I would like to learn and I have a few questions????
CanuckInUSA replied to flyinwithpops's topic in The Bonfire
So Phil Will you be at Brush tomorrow or Mile-Hi? I plan on making the trek to Brush in early November (likely for the entire weekend), but I can only jump for a few hours during the day tomorrow and that means my short 25 minute drive to Longmont instead of the hour and more to Brush. PS: I can attest to the riddler's punk hair. But then again, I got tattooed this summer as well. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Like this ... I believe this will be my 300th post ... Yup, I'm now an Old Hand Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Eloy will rock during the Christmas Holidays. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Come to Colorado. We need more single female skydivers at my DZ. On a related note to this thread, I did manage to get a girl to agree to attend an Avs hockey game with me next week (and yes she is a cutie). But my biggest issue with her is that she's afraid of heights and no doubt a Whuffo. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I totally agree with you diverdriver. I really enjoy skydiving, but I have to laugh at some of those people who claim airplanes are dangerous. Whenever I skydive, I see the airplane landing just about the same time I'm landing with my canopy. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I did a Tandem jump back on July 14th, 2002 thinking that it was going to be my only skydiving experience (a once in a lifetime ordeal). But once I got on the ground, I said to myself that "that was just way too cool not to do again" and I signed up for an AFF course being held the following week. And the rest is history. I'm now a licensed skydiver. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Is it the same out at Brush? (ie: we know it can be a little chilly, but are there few loads and do they shut down during the winter months, even if the skies are pretty clear). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I wish I could stay. But I'll be needing to get back to work after the Eloy Christmas boogie (I've got to pay for this addiction some way). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Check out the Break Away video. I have it and watch it every several weeks in order to get my mind thinking about the possible mals I could experience. It's well worth the price. http://www.dropzone.com/gear/Detailed/177.html Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Spending some time at Eloy over the holidays should really help our jump numbers (I'm hoping to be there for at least one week and maybe even two). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

If I maintain my current pace of skydiving 0.48 times/day, then by the time I celebrate my 1st skydiving birthday on July 14th, 2003 I will have made approximately 178 jumps. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Yes name tags could come in handy. I would imagine there will be lots of non-DZ.COMers there as well. So I wonder if there will be a place for us DZ.COMers to meet? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

My Eloy travels plans are very much up in the air right now (I may or may not travel with some of my Colorado skydiving peers). But if I can swing it, I would like to be there before Christmas Day as I don't have any family commitments I need to worry about (last year I skied at Vail on Christmas Day and it was a great day). Will they operating on Christmas Day? That would be sweet if people were jumping that day. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Ignoring ... Seriously though, I hope you get the attention you need. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I recently started jumping with a Bonehead Boomerang and I really like the idea of jumping with a fullface mainly because I'm not all that kean on the idea of getting into a collision which could knock out some teeth and then still having to land. But the Boomerang's visor is fixed and I noticed I fogged up if I put it on too soon on jump run and it would have been nice to be able to raise it while you're under the canopy. So after talking with someone this weekend, I found out that the Oxygn A3's visor is pretty secure and that it can be used for dark side dives and now I really wish I had bought one of those instead. Anyone insterested in buying a used (virtually brand new) XL Bonehead Boomerang? Make me an offer if you are. I'd be willing to sell it for a good savings to you ... It also doubles as a holdup mask which you may need to use when you get short on cash and need to jump. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Congrats on you "A" License and welcome aboard. My Whuffo friends/family and associates don't understand the compasion we have for this sport. But you're in good company here. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I could be wrong (that's why I'm making this post) but isn't it: times laid : times jumped : cases of beer for firsts Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I got some firsts knocked off this weekend
CanuckInUSA replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in The Bonfire
I got five jumps in and yes I do like it. I'm able to pack it (a good thing since it's a brand spanking new ZP canopy), and it flies and flares well. It will be a good canopy for me to learn on before I move on to another one (not to mention I got it for a really good price). Hey some people were even commenting that they liked the color scheme (light blue and purple) and I didn't even have a choice in the colors. -

Before you guys say beer, let me tell you that I did supply several cases on Saturday night. And if there were more people drinking, then I probably would have owed more than I brought, but what was brought and who was there drinking worked out fairly well. Anyway, here are some of my firsts I did this weekend: - The first time I jumped away from my home drop zone. - The first time I attended a skydiving boogie. - The first time I slept at a drop zone. - The first time I jumped out of an Otter. - The first time I jumped in an airplane with tunes blaring. - The first time I jumped a rig that I own. - The first time I packed for all of my jumps. - The first time I jumped with a full face helmet. - The first time I jumped with a Pro Track. - The first time I attempted to do a solo sit free fly. I am sure that there's more, but that's all I can think of now. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
I learned (after my first attempts at it) that free flying isn't such an easy thing to do. I tried four solo sit jumps. My first attempt sucked, my 2nd attempt was better, my third attempt I actually established some sort of sit and got up to 176 mph, but still it wouldn't be considered a great sit jump. And on my forth and final attempt of the day, the attempt sucked (I might have been getting tired). Oh well, there's always next weekend. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Andi I had a great time meeting all of the Skydive NM people (and the other transient jumpers like myself) at your boogie. It's too bad that the weather was questionable on Sunday morning, but what can you do? Saturday was sweet. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Yup I witnessed some of those guardian angels at work that skycat speaks of. Here's my numbers: 0:5:2 I just don't seem to have a whole lot of luck lately with that first category (sure doesn't help when most of the people attending a boogie are male). I got five jumps in on Saturday with my brand spanking new rig at the Skydive New Mexico boogie. It's a bummer that I didn't get any jumps in on Sunday (mother nature wasn't looking kindly upon us skydivers then). But five is better than none. I brought two cases of beer (Fat Tire) for all of the firsts I did at this boogie. Now if I would just drink less and sleep more. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I want to thank all the nice folks down at Skydive New Mexico for a fun boogie. You were a friendly bunch and chartering the Otter from Eloy was awesome. It was a long drive, but I'm back safe and sound in Colorado and ironically it was a nice day here (so I could have stayed at home this weekend and jumped), but I still think the drive was worth it because I met tons of cool people (the locals, my fellow Colorado jumpers who also made the trip and the Texas boys). I hope the weather cleared up on Sunday for you and that you did some more jumping. But the jumping I did on Saturday was sweet. Take care and I'm sure we'll meet again.
