SWM 38 ... athletic 200 lbs just off of Whuffo status some 15 jumps ago. I think I'm screwed though as skydiving babes don't want me because I'm a skydiving newbie, and Whuffo babes don't want me either as skydiving scares the beejeebees out of them. Boo ... hiss ... but ain't it the truth. Mile-Hi is a Tandem factory. Until I get my own rig (6-8 weeks from now?) I'm actually a 3rd class fun-jumper citizen as I got bumped off of numerous loads last weekend. PS: I wouldn't dream of wearing this t-shirt at Mile-Hi, but where can I get one? Good luck with your AFF training. I have five more jumps to do, pass my written and learn how to pack and then I'm ready to apply for my "A" license. And let me tell you, it has been expensive, but it was all worth it. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I was very disappointed with it. I knew the script and acting wasn't going to be memorible, but I was hoping for more extreme sports action (like the scene at the beginning of the movie with the corvette & base jumping, which I did enjoy). But instead what we got was a gun battle after gun battle with a little unrealistic skysurfing thrown in. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I hope one of these predefined moments wasn't while you we waving off and pulling. I mean one hard opening and there you are, with 1/2 a tongue. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Yes I know who Derek is and his landings are hot, hot, hot. It's a good thing he's doing them and not me as I think I be road kill if I tried to land the way he does. But it is fun to watch him.

Congrats on your Level VII, I got mine done last week so I know how you feel. I also did several firsts today (yes I know, bring beer): 1) First unsupervised solo. 2) First time I've exited the airplane first. 3) First barrel rolls. 4) First forward flip. 5) First time I jumped 3 times in one day. Hangliding safer than skydiving? Huh? What?!

I think I'm at greater risk driving to the drop zone than I am while skydiving (not that I know I'm at risk whenever I step on an airplane, let alone jump out of one). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
First off I am not a fan of country music, nor do I want to offend those who are (but I some how think I'm about to). Anyway, are we forgetting who Toby Keith's audience is? The fans of his music are very receptive to these sort of lyrics and behavior. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I understand you point and maybe what I should do is chat with the DZO. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

But it sounds like our esteemed poster didn't get to jump period as nobody wanted to jump with her. I can understand that there will be times that we low-timers won't be included in certain drops, but how is a person going to get more experienced if nobody is willing to jump with them? Well the dude is now off student status and interacting with the coaches. So if he talks to them about his desired equipment purchase, hopefully they will straighten him out. I personally am not going to worry too much about him and worry more about myself because he's one of those young "I'm invincible" types. I know my first canopy I own will have a wing loading in the 1.0 to 1.05 range. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I know someone from my DZ who is just off of student status and is talking the same way. I mentioned this to one of the AFF Instructors (that maybe someone should talk to him) and the AFF Instructor's response was "you can talk to them all you want, but some of them just aren't going to listen". Yes you've now reminded me of a third freaky scenario which I have been thinking about lately. I am just coming off of student status and pretty soon (possibly this weekend) I will be doing my first hop & pop and I want to make sure my aircraft exits are pretty reliable before I do one. Of course, in the back of my mind is my insurance policy (the cypress installed on the rigs I use) and without that I'm not sure I'd even be jumping period. Things to do on your last day: #1) Don't burn any bridges you may need to cross in the future. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I haven't hit that fear plateau yet, but two situations come to mind which might come into play sometime in the future. One will be to have witnessed someone getting badly hurt or maybe even killed. The other scenario will be when I jump my first pack job. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
