  1. Your semantic games do not alter the fact that someone performing a high performance landing killed someone who was in a standard pattern. Bob did not kill Danny. I like games... haha,, if bob was a standard pattern flyer, and he landed in the H/P area, and this same thing happened. who's fault would it be then?
  2. you know what. I have always respected you but your remarks are becoming assanine. danny was a big way belly flier who half assly knew how to fly a canopy, and was arrogent enough to perform a half ass low turn to final when he shouldn't. your focus would be much better off if it was to the big way organisers forcing them to back up the fact that only standard patterns are allowed during big ways. this was not a swooping accident in my opinion. it was a big way accident.
  3. flip, thanks for all your posts lately. I really appreciate your attitude and your point of view. Ian, you also... I like the no B.S. discussion that you two are bringing to the table. I wish I could add more..

    Car Trouble

shotgun solution? just go get it diagnosed at the dealer. then fix it yourself.
  5. A little bit more to this... Ohms law says that voltage equals current times resistance. So a high resistance (say 500,000 ohms - about the resistance of dry skin) with 120 volts of electricy will be a paltry amount of current - not even enough to tingle. However, if you lower the resistance say 1000 ohms - the resistance of wet skin, the current now becomes deadly even though it is still less than an amp. I have a powerpoint of this that I cover with my physics class when we go over ohms law if you'd like me to send it to you. that is why I said "basically".
  6. do a google search on "ohm's law" basically a small amount of amperage can kill you, but you have to have ALOT of voltage to drive the amperage through your body, without the voltage, the amps don't matter....
  7. it is all about the setup. adjust your pattern.
  8. Only germane if you are saying that NO non-GM DZ follows ANY of the BSRs. A non-GM DZO can still choose to follow a BSR. true, but what is also true is the teeth you speak of is not there either.
  9. creating a "rule" because a DZO is too much of a pussy to stand up isn't what we are after... the dzo is the one that is going to have to stand up either way you look at it. some already have.
  10. whats up jay, what canopy was that on. both of them, and were you wearing lead?
  11. I wasn't there. actually, speed is my thing, I wish I was there.
  12. somebody told me to post here.
  13. I think I can get more out of a 90 turn then a long 180. so I guess it is just me, I don't see the point.
  14. I admit I don't always have the best sense of humor. but some of you seem to be blinded by the fact that 180's are still allowed. It is NOT the turn that is the problem, it is the fact it is done in traffic. have we not already got this far? if you want to chose which turn is safest IN a standard pattern, I beleive you will find that a 180 is not it.
  15. 280 is preatty big. but it also depends on your body type. I am sure hans would want to meet you before he agreed to take you up.. the 285 pound weight limit at ASC is for tandams, not AFF I will also almost guarantee you that Tyler, the DZ manager at ASC, would want to meet you also before he agreed to take you up. just because someone says they will take you up, does not mean it is safe.. and p.s, I am an instructor at the farm.
  16. the only person who suggested you were stupid is yourself. I didn't do that. go ahead, find some more cut downs. your really hurting my feelings.. this is the part of your post I was replying to. how can that be? your back is turned. and if your doing a left turn, how can you see the traffic entering the pattern to your right in a left hand pattern. if your doing a long slow 180 you best be looking and judging your altitude the whole time, which means your looking left and not in the direction that a possible standard pattern person is flying.. ohh and forgive me if I thought this thread was about turns bigger than 90 degrees in a traffic pattern, I just assumed that because of the thread title.
  17. And in my limited experience, it seems that I can build up more speed in addition to having a better view to where I am headed. thats why is is limited experiance then. A 180 in to a standard traffic pattern is the most dangerous thing you can do... banning a 270 and saying do 180's is ok, is fucking stupid....
  18. they are not in rome, they are in cedertown georgia. I am sure they told you they were in rome though. no argument here, but there are other drop zones around the atlanta area, including Skydive the Farm directly across the street from asc, who have great quality gear also. you would enjoy the farm, just go through aff there instead.
