  1. I doubt we had anything else other than Hayden's chutes and Cossey's chest packs and a bunch of confused agents writing things down...the first part of the serial numbers also don't always reflect the manufactured year...the pink parachute serial number is 58-53912 and was manufactured in 1959. the number doesn't start with 59.... WRONG,,,, 58-53912 ,,, 58 = year 1958 for the year of fabric manufacture. The year of chute manufacture is 1959. The date for fabric manufacture can be a year prior to the chute manufacture date but usually they match. That is the Steinthal system.. The parachute drama seems to never end... 1) 226 is not a "serial number' nor is 9/57 WRONG.. 226 is the serial number and 9/57 is the date of manufacture for the chute returned to Hayden. Look at the packing card from Hayden's chute. It is irrefutable. 2) the Steinthal mentioned is the canopy itself and not the container and is not included in the evidence sheet. Steinthal canopy is 60-9707 consistent with a 1960 manufacture date and Steinthal serial numbering system. 3) one documents states it's a pioneer and the other a Steinthal. The one left on the plane is a Steinthal. The FBI screwed up the data descriptors for "S/N", "TYPE" and "DATE" but the data is correct. If you look at the packing card the descriptor is below the line, but it can easily misread as above the data. They just got the descriptor wrong based on a poorly designed packing card.
  2. Back in 1970, the emergency bailout rigs with Auto Opening Devices can work on timers... News reports claimed Cooper rejected McChord chutes because he wanted a manual release. One news report claimed Cooper rejected because he wanted a manual release.. They weren't static line, they had to be AOD's... the static line reports were wrong. There is no way McChord would even consider static line chutes. The big question,, Did Cooper use one from Cossey or McChord??. He rejected the one from Hayden and left it. For some odd reason the FBI docs are missing info on the delivery and "rejection" of the McChord chutes..
  3. Here is a random Steinthal chute,,, Manufactured 1966 serial number 66-12982, format is "66" = year Back chute Cooper left on plane serial number 60-9707 manufactured 1960 is consistent with Steinthal serial number system. The one Hayden got back was S/N 226 manufactured 1957. These are two different chutes, both Hayden's. What did Cooper jump with? A 24' Pioneer emergency rig 1946. 24' bailout rigs wasn't rare, I found a bunch through the 60's.
  4. The aft airstairs is not a true "red herring", the take away is that Cooper was not familiar with their operation. He was not a 727 "expert" or an informed Boeing employee. He may have had exposure to another aircraft likely military with rear ramp controls in cockpit, I am looking for that.. "Negotiable currency" has no significance to me.. The pilot used "American" and Tina recalled Cooper later said "US" currency.... that is significant. It suggests that Cooper had "recent" experience with foreign currency. It would be very rare for somebody who has never left the US to use "American" or "US" to define the only money they ever experienced... that is something that somebody with foreign currency experience would do. IMO, Cooper likely had significant and recent exposure to foreign currency outside the US.
  5. You are the one claiming to read minds claiming it was the beepers... the news articles claimed it was the static line chutes. The FBI documents confirm that Cooper believed the chutes were coming from McChord.. So, how does Cooper go from expecting chutes from McCord to rejecting them??
  6. You say "probably"... that is just a wild guess... media reported they were rejected because they were static line, that makes no sense. No way McChord would consider static chutes for a commercial 727.. Granted, we know very little about the McChord chutes.. Were they actually sent? Cooper expected the chutes from McChord so when did he reject them? Did he see them? How did he know they needed to be rejected after he commented they were coming from McChord,, none of it makes any sense. The FBI is hiding something. Himmelsbach also claimed Cooper requested chutes from McChord??
  7. Maybe it has something to with beepers,,, the static line chute refusal seems like disinformation to me.. is the FBI hiding info.. Hahneman got chutes from Andrews AFB and they were equiped with beepers.. remember this odd FBI document.. and this one, two back packs military olive drab green containers... that doesn't match Hayden's pair or Cossey's back chutes claims. An error or could these have been from McChord..
  8. D B Cooper letter,,, "The System That Beats The System" A little OT, but serious, but this Covid-19 has the potential to take down the entire global financial system... Covid-19 is the pin that popped the debt bubble... prepare... food, supplies, cash, gold...
  9. That is the deal,, no way they send static line chutes to a commercial 727 and hard to believe they didn't have bailout rigs available..
  10. I can't see McChord considering or sending static line chutes for a 727 hijacking.. it just doesn't make sense.. obviously a commercial jet is not equipped for static line. So, how could Cooper reject them.. Either they sent chutes that weren't static line (maybe AAD?) or they didn't send any and couldn't find any that were not static line, but that doesn't seem likely.
  11. The C-130 had rear ramp controls,, Did it also have cockpit ramp controls??
  12. Cossey claimed the (NB6/8) back chute Cooper took was sage green container and sage green harness... Cossey was looking for a sage/sage chute.... The FBI claimed the back chute Cooper took was olive drab container with a tan harness...
  13. Anybody know.. back in Nov 1971.. Did/would McChord have back chutes equipped with AAD? The excuse that Cooper rejected McChord chutes because they were static line is not credible.
  14. It gets a bit frustrating when I post information and it gets ignored.. I have to repost it over and over and over... The packing card for the chute returned to Hayden clearly states S/N 226.. 1957. The FBI docs also state S/N 226.. The packing card for the chute left on the plane S/N is 60-9707.. 1960. I looked up similar S/N's and the "60" before the "-" denotes the year of fabric manufacture. Chute manufacture date is after, within a year. That "60"-9707 is consistent with a 1960 year of assembly. In other words, these are definitely two different chutes. Both Hayden's as they were both Pioneer's packed by Cossey on the same date May 21, 1971. Cooper did not take either of Hayden's chutes. The next step is determining which chute Cooper actually took... probably Cossey's but maybe McChord. The takeaway,, Cossey rejected chutes found that were not sage green harness/sage green container and a white chute based on an assumption.. that may not have been accurate and one of those chutes found may have been the one Cooper used. I don't recall any time disclosed for initial contact with Cossey. I'll take another look.
  15. Hayden's chute was returned in 1975 according to FBI docs.. Incidentally, in a 1976 newspaper article in the FBI docs Cossey claimed his chute left on the plane had been returned to him.. Did Cossey get Hayden's chute in 1975? then back to Hayden in 1982? Doubt it, Bruce probably has the date wrong. Hayden said it was repacked in '82 after its return, not it was returned in '82.
  16. They didn't open the back chute in Reno that Cooper left, the info came from the packing card in the pocket. S/N 60-9707 - that does not match the packing card (S/N 226) for the chute returned to Hayden. CHECK-MATE.
  17. Don't waste too much time on it.. R99 has pushed his theory for a decade that the flightpath was actually over TBAR and Cooper died over TBAR.. There is no evidence for it and he will bend reality, manufacture evidence and deny reason to defend his theory. Toxic confirmation bias..
  18. That is right, I remembered reading that but couldn't recall the source.. I think Martin wrote about it as well..
  19. 2011 Cooper symposium... https://themountainnewswa.net/2011/11/29/db-cooper-symposium-delivers-solid-information-and-analysis/ Metzler had an audience member put on the NB 8 to demonstrate how difficult the rig is to don for the uninitiated.
  20. I believe so,, but the FBI mix up with the rigs makes it uncertain the rig Cooper actually took. He left Hayden's rig for sure. He likely took Cossey's custom NB6/8 but there is a possibility he took one from McChord. It is complex.. the FBI parachute descriptions conflict in more than one dimension, Hayden vs Cossey and colours, if you know what I mean. Cossey claimed his NB6/8 was a sage green harness and sage green container.. FBI file,,, both back chutes olive drab, FBI file,,, back chutes,, one tan, one olive drab FBI file,,, unsub used sage green parachute Hayden claimed his chutes were identical. Important, Cossey was informed of the chutes left on the plane and ASSUMED Cooper used his sage green/sage green NB6/8 by elimination.. Cossey didn't know about Hayden's chute or that the FBI potentially mixed them up.. Cossey rejected found chutes that were not sage green/sage green based on an assumption,, this may or may not have been correct. This throws into doubt all the chutes Cossey rejected. Tina,, "She also commented that he appeared to be completely familiar with the parachutes which had been furnished to him"
  21. FBI confirmed Hahneman was on an aircrew in WW2. They claimed he was also in Korea and Vietnam but I can't find any military record for those. He claimed he was a Vietnam veteran and paratrooper but I have not confirmed either. It was common for him to embellish and tell half truths.. He worked in various countries in South East Asia for most of the 1960's under several contracts.. until Aug 1971. When Hahneman jumped in '72 he took apart one of the chutes and left the parts on the plane, he walked backward down the airstairs and went off back first. That was the method 377 suggested for Cooper. He did not ask for airstair operation instruction..
  22. Cooper also rejected the instructions... Hard to imagine somebody with NO training or experience about to make their first jump out the back of a 727 rejecting the parachute instructions. The evidence indicates Cooper had at least some parachute training or experience.
  23. It indicates Cooper had experience with a military harness. How many people have military harness experience and ZERO training or jumps?
  24. You do have to have experience to put on a military harness quickly without instructions..
  25. This is just not true,,, There are indications that he had military chute experience. He put the chute on ASAP rejecting the instructions and he asked for a knapsack which is a military paratrooper term/item.. Himmelsbach claimed he asked for chutes from McChord. He chose the military chute. Hahneman successfully made a nearly identical jump with a military chute, at night over a dark rural jungle with money and 2000 cigarettes.. He backed down the stairs and jumped off back first just as 377 speculated Cooper may have done. There are several other examples of 727 parachute hijackers surviving.. To conclude the conditions caused Cooper to die in the jump is extreme confirmation bias based on unfounded assumptions.. we all have some but that is beyond reason.
