  1. those are just as much "your colleagues" as they are mine. I believe your views to be just as valid as mine, just looked at from a different angle. it takes a DZO to enforce a BSR, why can't this just be addressed with them? brian didn't suggest a "rule" he suggested a solution. there is a HUGE difference. the forst group you mention, the one's with humility, are swoopers. the one's that want to "get their swoop on" are generally not, they are usually big way fliers with hot canopies, or employee's of a DZ. but they and WE are all skydivers. so lets have this conversation without the emotion so WE can come up with a solution.
  2. It is because brian is saying that swoopers are NOT the problem. in my opinion, swoopers are the most aware canopy pilots on the planet. the problem is not swoopers... I don't expect you to understand this, but judge only what you know. swoopers are very conscious about what is going on around them, under canopy, separating landings, separating wing loadings, and also exiting at a lower altitude to separate them selves from "whuffo" traffic. it is the jackass canopy pilots that swoop in your pattern that are the problem. brian put it into a non judgmental diagram to help make a solution, not that billvon didn't, it just is accepted differently. swoopers "true swoopers" are not the problem.

  5. just go back and don't leave till they see and acknowledge the problem. there IS a tech there that can fix it. we are expensive, but each dealer has one or two, sometimes three or four if they got the money and the buissness.

I have a hard time beliving it is the timing. it is hard to say without looking at it. but the car is being told to do what it is doing, it is the WHY it is being told that is where you will find the problem. you would be very surprised at the shit that goes on the the little brain the car has. I am willing to bet that the vtec is not coming on, and there is a reason for it. but why is it being told to not come on? that is what my question is... but hey, like I said. it is hard to tell without looking at it... I can guarantee 100% that I could figure it out if I had the car and the time. but I have neither right now.
  7. I will guess it is something with the fail safe system not allowing the vtec solenoid to kick in. but that doesn't say much. I got friends in the ATL area that are honda master tech's. plus like I said before, it is a simple system to someone who knows it. good luck. what are the p codes they pulled? are there any?
  8. cold air intake also allow dust or oil to get on the hot wire element of the airflow meter, whatever honda calls it that meters the flow of air through the intake. this can EASILY, cause a rich running condition. my problem with that diagnosis is, that the vtec design uses oil "hydraulic" to turn on and off the Vtec solenoid. have you checked your oil ? tell me what the codes are they got. the codes should start with a "P" that car is a simple design to an up to date master tech, it shouldn't be hard to figure out with the right person. are you around here? I can refer you.

  16. actually, the education i have seen is seeping its way into the mainstream. just because it is not so wide spread yet does not mean it isnt working. the problem is, only a small percent of people are getting it.

  18. agreed. also a bsr is not going to fix anything. education is the long slow road, but it is the correct one. if you teach the up and commers this is wrong, they "hopefully" won't turn into that "camera" geek with a skygod mentality and think they are above the law. you know the type! the ones you go up to and say something and they say "ohh, I wasn't as close to them as you thought. I had pleanty of room to cut that newbie off." you know who you are. a bsr is not going to FIX this mentality. and those with this mentality are some of the ones teaching others. what can fix this mentality, is for a dzo to ground this fool till hw agrees to quit. and most likely what will happen to him is his ego will take him to another DZ which the whole process will start ovee again. if this was never accepted in the first place, we wouldn't have a problem. so educate these newbies, use the jackass as a symbol. "don't turn into this guy, and here is why"
  19. what could be done to the offender if they break this bsr? also, what would be done if the offender feels he is "above the law" and the dzo fails to ground him. I know for a fact this is going on. have heard complaints. not that I have seen at my home dz, but elswhere. could we "as jumpers" report him and have his ratings pulled? that's a little drastic isn't it?

  22. if you can spot to keep yourself out of the trees you can spot to keep yourself out of the HP area. If you don't know how to spot (god knows, these days alot of peeps don't) it really isn't that hard. ask somone to teach you the math behind it. it is very simple. (don't go on green, check your spot if you don't want to land there)
