  1. Yes, VERY, bordering on juvenile and for the world to see, WTF? "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  2. Geez. At least they could have password protected this site This is a new one on me. Never seen it before. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  3. blah, blah blah, Go to the Kerry tazered kid thread for specific information. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  4. Also all you turds............... Today I hit the 20 year mark, the state I work in I can RETIRE as of today if I want!! Unfortunaly I have a daughter in college and other bills as of right now so I have to keep dealing with the public, instead of saying "would you like a cart?" But it is nice to know, if shit gets too stupid I'm DONE! Soooo..............after my 5th Beam and diet coke, all you cop haters can kiss my donut eating, bad guy tazing ( I wish), big fat white hairy ass!!! Just kdding, hate the game not the player
  5. Very good points, I won't argue any of them, it does come down to money, time, and priorities. The just "taze his ass" is a supervision issue, verbal and empty-handed should be tried first if possible. Money-Training dollars are at a premium, we do have recurrent training in PPCT, but not as much as I'd like. Time-Training time is also at a premium, both personal and professional. Mastering these techniques takes almost daily practice, between work, family, changing shifts, sickness, other training etc. there are only so many hours in a day. I'd love to shoot like a Navy SEAL, fight like a ninja, and talk like a physcologist but time dictates otherwise. It's great on tv, somewhat unrealistic in practice. BTW, I've used my PR-24 2 times in 17 yrs, I'm a big believer in communication skills, that is my best weapon. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  6. My bet is if there is a lawsuit the college will settle, insurance carriers are skiddish about taking cases to trial, juries can be funny animals. Normally it comes down to a business decision, it's cheaper to settle than try the case. If it goes to trial, my money is on the officers, not because of any factors you cited, because quite frankly they are ridiculous. I always tell my guys this, if you do something, you'd better be able to convince 12 people you are right. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  7. Most departments don't have transport vans mainly large city departments do, they are very expensive. . "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  8. Again, Sticking your head inside a vehicle when someone is kicking like that is a VERY bad idea. You tell her to stop as he did, she refuses, then IMHO she is fair game. And yes the car doesn't belong to me, it belongs to all of us. Many times kicking a window out can cause the whole door to bend out before the window breaks. This can cost hundred of your tax dollars to fix. It would also depend on policy, some departments forbid tazing of handcuffed suspects period. Others only allow it when a suspect is assaultive or damaging property. I think the latter is a fair policy. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  9. Anyone who is highly agitated prior to police intervention, refuses to move after being ordered to do so several times, then pulls away several times, attempts to flee, pulls away again all the while flailing his arms and legs, is absolutely a threat. I've been injured by these very same circumstances. How is this for a scenario: The kid gets his mic turned off, he gets pissed and refuses to leave. Cops tell him he has to, he again refuses, the cop gently grabs one arm and attempts to lead him from the venue. Kid tells the cops this is fucked up but complies. He files a complaint against the event and officers involved. Now who wins in this scenario? The kid doesn't get tazed, the organizers can see if the event trully was run properly, and the cops can review for any policy violations. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  10. You can't see what happens prior to the first zap, but I would venture to say it was warranted, the original call appeared to be a distrubance at a bar. The other ones I would have to question, when she starts kicking the windows IMHO she is fair game. Again, after getting her out a second time I would have to question that. I wasn't there so I'll say appears, but I would venture to say this officer has some 'splaining to do. But as I also stated before this incident didn't happen in vacuum, this woman has culpability as well. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  11. I disagree, In the long version I saw one cuff appeared to be on only one hand, the other arm was flailing. If you are relying on press reports, don't. Also there are several edited versions that go from the initial struggle directly to the tazing. I watched this right when it came out, long before the thread even started. I check liveleak.com daily for situations just like this, and use them for training purposes. Go back in my posts and you'll see the use of force continuum explained (some would say ad nauseum) "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  12. The sad reality is that this is a real possiblity and it would'nt be hard to do. Just look as Beslan Russia. We are alot better trained and equipped to deal with it though. Most local SWAT teams train on bus assaults, we trained hard on them when I was on the team ten years ago. However, the initial stages of such attacks would be devastating. I guess it goes back to the free society thing, we have LOTS of juicy targets just because of our lifestyle. All we can do is try to mitigate the risk. State and national homeland security departments have been doing discreet threat assessments and if you look carefully, you can see subtle changes in numerous public places. 13. The drunk woman with the blond hair in Warren Ohio. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  14. I guess they could lay on top of him WWF style, he complies after being tazed. Again, he is flailing on the ground, it is not wise to stick ones head into a failing arm or leg (take my word on that one). After he is tazed he settles down, then numbers come into play. If no tazer was present, then you would have to overcome his resistance by sheer force and numbers. The chance of injury is greatly increased for the suspect then. 15. I'm not on the frontline against my own country, it does resemble a war though. Why else do I have to wear a bullet-resistant vest to work. I've been on the frontline other places, can't say I cared for it much. By the way there is a new tazing video, a female who got tazed several times before and after being handcuffed. Some of you computer literate types may be able to make it clicky from liveleak.com, I can't. Let's talk about that one, this one is getting kinda old. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  16. Done, Done with what? Read the whole thread dude, I addressed almost every aspect of police brutality the good, the bad, and the ugly. I admit there have been very ugly incidents, this is not one of them. As far a me chilling, in a good police state I (guess) I could kick some innocent citizens ass. Then go back to HQ and chill, then go kick some more ass, go grab some lunch, kick more ass, then chill again. Instead when I use force or one of my guys uses force. I spend two hours doing incident reviews, worry about use of force rates per officer, then look at further review by my boss then the Chief of Police. Then there are complaints, I spend at least several hours a week dealing with citizen complaints, most are resolvable at my level. We pride ourselfs on the "broken windows" model of policing. I attend community meetings and report on all citizen input. In a good police state I would just chill in the office until it was time to kick ass, but then again WE DON'T LIVE IN A POLICE STATE do we? At least I don't, and I doubt you do. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  17. Not dictating anything, up until very recently this has been a civil discussion, with some good points and discussion. Like I said, start a screw the cops thread or something. Then I'll choose not to go down to the playground, I'd rather stay upstairs with the adults. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  18. Are kidding me, I give way more breaks than I do arrests. Again, a few people try to change the subject of this thread. If you want to rant and rave, start another thread. If that is the case I would choose not to participate because in a rant thread, facts seldom matter. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  19. Thanks for that. Take it from a long time cop, we are far from a police state. If we were so close, why is my job so hard? In a good police state I could sit back and chill, a heck of alot more than I do now. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  20. It does, and it has been addressed ad nauseum. The topic was .......Student tazed at public Kerry speech. By the way your post says ex-cop, from the looks of it that is a good thing. I would be the first to agree, it would appear lately that Chi town has had some issues. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  21. If Richard Gere was a cloud, he would be asking "have you seen my gerbil?" in this picture. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  22. What does this remotely have to do with this thread? This time I won't bite, stay on topic..........stay on topic........(in my best X-wing fighter pilot voice).... "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  23. Look closely, I never say never in any of my posts. All the cops in the Louima case are serving lengthy prison sentences, rightfully so. The Diallo case is a very unfortunate, his family received a large settlement and again rightfully so. I also never said cops are perfect, but when we make mistakes, people can die. Two cases vs hundreds of thousands of contacts since they both occurred, again not a bad record. Nice try at changing the subject, read my posts then argue those facts on the case of the kid in Florida. Typical tactic of the left, try to change the focus of the situation at hand rather than look at the relevant facts. I haven't used the term "left" yet until replying to your post, you've always made your views quite clear. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  24. They are pretty funny, I saw one and I just might. I did buy an "Officer Friendly?" shirt at Lollapoluza from the national socialist party. The shirt is black with a cop in a gaskmask and wielding a big nightstick. You should have seen the look they gave me when I bought it (I look like a cop), those socialists sure have good deals on t-shirts, I think it was $5.00 and I wear it all the time, it's worn well too. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
  25. Well, You are warped................... "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
