how it seemed to calm him down and give him focus - PLFXpert might find his type familiar - he describes himself as "hyper" and while he's not really that bad, he does bounce around a little like ADD kids do. I replied that "skydiving does tend to focus the mind," being facetious, but I immediately realized how true it was for me, and I guess for a lot of you. This part of skydiving, that it absolutely demands all of your attention for about 60 seconds, must be what makes it so theraputic. I mean, it seems like a lot of us who've been posting on this thread have plenty on our minds, and a genuine break from it all is a good thing. Much better than the old chemical fog. Nothing like that 60 break, with a healthy dose of perspective on the side!!!

Nope, you're the one with the smelly habit, why don't you go stand downwind. Hey, I'm a considerate guy, I do the same when I've farted (sometimes).
-
ha ha, now somehow I don't think that is ever going to happen... /s

Hey Diver123. I've jumped mostly at Beaver Oaks at Estacada. Going to start flying there this month for free jumps. Damn, I will be exposed to all thoses toxic gasses even more! Perhaps I will have to obtain an oxy mask with a bailout bottle for emergencies! See ya the Mollala later on.

One time we had someone let one go that was so bad it actually caused one of the other jumpers on the load to throw up. He got it on like 3 jumpers and then hung his head out the door for like 3K and dry heaved. It was the absolute worst i've experienced.

you forgot the ending: Blue skies, black death - ooohrah reserve!

Where is the "list all" button in the new auction? It looks as if the new auction is a step back from the old :-( -Morten
