  1. Those are pretty cool looking, and I'm thinking just local updrafts or downdrafts. besides, do we actually have microwave power yet? I assumed that it was still just an idea or maybe at the prototype stage. MB 3528, RB 1182
  2. wahoooooo! I just saw this on tv. and the best part is that this is about the best possible outcome... if we would have killed him, or never found him, I think things would be worse off for our troops. MB 3528, RB 1182
  3. I'd say that someone becomes a skydiver when they have done a true solo, i.e. like a hop and pop, and that they have shown that they will continue in the sport. The only reason I wouldn't call someone who has done one tandem but they claim they are gonna sign up for the 1st jump course very soon, and they say they are gonna continue in the sport, is because lots of first jump students say that. but how many of them actually continue on to be licensed skydivers? very very few. and btw, kel, how U doing? 4. CASA definitely. big tailgates hold all sorts of possiblities. not only big groups, but stuff like raft jumps. MB 3528, RB 1182

  9. wtf? its been several hours and ivan still hasn't jumped on this? is he sick? dead? MB 3528, RB 1182
  10. I get worried when I hear people with really really low jump numbers start using front risers on final because it "gives me more flare, so my landings are safer." (not implying anyone specific in this thread, but generally) I mean, jumping a stiletto 120 would probably give them alot more speed, therefore increasing the flare power even more. Doesn't mean its smart to do it, IMHO. MB 3528, RB 1182
  11. I believe that one of the malfunctions you can get is that your pilot chute might go over the nose, and get caught in the slack lines while the chute is still jerking around if you let up real quickly. This could cause some bad things, like an unstoppable turn, or just a wad of crap in the front of the canopy. anyways, its a sorta fun/scary thing to do if you are high enough and clear of other canopies. oh yeah, newbies, you probably don't wanna do this, you want to have some experience under your canopy before you start intentionally messing with it. I've done it twice and it was really fun for me, but it really does make your heart skip a beat when you start to fall backwards/down MB 3528, RB 1182
  12. uhhh it would be pretty hard for something to go wrong in a powered parachute so that you'd need another parachute. You open and check the parachute on the ground, and so you know it doesn't have a malfuntion. Not to mention you can't do flips or rolls in a powered parachute, so it can't get wrapped around you. MB 3528, RB 1182
  13. That would be great. I'd wanna be the gunner. MB 3528, RB 1182
  14. Yes Nero is a very good program. There is a free version that lets you do some of its features, and you can pay for the serial number that lets you get access to the rest of it. It is like 50 bucks though I think, but you get what you pay for. However, I'm sure that someone on these boards has some sort of free serial number MB 3528, RB 1182
  15. thats so true... I don't think it would ever happen in the real world, but we can always hope MB 3528, RB 1182
  16. I hope I see some of those pictures in the "show me your bum thread" MB 3528, RB 1182
  17. I havn't seen a pro-track up close, but does it have a little speaker where the noises come out? (like the ear hole on a cell phone) if it does, just put some masking tape over it. Or flip it over inside your helmet so the speaker faces the outside of the helmet, not your ear. MB 3528, RB 1182
  18. if you do your 100th naked like you are supposed to, I bet a lot of the dz.com guys would show up and jump with you MB 3528, RB 1182

  22. Didn't hotmail try to do that last year? Thought I heard something about that. anyways, I would go for yahoo. My hotmail account became unusuable due to like 100 spam messages a day. MB 3528, RB 1182
  23. what I've always wondered is how loud is it in there? Can you talk while in "freefall" or is it like the real thing? MB 3528, RB 1182
