  1. Hi Vicky Where are you located? I grew up in Montreal and have strong ties to Calgary. But I've been in Colorado for the last five years. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. Jeremy probably knows more about the weekday jumping scene than I do, but at this time of the year, I don't think there's much action until the weekend (and who wants to jump a Cessna anyway). But on good weekend, Mile-Hi (and I'm sure to some degree Skydive the Rockies) send up lot's of loads. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  4. As long as the weather permits and I'm not working, I'll be jumping at Mile-Hi on the weekends that you say you'll be here. Are you a free flier of a RW jumper? There are more free fliers at Mile-Hi, but I'm sure guys like Jeremy would be happy to do an RW jump with you (assuming he's not doing tandems). PS: Need I say more except that you should be skiing on the weekdays and jumping on the weekends. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Welcome to the dark side JT. Hang out here long enough and it may just change your skydiving needs. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. they suck ... as most of my working life has been in them. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. I am by no means an expert on this topic so take anything I say with a grain of salt. But if you and your buddies want to start jumping together, start jump with just two people at a time and delegate before hand that one of the people will just fall stationary and have the other person be responsible for moving in to dock. This will make for a much more controlled environment. Then you and you buddies can alternate responsibilities between jumps. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. Sounds like us guys are missing something when we ride in a skyvan. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. I know you mean well and I didn't mean to single you out as just a belly flier. If I was more experienced with my head down flying then I'm sure I would have noticed the problem sooner. But as I said, I was also a little pro-occupied with the fellow I was jumping with who corked and was above me. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  11. Thanks for some of the replies people. This was the 1st set of spare batteries which were included with the ProTrack when you buy the product (in otherwords the original batteries warned me last week that their time was up and I replaced them for the first time). And yes I did wait the 120 seconds and did make sure the springs didn't get lost. In fact I had three successful jumps with the new batteries today (in cooler weather than the conditions when the ProTrack failed). It really wasn't all that cold today in Colorado (50 degrees F on the ground and sunny skies). Oh, I do maintain a paper logbook, I just liked the ProTrack's logging capabilities. Now I find it funny that all of a sudden some people are saying that I lost all altitude awareness. Didn't you read the part of the post where I said I noticed the earth was getting bigger and I got on my belly and pulled? It's easy for a belly flier to think you can always read you wrist mount altimeter but try reading it when you're head down with your altimeter pointed towards the sky. What made me pull a little low was that the dude I was jumping with corked and I was maintaining visual references with him while watching the horizon and I didn't have any other jumpers with me to watch when they broke off. So if I had lost altitude awareness you'd be reading about a cypres fire or something worse and I'd really rather not getting into it any more than that. 12. First off it's not the batteries. I checked that. But my ProTrack screwed up on me today at one of the worst possible times. I was on my 4th jump of the day head down when all of a sudden the earth is getting bigger and bigger. Well I didn't want to become a statistic (or have a Cypres fire), so I got on my belly and pulled at about 2200-2300 feet AGL. And now the ProTrack just won't turn on. I even went up for a 5th jump of the day, to see what would happen. But it's just plain dead. I guess I need to send the manufactor an email to see what I can do about it. But I'm not very happy that I will likely lose all of the logged jumps. Shit I've only had the thing since October and it's already dead? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  13. Well before I book two spaces in a room, I'm going to have to turn Jennifer into a skydiver. And then maybe we'd want some privacy. But the video footage might be supplied in the future as I've started to look around for a camcorder. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. Hey Kelli if I waiting until tomorrow afternoon to post then that would mean I wasn't jumping tomorrow. But I'm happy to report that the date with Jennifer went well if you count all the good conversation, smiles and laughs throughout the night and lets not forget the good night kiss. I'll be calling her and I may get together with her again tomorrow night. So a new girlfriend for this camper is a strong possiblility. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. I actually have a free fly suit (from FireFly) which is made up of a jacket and pants. So I could vote for both if it would let me. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. My vote was "Other" because you left Colorado off of the list. Believe it or not, if you like sunshine, then Colorado is one of the the better places to be (not forgetting that the rocky mountains are next door and they are a wonderful playground). Also, while it may not be the best place to skydive, it's pretty darn good. We may not jump 52 weeks in a year, but we do jump all 12 months of the year. And if you can handle the challenges of jumping here, then you can jump anywhere. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. Last night I was in a downtown Denver bar (meeting up with some volleyball friends) when this cute younger (but legal) girl summoned me over to her as she wanted to read what was written on the back of my t-shirt (My drinking club has a skydiving problem). Well we got to talking (there was actually three girls at the table) and this girl (Jennifer) mentioned that she's been wanting to try skydiving for a while now. So after some beers, a good conversation or two it appears that we were both attracted to each other and we exchanged phone numbers. I told her that I was going to be jumping today but that I would call her once I got home. Well wouldn't you know it, the temperature is a little cool today in Denver (far from cold) and despite showing up at the DZ to jump, I was told it was too cold for some people and not enough people were there to jump. So I call up Jennifer and make plans with her to meet tonight (2 hours from now) for dinner and a movie date. Time will tell if either one of us is right for the other one, but at least I met someone who may not be a whuffo (the other two girls at the table were whuffo all the way). Wish me luck. PS: I wore that t-shirt last night because I wanted to be different from all the other people and lookie-here, it opened a door for me. Of course I'd like to think that my charm got me invited into the door. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  18. I made a lot of cool jumps, but without a doubt the coolest of the cool was on 12-28-02 (the most awesome day of skydiving I've had to date) in Eloy Arizona. I did a high altitude (free fly) jump where I zen'ed out in a head down for about 60 seconds. It was magical. I'm not very religous, but I swear God (if there is a God) reached out to me on that jump. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. Hey Dave, ever since we met at Eloy, I've had good character vibes coming from you. I'm glad you're still an Aggie.
  20. Wow that sucks ... I was very busy with work these last few days so I was kind of ignoring DZ.COM, but I'm sorry to hear this bad news. Sending get well vibes to those involved. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  21. You been through a lot and done a lot these last few months, and hat goes off to you for trying to find whatever strength you can find each and every day. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. Cool ... LOL ... I've heard Cooliage has a certain reputation. I should have jumped there one day while I was at the Eloy x-mas boogie. Oh well, I guess I have another reason to visit Arizona again. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. Cool ... but I already own the video and watching it whenever I'm looking for laughs. You know it's funny. I bought Fandango before I was a skydiver but when I was a pilot because I thought the flying scenes were funny (not to mention the rest of the movie being funny). But now I also grove to the skydiving portions of the movie. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. - And the sign says, long hair freaky people, need not apply. - So I tucked up my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask them why. - You look like a fine outstanding young man, I think you'll do. - So I took off my hat, and said image that, huh me working for you? - Oh SIGNS SIGNS everywhere are SIGNS. Oops ... me thinks that wasn't the sort of signs you were asking about ... I'm a Libra but I don't know or care what that means. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. LOL ... I finally found someone who's gotten into the sport roughly at the same time I did who jumps more than me. Keep'm rock'n and roll'n there dude. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
