Yeah, except the TITLE says otherwise: "Buffett blasts system that lets him pay less tax than secretary" And as I claimed YOU made no reference to RATE till much later. You can attempt to change or modify your answer, but the data is laid out for all to see... The data shows you to be incorrect. Nope, check post 175 of this thread. That is post 182. In fact, you replied to MY post where *I* mention rate. Then you make the post with the article an NO mention of rate. Sorry Sir, the evidence does not support your position here. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
-
Actually it did not I don't see anything but you making a comment and then linking to an article that attempts to make the claim that he paid LESS IN TAXES. I defiantly do not see anything about RATE anywhere in there. Sorry, you are just not correct. As for my "anxiety to respond". Notice it was a good 24+ hours later that I bothered to reply to you. So, if a guy did a good level one you would give him his license? We clearly are just going to disagree on this. Then since you took that test you should know that the Country was not founded till the Declaration and Constitution were signed. If you passed the test you would know that the US has a long history of capitalism. GWB is not running again. You know, that test you took should have said something about term limits. Mine is about 125/mth. Get better insurance. I can give you the name of a great agent...Bucky. Not really. Maybe you need to take that test again? Ask about the process we use to elect a President. Hint: It is not popular vote. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Considering how bad of a leader you think GWB was...You think just handing the keys to the country to anyone without a proven track record is a good idea? You can claim BO has a track record, but in many really important areas he has ZERO experience. Like defense, and foreign policy for example. BO has been in Congress only two years. In that time the only committee he was head of never met. He was a good civic leader, but that is a FAR cry from running the largest entity in the World. Honestly, how much of your liking BO is really just partisanship and hatred of GWB & Co.? My problems with him? 1. Zero foreign policy and defense Exp. 2. I don't agree with his stance on the 2nd and desire to reenact the failure that was the AWB. 3. I think the US was founded on capitalism. That means that a market based approach should be used to solve problems to include the health care issue, not trying to change what the US is. (I realize that you being from Canada you feel otherwise...Fine) 4. Almost all of his plans somehow involve spending govt money to fix problems. That money has to come from somewhere...He talks very little of cutting costs and as manager of a business, you know that cutting expenses is the fastest and most sure method of reducing a deficit. Still, I think he is a smart guy. I like the fact that he wants to leave Iraq now (hey, they want us gone...Lets go). But the balance sheet between BO and JM weighs to JM for me. But, as for no test for leadership and just hand him the keys....That would be like saying that we should just take an AFF student to level 7 since he did a good L1 IMO. Or, its easy if you had written your stance better the first time without the not so hidden slams. I don't think anyone denies that he paid a lower RATE than his secretary...But it seems the article you posted seems to try to spin it like he paid LESS in taxes. That's just flat wrong. I don't think anyone would disagree that the poor invest less than the rich. I would like to think you would agree that people who create jobs are good for the economy as a whole. So why you may think that the wealthy are getting some favor...In reality, they are getting taxed *completely* fairly...The exact SAME from the same source. 1. No, but you tried to use it to claim "So the rich get privileged treatment. There's a big surprise." When in fact there is no privileged treatment. Both him and his secretary's investment income is taxed at the same 15%. 2. Which is also not true. Both have their investment income taxed at the same rate...the same rate you and I also pay. Again, they both pay the same rate on the investment income. And unless she makes more than 100k (which is Buffets salary) then she does not pay a higher rate on her earned income either. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Higher RATE, not more in taxes. Your article's title is intellectually dishonest. 17% of 10 Billion is a ton more than 30% of 60,000. 30% of 60,000 = 18,000 17% of 10 Billion = 1,700,000,000 "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
-
No, the people who invest and build the economy get taxed on their efforts. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Yes. They use the source to determine how much I owe. Currently, my investment gains are only taxed at 15% versus the higher rate from my income from employment. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
-
Yes, but I get taxed on the income my accumulated wealth makes. To me, rich is when you make enough off of the income from your accumulated wealth that you don't have to work. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

I think he is talking about how you think it is ok to insult others based on race. You are doing the EXACT thing you claim others do. It is interesting because you are so quiet in person. We are both wrong...It was Oct 2003. In the exhaustive brief, the CDC analyzed scientific evidence regarding "bans on specified firearms and ammunition, restrictions on firearm acquisition [including waiting periods], firearm registration and licensing, concealed-carry laws, child-access-prevention laws, zero-tolerance laws for firearms in schools and combinations of firearms laws." The verdict? "The Task Force found insufficient evidence to determine the effectiveness of any of the firearms laws or combinations of laws reviewed on violent outcomes." The task force also concluded that "firearms-related injuries in the United States have declined since 1993" despite the fact that "approximately 4.5 million new firearms are sold each year." The "Declined since 1993" is the part I remembered. If it is such a risk, you should be able to provide piles of data. But, what stops you from grabbing a knife, or a baseball bat in your fits of rage? I only really care about my neighborhood. It is the place I live and do not stick my nose in other groups problems. Sorry, but you are the one that keeps bringing up the "normal" guy that snaps and starts killing. That is not a feeling *I* have. You seem to fear guns. That again is not a feeling I have. You are entitled to your opinion. But your opinion really does seem to be based in emotion, not fact. And your opinion does not trump any one else's opinion. Especially when our opinions are backed with facts. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
-
And your opinions are not? I am sure you know that gun bans at places like schools have not stopped violence from happening there. Then the only way to have a true gun free society would be to have metal detectors at every doorway in your opinion. Appeal to emotion. What is going to stop a meth head from strangling you to death? Besides a meth head is not exactly a law abiding citizen. You have failed to prove your ban idea will reduce violent crime. And in states with carry laws violent crime went down after citizens were allowed to carry. The CDC issued a report in 1996 that they could find NO reduction in gun crime in areas that had a ban in place. With over a million more guns in circulation every year you have not been able to show a marked increase. Places with bans, such as DC and England are seeing a rise in gun crime. CCW holders are LESS likely to commit a crime. Every time a State enacts carry laws the anti gunners claim there will be 'blood in the streets'...Yet that never happens. In fact, violent crime often drops. Your best argument is purely based on emotions. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

You could also say that there are few western civilizations with the population of the US. You could also say that there are few western civilizations with the population density of the US. You could also say that there are few western civilizations with the criminal element that the US has. There are MANY more factors than just number of guns. For example, the US has more people below poverty level than Canada has total. A friend from Norway and I were discussing this....Norway's total population is less than NYC. So there are many more factors than brought up. Blaming guns for gun violence is like blaming spoons for fat people. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
-
Nothing ever seems to change. You remember the CDC said that they could find no link between gun bans and a reduction in crime? If guns create danger....Then why have there been killings in "Gun Free" zones, but not ONE at a gun show? It would always help to give the name of your team and the names of the other members. Edit: Cherie and Karl Schuch's new team, Wind Shear (Rob Fields, Szilard Kristof, Chris Heinan on camera), will have its debut at the Karp Cup 2008. The new lineup has completed three windtunnel camps and one training camp in DeLand with 20 jumps so far. Cross Keys Air Pollution won the Int class in 2007 in Chicago with a 12.6 avg. Canopy transfers - Was: Fatality in Rockmart, GA
Ron replied to upndownshop's topic in Safety and Training
Seen it twice. Not recommended, but I have seen it. If you are below 1,000 feet ALL the rules change. I personally have cut away below 800 feet with a spinner, it was an almost simultaneous pull. Predictability of 270 degree turns: (Was Fatality - Eloy)
Ron replied to Chris-Ottawa's topic in Safety and Training
Well, then please hear this from me: A 270 is a wrong pattern for a normal landing area....An area that BTW during the boogie turns over 180 were not allowed. Just because people were doing it does not make it OK. Yes, plenty. A traffic pattern was in place, Tom ignored it. Luckily the other jumper did not die due to his mistake. Ron and Sara were not that lucky. Roger Nelson was not that lucky, Kallend got really lucky. Anyone that thinks a 270 is a "proper" pattern is ignoring 100 years worth of aviation's lessons. A 180, 270, 360 or 540 hook turn to final is nothing but disruptive to *any* attempt at a normal landing pattern. The more the degrees of turn the more dangerous it is in a pattern. A 180, 270 360....ect degree turn is very hard for anyone else in a pattern to judge. And in every case the LOWER person has the right of way....Ever wonder why? They CAN'T SEE above and behind them which is where this jumper and others in the same situation came from. 270's even 180's have NO place in a "pattern". Wanna do cool 540 degree hook turns?...Have fun with my blessing, but do a hop n' pop while I grab a camera. Some are defending their friend. Normal and expected. But most will admit he made a mistake. The best make mistakes, best friends make mistakes. This does not mean he was stupid, ugly, unskilled, or an ass. It just means he made a mistake. If he were a world class jumper maybe he would not have made that mistake, or maybe the recovery would not have killed him...But he like MOST of us are just not that good. So that just goes to show that if this guy who is better than many can make this mistake, then maybe 270's have no place in a proper pattern. Swooping is not going to go away, so how do we prevent this (Or reduce it)? 1. Follow the rules. The main landing are was off limits for this kind of landing. ENFORCE IT! 2. Follow one of the "Golden Rules"....LOW MAN HAS THE RIGHT OF WAY. 3. Follow the "Swoopers Rule". Know when NOT to swoop. 4. Establish "High Performance" landing areas. Say turns over 180 degrees and ground anyone that does not follow that rule. I have been avoid posting anything, and this is the first and last I am going to say about this. I feel the loss. Hell I knew Cliff, knew Ron, Knew Roger...Glad I still get to still know Kallend...Sorry I will never get to know Tom. Lets do something about it instead of ignoring the issue. Jan.....How about you get the USPA to actually DO SOMETHING?!!?!?! "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334 -
My goal is to take off and fly a regular fig 8. Then as I cross in the center, roll inverted and do a fig 8...(Got this far already). Then when I get to the center again, flip and do a backwards inverted fig 8. Then when back in the center, roll and do an upright backwards fig 8. I also need to upgrade my gyro. The 401 just does not hold that great, and when I do piros, it does not do them smoothly. You don't need one, but they help. I have an old G2 that works OK, but I have the G3.5 that is much better. Don't need them. I am flying 30% with the sceadu plastics. I know lots of others doing the same. Yes, I have the Curtis gov. I have to say that it is the best single thing I have done to my heli. I now can flip and flop with no worries. It is about 100.00 bucks and well worth it. Very easy to set up. I would recomend that you know how to set the curves and set them as close to perfect as possible, in case it breaks, ect...And then slap a Gov on. I blew a hole in the piston on one of mine. A guy at the field gave me a new hyper, and then GP sent me a new one. I tried to give the guy the new one. But he told me to keep it as a spare, very cool. So now I have a new hyper and a regular OS .50 sitting in a box...Also another guy today just gave me a CY muscle pipe. And another just offered me his spare JR Voyager to "borrow" to pull all the stuff in. Hell at this rate I just need some guy to give me a few servos and I'll have a free copter In other news I just flew backwards inverted 8's today...Way trippy. I use 30 all the time...And a guy just gave me a bottle for Christmas. This has been my week! Anyone got the G3 sim? Coheese..Got a sim at all? I have: Blade CP Shogun Trex Sceadu .50 Going to buy a Raptor .90 SE, or a regular Raptor .50 Titan next week. In addition about 10 planes. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

And how was my question any different than yours? OK, you told people to get a life...OK other than that? You made a post about people posting and not jumping enough....The irony on that alone is just too rich. So turn about is fair play IMO.
