  1. You mean like giving aid to a poor needy country which their crooked leaders stole to build mansions and have the great things in life so their people can see them propped up over them so they blame the US for the abuse their own leaders perpetrate upon them when likely they would have had to pull themselves up on their own if allowed to long ago? stuff like that? amazing what good intentions....er...... I mean, it's amazing what "making political gestures to retain and grow power over our own ignorant voting base" does in both unnecessary spending and long term harm to foreign countries' populations. ... 2. yeah, and there's no such thing as angry anonymous liberals either. Blaming this on Ryan instead of the overzealous callers "help undo the damage Ryan did" is just political manuvering too and also stupid. It would be like blaming Obama for things Amazon or Funjumper say. politically charged people are just a pain - doesn't matter which party. ... 3. and STILL - the same people (what? about 45% for each party) would argue that THEIR GUY won the funny walk hands down and gave a beating to the other guy and fight violently over it anyway - for the children ********* will claim that Romney and all republicans walk boring and angry and that dems always have some stereotyped funny walk naturally ******* will show stats and smugly note how his side really IS funnier and it's not just a random number generator and that "funny" isn't subjective and politics, it's "science". References to Charlie Chaplin, Monte Python, and other posters previous quotes will abound. ***** will just be angry for whatever reason. **** and ******* will insult each other over random items not related to funny walking and eat up 4 pages of thread trying to get the last 4 word reply to the tall string of quotes ** aka **************** will claim that poor people can't walk funny without government supplied orthopedic shoes that should be paid for by Bill Gates for everyone via mandated minimum wage increases and massive printing of currency I'll personally post something cynical and non-value added. ... It's directly proportional to the square root of temperature in K. thank you (but any absolute temperature scale will do - just choose the right gas constant) deriving that one in college actually was very cool how it simplified - and, of course, that's likely one of the nerdiest things I'll write this decade ... 9. . nonsense - stick up for yourself when it happens. This isn't about your response to a bad cop. This, which you know, is about the ASSumption going into an encounter that all cops are bad before any evidence is given. ... 10. Yup - and I've run into asshole (bankers, engineers, doctors, cops, hell pick race and really make the point, etc). I guess I should just treat everybody crappy. People are over the top about this because only 1 exposure to a single bad cop gets under their skin, but multiple encounters with the good guys doesn't seem to stick. For that matter, a good cop giving some self righteous assholes will still result in the asshole claiming the cop was out of line even when he wasn't - it's human nature. Sucks for all the good cops out there. But I'll still assume a cop is a good guy until he, as THAT INDIVIDUAL, proves otherwise. But I won't put them ALL in that bucket. But that goes for everyone - doesn't matter what their job is. That's why these blanket statements about cops really just reflect an ignorant and childish bias. ... 11. Respect does not equal "kissing ass". Despite what you seem to think, showing respect to someone is a sign of strength, not weakness. Most men give up the false bravado/disrespect nonsense when they leave junior high school - unless they join a really high brow street gang, of course. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect. Your attitude that you can shit on some stranger just doing his job is crap. So expect to be crapped right back on. Doesn't matter if it's a cop or the manifest girl or whatever. ... 13. I agree, the bill was too narrow in scope. "This bill was smart bipartisan policy that would put veterans back into service for their communities as policemen, firefighters and first responders," the group's founder and chief executive, Paul Rieckhoff, said in statement. That is telling veterans where they have to look for jobs, not good. They have the right to make their own choices. The Liberal Democrats always think they know what is best. That attitude is what pisses everyone off. nonsense, the government needs to issue Bill after Bill after Bill telling people where to work and who to show preference to in hiring. Once a Bill is issued that covers EVERY demographic, then we're fair and balanced. It's wrong unless every single group gets preference over the other groups......equally ... VP debates

I think Biden was trying to do to Ryan what Romney did to Obama. He just didn't know how to do it like the statesman he's supposed to be. I think it hurt him with those that have a shallower analysis, since his content was fine. It's tough when you're always told what you want to hear all the time - it makes you arrogant - that reflected in Biden's attitude and Obama's inability to grasp that there really is other, legitimate, viewpoints than his own. ... VP debates

Lot's of substance in this debate. If you just listened and didn't watch Biden, it was pretty good and info was available from them both. If you watched, then Biden was really annoying and the circus show sometimes made it hard to realize he was giving decent info.. He only came really close to freaking out a couple times and only later. That's pretty good considering his track record. I really thought his 'passion' was just an act, like his top row of teeth. But apparently, he might really be that way. Only an idiot would spin up like that on purpose during a debate. But I guess some of the masses prefer to see energy rather than listen to the words. It's easier. But he did good on his words too. In all, both came across pretty decently on facts and putting forth their positions. Though Biden was kind of a dick the whole time. So the President, Romney, and Ryan at least act like adults. 3 for 4 isn't too bad. I don't care if either ones 'gets one in' - it's not about who's smarmiest, that's covered in these forums just fine. I just want the content, the cosmetic crap is pointless even if that's what 90% of the public seem to care about. ... 19. It's just people and a common interest, nothing magic about it. Skydiving is no more special in that regard than any other activity. And yes, most people are pretty nice and just need a reason to show it. I'd like to chart that "we are special and wonderful" attitude against time in sport. I think the adrenaline boost simply creates a 'honeymoon' attitude with jumpers that have been in for a short time (like less than 5 or 10 years). Leave a wallet or an audible out at a big commercial DZ and a newbie will find out pretty quickly that skydivers are just a cross section of humanity (i.e., 50% of people will let you know you left it out, 40% will do nothing, the other 10% will walk off with it or smash it just because they are idiots with poor senses of humor). You'll likely get a much better correlation to decency and kindness by checking against locality. That said - I find that MikeJD's comment is pretty much spot on. People are typically pretty nice when given opportunity to show it - any setting can show it. ... 20. a good instructor will try different methods until he finds the one the student understands a great instructor has all the methods in his bag and has an instinct on which ones he should teach first and usually gets it right in very few attempts I both cases, it requires enough experience to be able to choose from many different ways of teaching the same thing (rather than just their one personal experience/anecdote. i.e., as an instructor, what worked for me - way back then - may not work for everybody. I need to have other examples and be open to what other instructors do also. And to be observant of the student to see how they learn best - to apply that to the rest of the training.) a bad instructor just teaches the same thing the same way over and over again and then bitches about 'stupid students that just don't get it' ... 23. Not paying attention to your partner has consequences. On that exact note - failing to calmly let them know what's going on when it happens is also "not paying attention to your partner". It's always a two way street Communicating now in a partnering fashion is so much better than: 1 - waiting until the lid blows off ("I just can't take it any more") and making a huge deal out of it 2 - dumping someone without letting them know why (telling him to 'go on without you - for the rest of his life' makes a cute sound bite. and that's just about it) I think the idea of checking out the route and having a conversation about having an easier out is great. It pretty much opens with the comment that the first few routes were just too much to handle at this time. Amazon's note was great too - setting the common goal initially can take some off of the throttle without making it about one person being held back just to accommodate the other - one one pushed beyond limits to accommodate the other. nataly - one question is pretty easy. Do you really enjoy hiking? or is this just trying out one of his things and you gave it a fair shot but don't really want to? If you don't like it, there's really nothing wrong with hiking being "his" thing that you don't do. It might be too soon to assess until you get to try at your pace first, though. ... 25. I resonated with this post right up until I, inevitably, could not avoid the phrase "While getting a tongue bath from Whoopi". At that point, my nausea distracted much of my attention and I couldn't really finish the article. With or without context, those words should just not be presented in that combination.....for any reason. But up to that point, actually well communicated. That said, I agree with Quade. People that vote early are idiots. Especially when then are more debates where we get to hear what the candidates say directly, instead of the strawman crap we get from strangers. ...
