It was most likly this phenomina. But what is it about the water that is different then grass for this to happen? well, people say it is because it is harder to judge alti over water. I dissagree with that statement because it isn't the water that is hard to judge, it is the fact that you are staring at it. you don't stare at the grass when you land on it. it is something different when in reality it is the same, and peoples perceptions change when it is something new and they tend to stare or get "object fixation" but this is just my opinion.

He is correct. His pattern was a right hand pattern, with a left hand turn at the end. So what makes it a right hand pattern? AFAIK left pattern has just left, right pattern has just right turns. the pattern itself makes it a right hand pattern. if you look at the pattern from above, a left 270 is esentially a right 90 deg turn, he just went the long way around.

oil is oil. as long as you change it regularly it doesn't matter what you use as long as it is the correct weight. with any oil including synthetic, if it doesn't get changed regularly, your asking for problems. I once to the head off of a nissan with 250,000 miles on it and still saw the original crossthatch int the bores of the cylender. that is almost NO wear.

alti2 took care of my problem. I am a happy customer again. it was shutting off after exit or even sometimes riding to altitude. I tried many batteries that day with the same result. alti2 replaced it for me and it is now working great. this post reminds me, I need to return my old one. they were kind enough to get a new one to me, even without my old one. thanks alti2.

Under some circumstances if a person kills someone else while driving they can (and should) go to prison. The reason is that willful disregard for the safety of others is considered unacceptable by most rational people. I don't buy into the mentality that jumpers need to accept *all* possible risks of the sport or not jump because some of those risks are from behavior that is unacceptable. Let's say that I don't think drunk driving to be ok. Does that mean I shouldn't drive and the drunk drivers (and those who think drunk driving is ok) should be the only ones on the road? I don't think so. What we are talking about is people who may kill themselves and you because they think behavior that puts others at risk is acceptable. The problem is their potential victims aren't given a choice. There is little difference between these jumpers and drunks who get behind the wheel. Sometimes shit just happens and people get hurt or killed. Some dickhead flying like a maniac and trying to "thread the needle" in the pattern is not even close to being in that category--at least not in my world. Walt Not just drunk drivers if i tear down the street run a stop sign and turn into traffic will that be called an accident? I think not. There are very sensible swoopers out there and there are people like danny. Swooping is noway a crime. I like to do it among 100's of other people i guess. I agree, and lee, as you know, for the most part, we have gotten rid of those peeps. we are now in the process of keeping the younger ones in check.

you can turn numbers many ways, just depends on who is looking at them... I will not waste my time. swooping is here to stay, come up with ideas that it can be done safely. billvon did, and so has brian. they put into descriptive detail what we all have been saying all along. if the DZ doesn't have the option of separate landing area, then they have the option of separate time. If they don't choose to do the "separate time" because it is not "economically viable" then they can ban whatever whenever, and we as swoopers have to deal with that. it's all good.

chuck, I think "polarized" and "gradient" lenses are two different things. I don't believe the gradient lens is polarized.

there is a difference in a BSR and a way to deal with a problem. the problem HAS to be dealt with at the DZO and S&TA level. if you write a BSR it is the same thing. so why write a BSR? the only reason I see is, if the DZO does NOT follow the proposed BSR, there is a possible lawsuit.
