Error while accessing dropzone reviews.
weegegirl replied to weegegirl's topic in Error and Bug Reports
My review made it up a long time ago. and I think I do have a second username out there from when I made my first skydive ever. Regardless, the problem seamed to fix itself. -
I am just fine, thank you. And I sincerely believe, to this day, that I was perfectly capable of executing that jump. It was not one person that gave me the go-ahead, it was a lot of people that I had been jumping with for quite some time. Oh, well. Thought this topic was long gone.

That really, really sucks. I seriously hope that they all recover quickly. However, come on, 40 mph!!!!???? Even if a gust came out of nowhere, the winds must have been pretty high to get up to 40. Regardless, I really do hope they are okay. They are all in my thoughts.

Thanks for the lessons. Glad you are okay. Only one note... by the looks of those pictures, it is hard to imagine that you did ANY gear check. Things happen over time. If your rig was sitting around for a couple of weeks, don't you think you should at least do a once over? Still, this could happen to anybody. We should all take mental note.

Holy shit. I'm almost crying now. Thanks a lot. That's the saddest thing I've ever heard in my life. Poor kitty.
-
Teeheehee. Sweet! Here are my boyz, Alphonzo G. Kitty is the orange terror. And Dozer is the grey super cat. They were both rescued from shelters and evil past owners. They rock.

Tony DiCola, aka Donk. I've got his phone number, if you want it. But you'll have to armwrestle his girlfriend--or go for a threesome... Teeheehee. Not at all what I meant. I just ended up with a LOT of pictures of people that I met whilst highly intoxicated. However, you can tell him he looks like a doll in that chick's shirt. Here are a few more... you'll recognize some of these clowns too.

Ooh, ooh, I wanna play too! These are from Bridge Day 2002 - ummmm, after the jump.

Did deland ever fly the skyvan when you were there? Actually, yeah. They were flying the skyvan non-stop... and the Porter. I was spoiled by the skyvan and never got on the porter, but that looked like a fun plane too. We were only able to make a few jumps at Deland before the weather turned to shit. Great DZ though. And we absolutly LOVED the bar.

I just did the Florida tour - SkyVenture, Deland, ZHills, Lake Wales, Pahokee... They all have great things about them. If it goes between Deland and ZHills, it should pretty much come down to the people and the aircraft. Deland has a kickass skyvan and porter, but ZHills has 4 super otters. Hmmmm.... hit both.

My thoughts and prayers are with Franck and Carrol. I wish them a speedy recovery. Thank you for taking such good care of our brothers. Skydivers are good people. And next time you visit, wish them well from the Hellfish.

Right back atcha, kid. Check your PMs.

If you want someone to check it out once you draft something, I've helped a lot of my friends with theirs and I wouldn't mind taking a look at it.

I look like rainbow bright between my rig and the rest of my gear. But my rig is mostly black with a bit of red, yellow and orange.

US Airways Commuter Crash - Beech 1900D turboprop
weegegirl replied to weegegirl's topic in The Bonfire
This really sucks. A US Airways Express/Air Midwest commuter plane crashed on takeoff into a hangar Wednesday at the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, bursting into a ball of fire and killing 19 passengers and two crew members. http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/South/01/08/plane.crash/index.html -
First of all, those pictures are GROSE! I am with the other women who can't stand spedos. Bring on the boxers - or even better - a nice pair of comfy sweat pants. Second, that dude is hairy as hell. He really needs to do something about that. That alone is too distracting and grose for me. And finally, the guy has the dumbest look on his face. The entire show I'm thinking "you're okay if you wipe that stupid look off your face!" Oh, and one more thing... for those of you who did watch the show. I almost died when he went to get back up on the horse. Two seconds before I mumbled... "Good luck getting back up on that thing." And sure enough he fell.

Error while accessing dropzone reviews.
weegegirl replied to weegegirl's topic in Error and Bug Reports
I keep getting the following error message while accessing any of the review pages under dropzones: A fatal error has occured: Unable to auto-create user: HASH(0x8417d58). Reason: Failed to execute query: 'INSERT INTO dz_Users (Newsletter,Username,Password,Email,Name,ReceiveMail,Status) VALUES (?,?,?,?,?,?,?)' Reason: Duplicate entry 'MY EMAIL ADDRESS' for key 2 Please enable debugging in setup for more details. I also posted a review for Z-Hills a few days ago and it never made it up there. Any ideas? -
Right. And I plan on it. Unfortuanatly he's been in Seatle for a while and it's god damn cold out. I thought I'd do a little online research first.

Thank you, Ron! And thanks to everybody for giving your 2 cents. This is all really helpful information. As a newbie to the sport (only one year), I've heard a lot about people really breaking themselves for doing stupid things (low turns, etc), but not enough about how to get started safely. People seam so intimidated by new people starting to learn that they don't give ANY information at all. I've watched people who started at the same time I did go out and try stuff with little to no instruction. It scares the hell out of me. Amen to taking it slow and easy. I plan to be in the sport for a lonnnnnng time, so who cares if it takes me an extra 100 jumps.

I'm right there with you. Sit came to me no problem, but HD has been a tough one. There seams to be a lot of good advice here. I can tell you one thing - coaching helps A LOT. I just got back from Florida and got some coaching from Pip Redvers. Just seeing the video was enough to say DUHHHH. Excuse me, I'm going to go stand on my head now.

Forgive me if this has been covered before. I looked back quite a bit and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. When is somebody "ready" to start messing around with swooping and hook turns, etc. I am insanely conservative, but I'm starting to feel like I'm ready to try something a bit different. What are some of the things you should definitely have accomplished before moving on to a "different" kind of landing style? What are some of the first steps? I plan on asking around my DZ before doing anything, just wondering if there are any dz.com opinions on this subject.

My boyfriend and I just took a two week trip to Florida to get away from the cold (Michigan). ZHills was by far the best dz we visited. Camping was perfect. The shower facilities were some of the cleanest we've seen - lots of hot water too. Manifest was very nice - big bonus. FOUR OTTERS. Loads ran non-stop. Turned quickly. Well organized. And I didn't make a solo once. Great freefly coaching with Pip, as well as experienced jumpers willing to coach for free. Huge landing area. Nice variety of jumpers - flat flyers, freeflyers, accuracy, swoopers, etc. And Paul runs a great bar. We ended up staying three days longer than planned. Simply put: Don't miss this dz. Go there!

How dare you!!!! Bet it was fun! What kind of rig are you gonna get?

I absolutly LOVED that show. Tons of energy. The best way to see it, is without knowing what to expect. So, I suggest NOT reading any more posts on it until after. Very loud and very interactive. Fun as hell.
