Wow. This post really surprises me. I had no idea some of these people were no longer "in the sport." I just assumed that most people who were posting on dz.com were either in the sport currently or in the process of "getting into the sport." I'm sad for those who have stepped back from it. It's been a really tough year this year - way too much carnage. After losing a close friend at the WFFC this year, I stopped to think for a few days. Then I realized that if I was to leave the sport, I would be leaving behind the single thing in life that has brought me unconditional happiness. Skydiving is my life. It is my family, my social circle, my playground, my dreams, and my inspiration for everything else that I do in life. Fly. Be free.

I'm 26 years young. But at the end of 25, I decided to start counting down, so I'm actually 24 again.

Damn, I know it! I was there though, I swear! What a boogie, man! WooHoo!

Dude. If you figure out who did this... kick their ass. And then, kick their ass for me. I'm glad you are okay, but I was extremely worried about you, and I don't even KNOW you. I had contacted a jumper at your dz and gotten your phone number - quite ready to call you. I'm glad you are okay, but this sucks. I will continue to react in the same fassion in case this is ever a REAL situation. But people, please DON'T CRY WOLF. Somebody may REALLY need our help one of these days. Good luck in finding and kicking the ass of the person who did this. Hope you don't lose your job.

Chris, you and your Grandmother, and your Mother and your family are all in my thoughts, my prayers, and in my heart. She's going to love it up there in the sky. She'll find peace there. Let us know if you need anything.

Abuse is wrong. Saying something like "slap the shit out of a kid" is wrong. Think about it, say it to yourself ... "slap the shit out of a kid." What??????????? > I'm not saying that all physical discipline is bad - but most is. Think back to when you were in school. Were all your teachers GOOD teachers? Should all of your teachers have been given the right to beat students? Beatings were part of our generation. I was slapped around a lot as a kid - not severely - not "abused" - but probably to the extent that most of you were. It usually scared me and confused me. It treated the symptoms but not the problem itself. Physical abuse has a strong tendency to lead to insecurity and aggression as an adult. I am a firm believer in community service. Kids HATE spending their weekends helping others. BUT, it teaches them a few things: like, there are people out there who have worse problems then they do; and, there are positive and constructive ways of dealing with problems. a slap is quick, negative, and can be misleading. community service or other such activiites can be positive, life changing events.

That's a tough one. Pressing charges would be like passing her off to the next person to see what THEY will do with her. It sounds like this poor kid has been passed around a lot. Remember, she's a kid - and for that matter - she's a product of someone else's assholeism. What are the other options? Can you make her join some sort of club - like a debate club or something - to learn how to deal with her anger issues? I feel horrible for you, but isn't that why people subject themselves to that environment? To help the kids in need? Good luck. You are a strong and patient person, I can tell.

That is one lucky dude.

That totally freaked me out to watch. I'm glad he is okay. Does anyone know what happened with the guy who had the spinning malfunction? He looked fine - glad he landed in the water - but what went wrong? I never did hear.

Rob, they are sooooo cute. I love the pictures of the two boys checking eachother out. Bring them out to the dz sometime!!!!!!! Will you be there this weekend for the End of Year party????????

Bridge Day 2003 was the freakin' bomb. What a boogie! The whole event was run without a flaw, in my opinion. Registration was a no-stress event. Once again, the Holiday Inn was very accomodating and put up with a lot of our crap. I met so many cool peeps and learned so much about the best sport in the world. I decided that I'm buying my own base gear now. I want to go and take a real FJC and learn the right way. I only made one jump because I had to whore gear, but I stayed dry and unscathed. Thanks to all the freakin' cool staff that helped make our day the sweetest. (thanks Bruce, Jason, Sporto, Mark, Cindy, and all). You guys rock!!!!!!! See you next year!

What do you do? Maybe some dz.comer from around your area can help. Sorry to hear about it. I got laid off last November and didn't get a new job until last month (mostly cuz I spent all my time jumping off my unemployment money instead of looking for a new job). Oh, well. Have fun while you're free!!!!

>>>> That sucks. I'm glad he's going to be okay, despite the financial troubles. Could have been a lot worse. I'll keep him in my prayers.
