Have you talked to LouDiamond and/or mouth about the spot in their Eloy hotel room that I was reserving, but had to give up since the boss wants me to work over the holidays? Hey it's not looking good, but my Christmas Eloy plans are not officially cancelled until this coming Monday at the next status meeting. But as I said, I'm not holding my breathe. Maybe another time, I'm off to bed soon. I spent the whole afternoon at CB Potts with a work colleague (in trouble with the law for hacking into another companies computer) and we got drunk (while he explained to me how his shit worked). Then I played a hockey game tonight. So I'm tired and need some beauty sleep. BTW ... I got your other messages about you and Nick heading to Chicago and yes once Jeff gets his Otter, it will be time to bug him about a skyvan. In fact by that time I should have paid my dues at the DZ, so I could also bug Jeff about a Skyvan. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I met a real cute waitress at CB Potts today at lunch in Westminster. I asked her if she'd be interested in jumping, but she had your typical whuffo response. But there's an outside chance that I can convince her to go for a scenic flight with me (first over Denver and then maybe in the mountains). So who knows, if I was to get her comfortable being in the air, then maybe sometime down the road she'd be up for a jump. But I'm getting way ahead of myself here. Sebazz1 says that I suck, would you agree?
CanuckInUSA replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in The Bonfire
Ah shit I'm starting to believe this thread. I really do suck!!! Check this out. Not only will I be missing the Eloy Christmas boogie, but I have good tickets to an NHL hockey game between the Colorado Avs and the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday January 16th which is smack damm in the middle of the Eloy Canadian Invasion boogie (another boogie I would really like to attend if I can't make it to the Christmas boogie). So I'd have to sell my Avs tickets and that would mean I really really really suck. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Tina Well if I make it to the Canadian Invasion, I'll get to meet you. And of course partying with my fellow country-men would be fun as well.

Hopefully Jeff doesn't read these posts, but Frank has an Otter for him ... LOL ... but we shouldn't get too exited about the one I talk of. I some how don't think we'll fit into it. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Thanks ... of course it could be worse. I could be recovering from a nasty broken leg. Any recovery pictures to pass along? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I have close to 20 jumps with a rented Spectre 210 and another 48 jumps with my own Triathlon 220 (loaded at about 1.07:1). And I've never had trouble landing either canopy. I've stood up close to 40 of my last landings using my Triathlon in all sorts of conditions (high wind, no wind, crosswind, downwind and off field). But that's not to say that I couldn't have a brain fart and biff in on my next jump. As said by some other posters, both canopies open very well, fly well and are relatively easy to land. To me the biggest difference between the two canopies is the ease of which a novice can learn how to pack a Triathlon compared to the Spectre. But the Spectre is a sought after by more people and maybe this is like the first rule of real estate (you know the location message). Sometime in the next few months I will find out whether my Triathlon investment was a wise one as I will be looking to sell my Triathlon and I wonder how many people will pass me by for the sake of purchasing a Spectre instead. Time will tell. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I know for sure that Jeff will have an Otter very very soon. But you might what to ask Frank about this one I talk of before you get too excited. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Sebazz1 says that I suck, would you agree?
CanuckInUSA replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in The Bonfire
No I think Sebazz1 was just trying to promote some pointless post-whoring activities. Then again, maybe he's just trying to get the message out that I suck? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

CanuckInUSA replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in The Bonfire
In another thread, Sebazz1 has mentioned that I need to start a (whore-post friendly) thread which states that I suck. Why? because I was hyping the message that I was going to be at the Eloy Christmas boogie and then today I've found out that my employer (who helps pay for my skydiving addiction) is not going to let me go anywhere for my Christmas holidays. So would y'all agree that I suck? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
You're not getting out of the pie baby!! I'll find you some other time. Maybe Rantoul for my 200th? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I think sunshine wanted to pie me (I'm rapidly approaching my 100th jump). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I'm sure most of you couldn't care less, but my Eloy Christmas plans are in severe jeopardy thanks to my whuffo boss. I work at a startup software company and the engineering staff (which I'm a member of) was told today that we were expected to be at work over the holidays in order to meet a December 31st schedule and wow our investors. So it looks like my Eloy Christmas boogie plans are FUBARed. I have hopes that maybe I can make it to Eloy for the Canadian Invasion boogie (hey I am Canadian after all), and I'm sure I will have fun if I make it there then. But it won't be the same as I was really really really looking forward to the Eloy Christmas boogie. There are a number of people from my home DZ who were talking of attending the Christmas boogie as well as some other jumpers I have met at other DZs I've visited. And then I was looking forward to meeting may of you who would be there. But that's just not going to happen now. Despite what some people say, I guess money is more important that life (at least this seems to be the case with management at my company and the investors who pull the strings). I would like to apologize to PLFExpert for saying that certain things she did seemed fishy in terms of obtaining her "D" license. It turns out I was obviously mistaken in thinking that someone actually needed a "B" or better license to do night jumps. I guess different dropzones do things differently. Anyway to get back to the topic of this thread, my numbers are in. 0:7:0 Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

The weekend is not over so I can't post my numbers yet. But to address your question of why people pay more than once to get license, besides getting an "A" to allow you to jump at other DZs, the biggest reason for myself to obtain a license more than once is currency. As a student jumper you only have 30 days to stay current. An "A" License gives you 60 days while a "B" License gives you 90 days and a "C" gives you 120 days. If you can't jump because of bad weather, no money, no time (like being busy with work) or an injury. Those extra days can help. Now here is a question for you, how did you get your "D" without doing night jumps? Oh let me guess you did night jumps, but as a unlicensed skydiver? Hmmm that sounds a little fishy. I don't mean to sound harsh here but you're pretty much bragging and putting down the rest of us who obtain licenses the way the USPA has said we must obtain them. It's possible to skip your "B" or your "C", but not both. You need to be at least a "B" to do night jumps (assuming you have your water training). It's been about seven hours since I last jumped and I got four jumps in today (Saturday December 7th). In 14-15 days from now I will be arriving in Eloy. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Bikerbabe's SO is a motorcycle racer (and a whuffo I believe). So if y'all attend the same boogie the girls could be jumping while the guys talk shop. By the way, for what it's worth I like Porsches and twice in my life I came really close to buying some sweet used models. But now I'm much more interested in jumping out of airplanes. In fact I have a Honda CBR 600 motorcycle (often referred to as a crotch-rocket) that feels very neglected at the moment. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

My first rig (new by the way) was jumped on jump # 42 and today I've hit an interesting crossroads. I currently have 82 jumps (41 jumps with rental gear and 41 jumps with my gear). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I can't wait for Eloy. It's going to be the hilight of my year. I'm also looking forward to meeting many of you in person. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Nope because I've yet to venture into that territory. Last week I had a brain fart and landed downwind, but I didn't panic and believe it or not I ran out the landing. What also doesn't hurt is that I'm also a licensed private pilot and I got through all of my anxiety, learning how to fly an airplane. So while I'd be naive to think that I'm a great canopy pilot, I am comfortable being in the air. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Thanks for all who replied to this thread. It looks like I need to learn how to psycho pack. I've already found a couple of useful URLs and if they don't help, I'll ask around the DZs I frequent to see if someone can personally show me. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

What about Tandem JMs, AFF Instructors and Video guys? I consider many of these people skydiving professionals (may be not always full-time though) . Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Well any thought of selling my trusty (easy to fly and pack) Triathlon 220 main in favor of my new PD Sabre 2 190 canopy anytime soon has blown itself out the door. Now don't get me wrong, I was still planning on putting another 60+ jumps on my Triathlon, but today at lunch I had to go home and since I had some spare time I decided to try and pack the Sabre 2. It's a smaller canopy (with more cells) so I had to make some minor pro-pack adjustments compared to what I'm used to, but no big deal. I got it right. But as soon as I placed the canopy on the ground and attempted my s-folds, squish ... the canopy is all over the place. I'm sure wearing my jeans isn't the best fabric to be up against that slipper canopy fabric, but man what an adventure this is going to be learning how to pack that sucker. But I've got time. There's no need to rush this project. And if I look at it like a learning experience adventure (no doubt I'll become a better packer in the long term) instead of think of it as frustrating, then all will be fine. I think ...
