first line of defense: security guard that prowls the community. Second: key to operate the elevator. Third: Top floor of Condo complex Fourth: Trip hazards strategically placed around the home by two year old daughter. Fifth: Bad language and rude gestures. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Yes. The new GI Bill will pay BAH at e-5 rates. Plus, they will pay full tuition at the max of the highest tuition of the University of that state. Yes, but it doesn't have to be intelligence. Most electronic rates and such apply. But an intel rate from a EM is may be a challenge. Nope, you don't get into intel till you pass your clearance. Then he would get the 20,000 to use for whatever he wants to. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

What type of handgun do you have for "home defense"
nanook replied to Tuna-Salad's topic in Speakers Corner
Home defense? I use a Hi-power 9mm carbine. It's a cheapo no thrills rifle that consists of a stock, hand grip and about 18" barrel. The 10 round magazine goes up in the handgrip. It's ugly but reliable and accurate. It's not an M4, but I am just as comfortable with it. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -

I read the article and some things need to be cleared up first: This is said by the article to describe what Iraq consider as their definition on which they can exercise jurisdiction. This article seems to contradict itself. It quotes part of a law that answers the question it asks. Then the article says "I don't think so" and "Maybe not" and doesn't point out a loophole. Either its an article that requires a insider common belief of fans' assumptions as a core support, or a seriously bad written piece. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

It looks like it is actually answering to another branch. There's trials being held by the courts. If you are referring "answering to one branch" as taking orders from one branch, you have described practically every govt job, contract, ect ect. How are they immune? _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Well, in the wall's perspective, I don't think it knows the difference. But, if I remember correctly in the eighties, some people still got over and around it. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

How is this odd? Battle lines are not what are used to determine offensive troops from security _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

That's a good enough explaination for me. I'll side with the photo being real. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

It's hard to say without knowing how much attention the gov't actually paid to the small time users. I would guess that taking away the drugs' illegality will not free up extra police as they will be now paying attention on other crimes that drugs attention previously took up. With the decriminalization, I believe that it may decrease overall arrests, but more violent crimes may rise with the hard drugs being legal for everyone. So non-violent crimes will decrease considerably, and overall crime may drop, but an increase of violent crime would prevent overall crime from decreasing to the point hypothesized by decriminalization. I'm interested in the effect it would have in the U.S. Afterall, Mexico is a main corridor for U. S. drugs. For one, Mexico's demand may increase a bit because it is a decriminalization. That is less drugs not crossing over our borders because of it. Total output needs to increase over the borders to keep up with present demand. Prices due to scarcity will increase in Mexico and will rise sharply here in the U. S. I am going to take a WAG and say drug trafficking will increase considerably and rise drug trade violence in the U. S. and maybe more so in Mexico. The U. S. will have to have more agents at the U.S./Mexico borders to prevent the casual users from crossing over as personal portage will increase considerably. Also, since everyone can come over the border and legally do any drug they want, it may change crime demographics in both cities. Possesion crimes may decrease in San Diego, but there may be more addicts leading to shift of crimes. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

I thought so too. But I could be wrong. . . 1) How soon after takeoff would you retract landing gear? Are the gear actuators/motors fast enough to bring the gear in and close wheel wells before the aircraft clears the light trees at the end of the runway? 2) What would the purpose of Sidewinders be in Afghanistan? Does the Taliban have aircraft? Those are exclusively air intercept missiles. But, I see slight flaps deployed and a heat trail behind the exhaust that are wide open (usually that wide open because afterburners are open) so maybe it was doing a buzz over the lengh of the runway. And what rules say that you can't have sidewinders over there? For all I know, it could have been ferried over from it's country of origin. So, I don't know. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

A well placed strike can subdue someone easier than 4 or more people can any time of the day by themselves. Try this: Get four guys to wrestle with you. Ball up your body on the floor and bring your arms around one leg then lock your fingers together. INstruct them try to flatten you out on your belly with your hands restrained your back. Here's the trick. Stuff something down your pants that will represent a weapon. If anyone ever gives you the chance pull it out and "use it" on one of them. Now, have three try to straighten you out for a minute, then have the fourth come up and tickle you or wet-willy you or something like that(this is their "strike"). You are going to squirm a little differently and may give them an advantage to better restrain you and eventually find that "weapon" after they finally get the ability to frisk you. What I am trying to demonstrate was that: 1) no frisking is able to be performed effectively without being positively controlled and restrained. Who knows what he could have carried. 2) wrestling with a lot of people of the opposite sex is fun That guy was non-compliant. That means he's unpredictable. The chances of non-compliance leading to violence is too great to take any chances. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

http://kstp.com/article/stories/s1087418.shtml?v=1 this is the video I am looking at. I see the kicking and the punching, but I also see someone that is still actively resisting, not fully restrained, not permitting himself to be cuffed and the kicking and punching being advantageous to decrease his resistance. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

What do you want from them? A glass of water? If they are after you they are protecting and serving the citizens from you. 1) Its hyprocritical to expect the Police to serve and protect you and then turn around and call them names when they serve and protect the citizens from you being stupid. 2) If you act up, why should cops give up their right to protect themselves from someone who may be dangerous? They can't take a chance and wait to see if you are really going to try to hurt them or if you are just a shit talker. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Congradulations on your retirement! I went cross country with a cat also. I didn't have a cat-cage and was too cheap to get one. I learned that electronic seats and nervous free cats do not mix. She got wedged between the door and the seat controls and my seat started adjusting while I was driving! _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Jesus christ sheeple!!! It will lead to a return on society, but not as direct or dynamic as free education. My opinion on the value judgement side is: 1) there's a difference between can't afford and won't afford. The self employed and the contractors catch me as not wanting to afford insurance. What's more important here, the house or affording health? The extra car? Choice of making a living? I do not believe I should pay extra so other people can feel "deserved". 2) Insurance is insurance. It's a money making business meant to cover those they want to take a risk on protecting. There isn't or was there ever was any altruism meant in these proceedings. If you take on too many preexisting patients, the business will fail. It's the same as requesting all banks to grant the same interest rate given to high credit rated people to those with lower scores. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Nope. The argument was refuting Jones's findings. Of course he will find sulfur in the rubble. It doesn't mean there was thermate there. It means that the sulphur content was normal. I claim pink unicorns with tutus kicked down the beams at the 100th floor and caused the collapse. The U.S. govt has been breeding them for years in secrecy. In my analysis a found trace of bone. Unicorns are obviously have bones. I swear to you rogue unicorns are the answer. I am going to ask NIST about the unicorns. After all, denying it isn't there without looking is plain old stupid! _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
