I didn't exactly expect things to turn out this way, but for the most part, all I have to say is "woo-hoo"!!!

Ha ... I actually like living in a high altitude state ... it's just not the best situation for skydiving though. But 12500 is reasonable. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

That's criminal ... ... well maybe not criminal, but it's just not right ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Assuming Mile-Hi Skydiving's King Air is still out of commision. This would be great to get this Otter in town while the King Air is down. Of course I'm not in anyway affiliated with the business operations at Mile-Hi so my two cents is pretty useless in this case. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Hey that wasn't my intentions. But if it does happen I guess I shouldn't complain too much. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I am screwed as far as attracting very many women. I'd like to think that I possess most of the qualities that you talk of, but it will likely all mean nothing since I was not blessed with a certain physical feature. Let's face it, the vast majority of women do not like bald men. Some of the women in this thread have even said it. Oh well ... what can you do ... skybytch Man I wish I would be in Perris this weekend as I am one of those new "A" License newbies and would love to try some RW with you. But I guess I'll just have to hang at my DZ and hope for the best. PS: I did attempt to do a 2-way on my 2nd jump as an "A" License holder with a really cute but small girl who was visiting my home DZ (Longmont, CO) from the Marana DZ in Arizona for the day. But we didn't fair so well what with our huge weight differences and my relative inexperience. But if she's out there in DropZone land surfing this site. Thanks for the jump (oh god I wish I could remember her name right now, though it is written down in my log book). I really appreciated the effort she made jumping with me.

I'm trying to be patient while waiting for my new Wings container (looking like it won't be ready until sometime in mid-October) but it's not so easy. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Was that 9:30 pm eastern time or some other time zone? Also, can you remind us again the closer we get to the 16th? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Being sick sucks ... I hope you're feeling better soon so that you can get some more jumps in. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Here I sit in my insomniac trance (when I really should be sleeping) reading about Tom Zweck's complaints about the airport traffic in Longmont, CO (my home DZ) and I can't help but laugh and cry at the same time. Who knows maybe I've been the cause of some of his complaints (after all I am a licensed private pilot who's landed at 2V2 hundreds of times). Hell maybe now that I know that Longmont has a lunny-bird neighbor, I will make an effort to be quiter when I fly there. Na, who am I kidding, now I want to buzz the goof's property the next time I fly there. Of course I wouldn't want to land in his property while skydiving and I do believe I was warned about him (he's just immediately north-northwest of the airport right) when I was first starting my skydiving training earlier this summer. 0:0:0 I was backpacking in the Wind River Range of western Wyoming, so no jumping related activies for this camper. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Karla You've got to update your profile, as it currently only shows three jumps. Oops ... there goes my 5.25 posts/jump. I'm now 5.29 posts/jump. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Let me see ... 184 : 35 = 5.25 posts/jump Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Bummer that your season will end so soon. I guess I should count myself lucky (as well as not forgetting to put on the long-johns) as I should be able to jump all winter long (keeping in mind there will be the odd day that skiing makes much more sense than skydiving). When we jump our King Air we are 12500 AGL which would be 17500 MSL and I notice the lack of Os at that altitude. But fortunately I am somewhat acclaimated and have never really had altitude sickness problems climbing the 14ers around here. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Pick me, pick me ... I'm not a Whuffo and I like to drink beer (but I'm no alchy). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

You and I are virtually the same size and I too have been wondering what would be the best canopy size for my first rig. I know 190 is likely too small for my current experience level (I have 35 jumps to date) so I was pondering something in the 210-230 range. I eventually selected a ZP seven cell Triathlon 220 (mainly because I'm getting a really good deal on a new one from SQ1, but I'm not flying it yet as I'm waiting for my Wings container to be built) but I have been jumping rental 210s and 230s from my DZ and have had mixed landing results so far. I can consistently standup my landings on the rental PD230 (something in the 80% range on about 15 tries). And I am 1-1 on standing up on a PD210. But I'm wondering if that landing on the PD210 turned out to be lucky or skill, as I am 0-4 for standing up my landings on a rental Spectre 210. The Spectre (a ZP seven cell canopy) definitely flies and flares faster than the PD hybrids I've been using. And part of my current Spectre landing issues have to deal with myself learning to be less abrupt with my flaring technique. In other words, trying to employ a two staged flaring technique. I should also add that my four PLFed Spectre landings occured this last weekend during some very low wind situations and I have yet to master the level-off inches from the ground technique until all of the forward speed bleeds off. Plus I wonder how much flare my rental canopies have compared to a canopy with low jump numbers. Anyway, there is one other very important disadvantage that I have that you won't have. My home DZ (Longmont CO at 5000' MSL) is the 2nd highest drop zone in the entire US and density altitude makes my landings much faster and hotter than yours will be. So while I shouldn't be flying a 190 right now with my experience level and location, you might be able to jump one once your jump numbers get higher and you gain some experience. So I would think that a 210 might be a good sized canopy for you as your first canopy, but there's nothing wrong with being safe and flying a 230. It's too early to tell for sure, but I'd be willing to bet that the weather will be awesome next weekend. Typically around here during the summer months, the mornings and early afternoons are nothing but sunny skies and warm dry temperatures. And then often (this year seems to be the exception) we get some nasty thunder showers which develop in the late afternoons thanks to the convective heating and the mountains (which trap the clouds in certain valleys). Then everything clears out and the evenings are quite pleasant and the whole process is repeated almost on a daily basis. Have fun here in beautiful Colorado next week. Ah yes (my mistake), it was probably the pilot chute in towm they were talking about. After all I did get the video from you guys at SQUARE1 (and where's my rig ... just kidding). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Bummer as I'm off on a backpacking trip this Labor Day weekend in the mountains (the first weekend in the last six weeks that I'll be doing no jumping). But have fun in Denver. Is your friend a jumper or a Whuffo? If they are a jumper then you should visit one of the area DZs, otherwise you should visit the mountains. Either way, you should have fun. That's what I thought, but they weren't doing this in the video. I think the main message in the video was that you're not supposed to waste time in trying to fix the bag lock. But I would think that it's good practice to get into cutting away every major mal before deploying the reserve. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

This weekend I received a VHS copy of "Breakaway" an instructional tape of managing malfunctions and I just wanted to make a few observations and maybe get some opinions from the more experienced jumpers here on DZ. First off, bag lock appears to be one of the more dangerous malfunctions which we may encounter, but it is also something that can be avoided thanks to good packing practices. But it's my understanding that bag lock is not something you can cut away (due to the risers still being stowed in the containers) and one must immediately pull the reserve and hope that the main doesn't also deploy (which it very well might). Now it's also my understanding that as long as our mains and reserves are of similar sizes, then even if two canopies deploy, it will develop into a bi-plane or a side-by-side deployment (neither of which is a total emergency). But if the main and reserves are of different sizes by a considerable amount, then the more dangerous "planeing" could develop (in which case you must cutaway the main before the rest of your life flashes before your eyes). Opinions anyone? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Sounds like you and I both need help in the first Weekend Numbers category (hint, hint). Of course you're in Chicago and I'm in Denver. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
