  1. we could, alternatively, have gone the route of referencing the oily liquid that the Twinkies cake seems to be saturated with...... but I thought that would be in poor taste ... 3. ^ This is why I am in favor of the cliff. The spending cuts kick in this year. Any sort of "deal" is going to involve a 10 year budget projection with X trillions of dollars but most of those are going to be so backloaded they have no hope of ever becoming reality. that bait and switch was horrible and this is clearly an attempt to do the same thing today, the real bait and switch is even worse because they now define slight reductions in forecasted increases = "cutting spending" it's a blatant lie. And I doubt they even intend to honor that ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants
  4. good for him that said - if both sides don't put forth their "ideal to philosophy" position that they know the other side can't stomach, then they don't get to grandstand on their impotent and pointless starting points for the sheep....er, their constituents. And, BONUS, they get to bad mouth the other side just for more points. they just need to realize that getting to an agreement in less than 20 iterations is what we want it's not about what's right, it's all the PR and posing ... 10. this is the only truth in the motivation as for 'revenue' collection - it's simple in that government will want as much of the $$ as they can soak from anyone and everyone without losing their voter base too much that they are kept from doing it again and again fiscal cliff - it'll play out this way the left will win the battle - they'll refuse to consider "real" spending cuts and stall and stall and stall - until the date passes - then taxes will be increased on everyone. That's their win and what they really want anyway. They can use their effective PR machine to win the battle when both sides try to blame the other side for the situation - enough people think that ONLY tax increases on a small group is enough, they just have to keep playing on that illusion. maybe the date will be stalled a time or two, but they really should bite on the strategy now and let it happen - it's as ripe as it can get just post-election cycle. ... 14. the concept of using controlled surface area for power enhancement and leverage extends just fine to other orientations, we've discussed a FF option with lots of top FF'lers and tunnel instructors and interest is mixed - but the better the flyer, it seems the more interest in new ideas is there in application, it's a bit trickier since the airflow can strike the feature from a more varied set of directions for your new suit.....I know a lady ... 15. Booties do make a difference, they are designed to make a difference. Anyone serious about RW should get them and learn to use them correctly. Anyone that doesn't have them is exercising a reasonable choice and that's fine. But they are completely incorrect in minimizing their effectiveness, badmouthing the feature or trying to rationalize silly excuses for not having them. "I just don't want them" is a perfectly good reason and doesn't need any further justification. ... SKYFALL--007

enjoyed it enough, but not even close as good as the other two (especially Casino Royale) - still this Bond is head and shoulders better than all the others. Seemed to play more like Batman/Bourne than Bond (now we're full circle) - but it came through nicely towards the end. I like how it just took the first 3 movies and used them to set up the pre-story finishing here with all the nostalgia and set ups. Ralph F will be a perfect M. And even those same office doors and a Montepenny. ... 19. I'll refer you to a post above - how much do you have to tie up management before one can't blame them? You can't assume they have total control and yet still cry and stamp your feet about unions being powerless. The stuff below is an example that's all over the place. union shops = suicide "Things that they were trying to negotiate out of were suck common sense items like allowing Wonder bread and Twinkies to be allowed to be delivered in the same truck. " And I refer you to 2 simple facts: 1. The function of management is to manage the company. 2. Taxpayers (like you and I) will undoubtedly be on the hook for a significant part of the unfunded pension obligation. So basically the managers/owners are getting someone else to pay their debts. clearly and one of the best management philosophies, in this case (for the owners, management and labor) would have been to not have or to eliminate as much unreasonable union agreements as possible - certainly they did fail to do that - now, or pre-emptively ... 21. In reality, not many people care about your hobbies, so if it affects the interview one way or the other, I'd wonder if that's someone I'd like to work for. That said - The payoff depends on the interviewer and how you use it. But don't just put it on the resume. In fact, delete the 'personal interests' section completely - it's used to screen out, not screen in. But I don't volunteer personal stuff like that unless asked, but then always be honest and present it in terms that relate to the interview. So, if they ask what your hobbies our outside interests are - pick a true one that will help the interview - if you think it's skydiving, great. if you think skydiving will hurt the interview talk about something else (Golf, skiing, tennis, charity work, family). it's really situational - suck it up and learn to establish a rapport - interviews are great, you get to talk about a subject you SHOULD be very familiar with - yourself ... 23. I agree: Reps have three basic sets 1 - Religious Right - not huge, but since they represent the wacky social side of the party that wants to spend all our money on their social vision, they just as well be part of the democrats version of their social wacko segment. 2 - Military and US is best group - pretty darn huge, they want to spend all our money on stuff they think is neat and on their best friends' companies, they just as well be part of the democrats version of their own industrial spending/power broker segment 3 - Fiscal Conservatives - nut huge, and widely ignored because "be efficient and frugal" is boring PR. Any time they get a bit of traction, groups 1 and 2 hijack them (or the Dems characterize/demonize them as group #1 or #2), or they get ditched when push comes to shove. They don't even have a counterpart in the other party - which is just as well because they hardly have a counterpart in their own party. If they win, everybody in government loses power and leverage - ugly step child group politically. I think the dems are fantastic at combining their #1 and #2 equivalents into a platform that brokers political power and appeals to PR tactics. Reps just seem to be fragmented in that strategy as the two groups reluctantly join, but don't merge. So trying to compete on that ground is a non-starter for the reps - but they can't admit it. #3, with a VERY watered down and monitored #2 influence and completely ditch #1 seems to me to be what a lot of reasonable people are asking for and never get. ... 24. [replyI am going to hazard a guess and think that you are a product of the last thirty years of public education, Trolling posts with this type of random antagonism and this shallow a level of content usually only indicates a poster barely through about the 7th grade unless they've been parentally neglected, then possibly even as old as 18 or so. So I doubt your estimate is even close. Though maturity in general has slipped a lot, I could suspect a bored kid in community college as worse case. ... 25. you say that like it's three things - I'd say that the first item covers all three that's the PR side of the dems convincing everyone that the religious faction = the whole party. Reps tried something similar, but they jsut didn't have the PR machine to do it. I agree with you though, the better discussion is that the republicans would be better off redefining to the original (not the hijacked) version of the tea party 1 - ditch the religious extremists 2 - go for a solely fiscally conservative stance I think this would win hands down with a ton of people abandoning the social manipulation culture of the two entrenched parties. ...
