    I've had the same thing happen to me on a desktop computer. was shutting off during a storm when lightning struck very close, and the mouse shocked me... seemed to hurt much more than normal static shocks. also our fire alarm that hooked into the electrical system did its test mode 10 second alarm thing. it startled us very badly. since your phone was plugged into the charger, you had a direct link with your houses electrical system. of course, since your charger usually converts the volage from 120v to something like 12v or 9v, thats probably what you got shocked with. it may hurt but it won't damage you at all. hell, i've been shocked by 100,000 volts before and i'm fine. is your fire alarm use batteries, or does it run off the house current?     why not just jump like crazy over the next few weekends until you have 50 jumps? your profile says you have 30, and so 20 jumps isn't all that hard to do over 3 or 4 weekends. MB 3528, RB 1182

    if i ever need to add up my freefall time for a rating, ill just go back into my logbook and figure it out. sure it will take an hour or two, but its better then spending a few minutes after every jump calculating it and writing it down. plus with freefall time, you can usually guestamate it and be close enough. its not like you have to be accurate to the second.     I always wear a watch... in fact i usually get a tan line where my watch is. I just like knowing what time it is, and i never have to look around the room to find a clock. MB 3528, RB 1182

    I think its pretty damn funny. especially after he disconnects the passenger, they all just watch calmly as he hits the ground. and i honestly thought TMs had some sort of quick release thing on their harnesses for the longest time, till i actually asked one. MB 3528, RB 1182

    I'm actually lutheran, the first REAL protestant religion. (angelican doesn't count because king henry made it just to divorce his wife) I'm also a little agnostic. the only thing that makes me agnostic is the fact that scientists studying the brain, have discovered that there is a "god section". whenever people start praying or have a religious moment, its that part of the brain acting up. now is that god making the brain do that, or is it the brain making up god? I mean, look at all the societies around the earth... the vast majority of them had a god or gods... why is that? its because part of the human mind has to attribute the unexplainable (like lightning) to something... and that something is a god figure. from that, the society builds up their religion. we laugh at some religions, but who are we to say which one is right? or maybe none of us are right. and don't give me that "you must have faith" as a valid response... its a cop-out MB 3528, RB 1182

    ok good i wasn't the only one who caught that. hail storms are cool... as long as you aren't outside... or your car isn't outside... or your dog... or the hail is big enough to damage siding. but if none of that is true, then they are cool. oh and worthless trivia, the biggest piece of hail ever measured was found in kansas... it was much bigger than a grapefruit.     i think that the requirements in the US for helmets say that you have to wear one while on student status. after you get your A though, its up to the DZ rules. my home DZ for example, has you wear a hard helmet till you have 50 jumps. MB 3528, RB 1182

    I've heard of people attaching a bag of flour to their legs, and poking a small hole in the bottom corner... then the flour leaks out and creates a white trail... its basically a cheap mans smoke, with the added benefit of no fire, heat damage, or discolored gear. never seen it done though, so i don't know how well its visible from the ground.     one DZ near me is $21 to 13.5k. my home dz just raised prices, i think its $16 to 10.5k now. MB 3528, RB 1182
