  1. That's constructive I could not find any info on the sugarglider... All I would like to know is how it compares to the S3 for overall glide ratio, that's all. It seems to me it has more surface than any other suit I have seen. Memento Audere Semper 903

  4. Night jumps are a blast and I love them but get a bigger canopy especially if you are jumping in unfamiliar terrain. You dept perception is going to very, very different. Shortly after I got back into jumping after a bad accident resulting in several broken bones we made night jumps. Instead of my x-fx 111 or viper 105 I jumped a falcon 265! I am glad I did. This was not my first night jump but I did flare low. With the Falcon I was jumping that resulted in a very, very decent swoop! If I was jumping my regular canopies a flare that low would have resulted in an accident, no doubt. I blame that to my vision (20/60), it has gotten worse in the past few years and I'm too dumb, too stubborn to wear glasses, contact lens bother me. I am scheduled for eye surgery now... Few advices, stay in the dark at least 30 min before jumping. On final move your eyes 45 degrees to either side. That puts your focus more on the rods than the cones and improves your night vision. If in doubt use a student radio and please jump some student gear too! Memento Audere Semper 903

  6. Don't confuse a line over with a line twist. No canopy will fly straight with a line over mal: reserve or base. You can see from the video the canopy is turning. There are few take home messages from this accident: -Pull belly to earth and stay in that position! -Never give up: he is alive because of that It would be nice to know his WL under that reserve.   7. Let us not forget that Jeb's suit is a modified S1 not a S3. The arm wings are smaller and more swept back than a production S3. This leads to a very different arm-hand position. Just my .2.   8. Given a cascaded full-line spec with a little trigonometry it's possible and fairly easy to get the non-cascaded line spec. I've done the paper work for my Viper 105. When it's time for a reline I'll put continuous HMA with dacron lower brake lines like precisions' canopies. IMO it's the best of two worlds: low drag and high durability. Memento Audere Semper 903

  11. To add what DaMan said it really matters what the uppers and lowers are doing. If you are flying into the wind keep flying the suit. If the opposite is true than dump higher. Now if the upper and lower winds come from different directions (very common in our area) you have to know the altitude they switch and the direction of both to make the most correct decision. In my case no matter where I am and what they winds do I dump between 3 and 4 K and take it from there. I like landing out anyway Memento Audere Semper 903

Don't go with anything smaller than a 28" c.) Mesh size of pilot chute You mean large hole vs. small? In skydiving stick with the small. d.) Is a hackey ok or should I use something else (I have heard that base jumpers advise against using a hackey) A hackey is fine in skydiving. In BASE we use internal hackeis. I have a monkey fist on my skydiving set up and so good so far. Few more things: open up the corners of yor contaier if you can, ask your rigger or the manufacture.   18. I don't think WL by itself tells the whole story. Take a Xaos-27 68 and a 98 at the same WL. The 98 will go further while the 68 will be faster. I know a lot of competitors are keeping the same WL by wearing lead and going up in size if they want distance. Memento Audere Semper 903

  20. I know a bigger canopy needs more air to inflate. What I don't know is if that correlates with heading. From skydiving we know that heading and size of the canopy does not correlate: you got a model that opens right on in one size and not so good in another either bigger or smaller.
