Yah they're giving away a free tickert to Copper Mountain here on the Front Range of Colorado if you attend the movie. If I don't get to skydive this weekend (there's a huge snow storm brewing and supposed to hit the Colorado mountains this weekend), then I should check it out. I'm pretty focused on skydiving at the moment (I have this delusion that I can get in 200+ jumps before Sept 2003), but if we get dumped on, I guess I'll have to go skiing instead. You asked for it. But I'd rely on someone like Lisa more than me. I have the impression that most of the rigs you listed are good rigs and it's hard to go wrong with most of them (though there are one or two on your list which I'm told aren't as good). I recently took possesion of a Wings container and am happy with it. I'm sure if I had purchased one of the other top rigs (like an Odyssey or a Mirage as an example), I'm sure I would have been happy with those as well. There's my two cents for what it's worth. Back to reality ... I'm bummed because I might not get to jump this weekend thanks to yet another storm threatening my DZs. How the heck am I supposed to improve on my jump numbers when Mother Nature keeps getting in the way. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Mission Impossible: Newbie Question on AADs
CanuckInUSA replied to Michele's topic in Gear and Rigging
And to add to what Jessica has already said, the RSL is not a factor in the AAD's deployment. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
What DZ (or should I say city) are they headed for? Also, you need 50 posts to get off of newbie status. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Clint There is also likely something else that is going on here concerning your nerves which I don't think anybody has addressed. You see you're trying to learn how to skydive in one of the more challenging places. Because we skydive in Colorado, we have certain altitude issues that most other people don't have to deal with. I'm sure you'd still have some nervous feelings before your jumps, but I'd be willing to bet that some of the anxiety you feel is because your likely close to 17500 above sea level and the air is thin up. Now I'm not one of the experienced jumpers that you'll talk to here, but I have done all of my jumps in Colorado (and five in New Mexico, also at a similar altitude) and I too experience this oxygen deprived anxiety on virtually every jump. It's not that I'm nervous, there's just less oxygen getting into out brains. So I'm just trying to let you know that it's not all in your mind. It's also a physical thing. Good luck with your training and if you're hanging out at Skydive the Rockies this weekend, you may run into me as I'll be visiting your DZ for the pre-second time (assuming the weather cooperates). LOL ... I should fess up here and shouldn't whine too much about not being kissed in free fall. You see, lately I've resorted to wearing a Bonehead Boomerang (with the visor removed) full face helmet because I'm not all that keen at the prospects of colliding with someone and losing my teeth in free fall. So kissing me in free fall while I'm wearing my helmet is kind of difficult. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

You're not alone, I've never been kissed either (in free fall that is). But I hardly ever jump with other people (they just don't want to jump with me) and I've only jumped with a girl once. So what's a struggling skydiver to do? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Any landing where you don't get hurt is a good one and any landing that you stand up is a great one. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

It didn't piss me off one bit Michelle. In fact, it was a very well written piece. Certain aspects of DZ.COM have me frustrated at the moment (and I'd be much better off if I just ignoring them). But I am very much looking forward to meeting many fellow DZ.COMers come late December. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Skydive The Rockies - November 9-10 & 23-24
CanuckInUSA replied to skycat's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Weather permitting I am hoping to be there for Saturday and Sunday, but the Whuffo boss just wouldn't understand if I asked for Friday off as well. Besides, I need to save what's left of my work vacation days for Eloy in December. See y'all on Saturday. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
"hey i'm in a cloud!! is this no. 9?"
CanuckInUSA replied to suz's topic in Introductions and Greets
Welcome ... do you think you can keep your streak going in terms of getting on an airplane but never have been in it while it lands for your whole life? I can't say the same for myself, but keep up the good work and good luck with your training. It only gets better. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
I had my first beer sometime around age 10-12 but I first stepped into a bar (with no relative work to assist me) at age 15. Of course things were a little different back when I grew up in Montreal, Quebec. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Well I won't ask what you've been up to (though I have my suspicions). But I can only guess what you'll be like in 3 1/2 hours. I have 5 hours before it's time for work and I think it's time for me to sign off now. G'nite y'all (said in my best southern drawl accent). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Sunshine, what have you been up to girl? Isn't it way past your bed time? I know it's past mine and I'm likely 2 hours behind you in time zones. I was playing a late hockey game and am still wired, but I haven't been drinking. That's for tomorrow night (before and after my volleyball match). As far as this thread is concerned, I'm not like most of you who have responded. I work (it pays well but I'm tired of it) and I've been lucky enough to be able to afford paying for my jumps, a rig and miscellaneous gear. But my Eloy trip at Christmas will likely put a huge dent in my bank account. But then I'm hoping to jump 50+ times in 10 days. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

You can either not tell anyone that you're doing a first, or you could say that you're doing a pre-second of whatever it is you're doing. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

LOL ... no relative work for me this Christmas. I left them all up in Canada and will be free flying my way to Eloy. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Back in the early 80s I was foolish enough to polish off a 26 of vodka on New Years eve and experienced my worst ever hangover the next day. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I don't want to press this too much, but we are still waiting to hear more details about this accident. Any news on that front? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

At the two Cessna DZs that I've jumped at, my attitude was more like, "wake me up when it's time to jump". Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I'm not sure of it's available down under, but I would highly recommend Break-Away "http://www.dropzone.com/gear/Detailed/177.html" as an excellent video to review your emergency procedures with. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Relax, think about the dive, check out the scenery, do my check of threes, more relaxing and when it's right I like to joke with the Tandem Masters about their cutaway procedures (like cutting away the Tandem Student). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

You should give yourself a little more credit. Besides, once you become a skygoddess (and you will be one if you want to be one), the guys will be flocking to you. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Ever since I started skydiving this summer, my rock climbing and mountaineering trips have been severly restricted. I guess I'm just having too much fun jumping, but you guys wouldn't know anything about that now would you? Anyway, a couple of months ago I ran into one of the guys I've climbed mountains with and I told him that I had taken up skydiving. Well the dude just couldn't believe it thinking that I had a death wish. But I had to remind him that some of the exposed Class IV and low Class V we've climbed without ropes was just as if not more dangerous than skydiving. I guess my point in all of this is that we get a different perspective of heights while we skydive and it's only when you get near the ground that your traditional fears of heights may kick in. You're not that far away from being an Old-Hand. But to answer your original question, no I haven't PM Bettsy yet concerning the DZ dinner at Eloy. My bad ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
