    I kinda agree here. A cell is what is between the cord-line groups. So as of today there are 7 and 9 cell canopies on the market. I think this 21 27 36 cell stuff is more a marketing issue than anything else. You are right, by using this method all 7 cell canopies are 14 and all 9 are 18. Dan, Looking at the Onyx pictures it seems that the leading edge is straight exept the last two cells. Is this correct or is it due to the lens distortion?     Good post Robi. I hope you were kidding when it came to evolution You did not mention flaring at all. It has been shown that WS can be flared after a dive to nearly zero MPH vertical speed. In theory if that flare is done at the right altitude the 0 MPH vertical speed can occur at ground level leaving you with just horizontal speed that we know it is not much of an enemy.     I have an EXT. I like the way it fits better, longer and sleeker. There is a problem though with my set up. I originally had a FF handle. The EXT bottom, at least on mine, is very, very narrow and tight and it did not allow the handle to be tucked away with ease. I solved the problem by replacing it with a monkey fist hackey. By the way the Wings is now my dedicated WS rig and I use the S3 PC pouch. Get the cordura PC pouch and the cut in laterals, you won't regret it. Memento Audere Semper 903

    I just don't buy the argument. don't use seat belts because they have shown they can kill. Same for RSL, cypres, and so forth. What are the odds of a clean cutway and reserve ride vs. two out? I will not load my reserve 1.6 or more. As a matter of fact I don't want to load it more than 1.1 -1.2 max. It's a F-111 7 cell canopy for chirst sake! Memento Audere Semper 903

    I am not going to downsize my reserve ever. I have two sport rigs with Tempo 150s on them loaded 1.1. The Wings has a Viper 105 and the Jav a FX 111. I also have an old Warp III with a swift 200 reserve and a Prodigy 175 for CRW. One day if I'll be jumping a 78 Xaos 27 I still want a 150 reserve. I don't buy the two-out argument. I am not going to load a F-111 7 cell at 1.6! Memento Audere Semper 903

    NO! Ask his/her pshychiatrist. The student was honest enough to share this with you the least you can do is the contact the physitian who prescribed the drug. An aciaction doctor would not now why this person is on this medication and if skydiving is an OK activity. Memento Audere Semper 903

    Hi Brian I got the book on Friday and I finished reading it last night. Overall I think this is the best and probably only skydiving canopy piloting book there is. I think it still needs some editing, especially grammar, sentence organization, and I would organize the material a bit differently. Sometimes the reading is a bit too jumpy. The material is all there though. I would have added a little more math and fluid dynamics but I’m a geek and probably you did not want to go there anyway. Overall this should be mandatory reading for any skydiver, really! Thanks for the effort man! Memento Audere Semper 903

    I own both a Wings and a Javelin. I also took a really good look at the Odyssey. I prefer the Wings by far. The Wing's construction, quality of stiching, and the attention to details is IMO superior. I also like the looks better and I do not like how the main flap closes on the Jav. One more thing, there are no BAD rigs on the market nowadays. I jumped a Dolphin for my first 300 jumps and I have never had a problem with it. The only rig that I think has a edge over all the others is the Vector III due to the skyhook, a feature I would love to add to all my containers (minus the CRW one). Memento Audere Semper 903

    Very good one bro! Send it to parachutist, would ya! My first leap was out a C130 over 11 years ago wearing a Irvin round, a 22' round reserve, a rifle, and a backpack on my knees. The moment I steped out of the door I knew I was in for the long haul. Lots of things have changed mainly attitude. There are still some DZ that are run by truely fearless leaders with the same genuine "old time spirit". In the end though as long as we are in the air, it's all good. Memento Audere Semper 903
