  1. The canopy is stuck in the dbag. Cutaway and pull your reserve. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. It doesn't look like I'll be needed at work this weekend so I am thinking of coming down on Saturday for some jumping and afterwards to listen to what Hook has to say in his canopy seminar. But the weather is questionable on Sunday. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. PhreeZone just gave you some good feedback. Especially the parts about becoming a good canopy pilot. If we forget about the camera work for now and concentrate on the title of this thread "Life after AFF" you're like an infant who's just been released from the hospital after your birth (skydiving birth that is) and I'm just a toddler learning how to walk so I'm not all that far ahead of you. Get out there and have some fun. Learn how to fall on your belly. Get some RW coaching and if you're lucky, you're jumping at a DZ where people will invite you onto some RW jumps (it looks like I'll have to visit another DZ to get some RW practice in as my home DZ isn't a big-way RW type of place. There's tons of tandems, free fliers and too much solo jumping). Anyway, once you're comfortable with your belly flying and if you're jumping a free fly friendly rig, try some dark side jumps. It will be quite the wake up call (at least it was for me) as to how to control your body in the relative wind. Just get out there and jump as much as you can, have fun and be safe. 4. I'm also interested in putting a small video camera on my noggin for some jumps, but I know my skills need to be improved before I start doing that sort of thing. I'm sure a more knowledgeable person will come along and set us straight, but let's just say that for now your RW and free flying skills need to be rock solid before we start videoing others in free fall. We need total body control to be close enough to make the video look good yet far enough away to make the skydive safe to everyone involved. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. What else is new. Of course I'm down here in sunny Colorado so it's not my fault. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. Party at Kristen's house, who's bringing the beer ... woo hoo ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. I don't have two rigs , but any day now I will be taking possession of my second main with it's own risers, dbag and pilot cute so that I can easily swap mains . Eventually this new main will become my primary main and I will sell the older one, but until then (because it has a higher wing loading) I will initially only use it during windier (spelling?) days and days that I jump at lower altitudes. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. Welcome ... Now I'm just a toddler in the sport so all I can offer is my opinion, but what you didn't mention was what topics do you want to learn more about? Procedures, safety, gear, or how about specific disciplines types of skydiving such as RW, CREW, Freeflying, etc, etc, etc. If we knew what you wanted to learned about we could direct you to some sources? 9. I concure with AggieDave, we can never let this thread die. At least not until the big days arrive and a few weeks after as we ponder what happened. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. I have met the following DZ.COM people: bikerbabe hawkbit hooknswoop jumptandem konradptr pbs riddler rwb skycat swoopinsparky wffc wingnut Plus I've met a few DZ.COMers when I was visiting the Skydive New Mexico boogie last month and a fellow from Vancouver when I visited Pacific Skydivers, but I can't remember their screen names. Of course once the xmas Eloy boggie is history, I will have met many many more. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. Squeak I'm currently jumping a Triathlon (loaded at about 1.07:1) and I would say it's a very good canopy for new skydivers. It's easy to fly, I standup virtually all of my landings and it's easy to pack. But any day now I will be taking possession of a PD Sabre 2 (loaded at about 1.24:1) and initially I will only be using it during higher wind scenarios and when I jump at lower altitudes, but eventually it will become my #1 canopy and I will sell the Triathlon. Now I am definitely looking forward to the higher performance capabilities of the Sabre 2, but it will be harder to pack. Another alternative to the Triathlon is the PD Spectre. It's a very similar 7 cell ZP design, except that the Spectre is harder to pack due to PD's slippier ZP fabric. But the Spectre is a nice canopy (I've flown rental versions and was happy with it). I just went with the Triathlon because I got a good price and it is easier to pack (a good thing when you're learning how to pack). Hope this helps. 13. Waffles??? I do not comprehend here...what are whuffos? or do I not want to know? Whuffos are what skydivers call people who don't skydive and it stands for "What for you jump out of them airplanes". Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. If I have any hopes of making it to Eloy come xmas time, I'm going to have to pay my dues in the salt mines now. I can see it now, the whuffo boss is going to set our next deadline for Dec 24th (or worse Dec 31st). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. God I'm still stuck at work and will be for many more hours. God I hate the software business sometimes. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  19. What part of Montreal? I grew up on the West Island and also lived on the South Shore one year. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. Oh this is going to fan some flames. I personally use one, but I'm also pretty new to the sport as well. But you'll hear that some people: 1) can't afford them. 2) would rather spend the money jumping and thus feel more current. And I'm sure you'll hear other responses coming up ... 21. why should it be any different for women: The smell of jet fuel.... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. That's not why I skydive (I am also a licensed private pilot). Don't fear death, but fear a life not lived. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. If they ever show up (what's up with my order FogDog?) I'm going to try and wear glovers that football quarterbacks and receivers wear. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. Hook I made the mistake yesterday of doing one of my four jumps at MHSD (a three-way free fly) without gloves. And since I was the least experienced, they had me at the tail end of the train which means I was the first one out of the airplane holding on to the metal bar (which was ice cold). My left hand was still frozen by the time I got on the ground. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. Well I just submitted my requested xmas vacation time to the whuffo boss which is made up of three weekends, christmas day, new years day as well as eight vacation days. So if all works out (I'm holding my breath) I'll be arriving in Eloy on Sunday Dec 23rd and leaving on Saturday Jan 4th. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
