http://www.dropzone.com/features/C-182CrashAFirstJumpStor.shtml I'm sorry. I know that this has been talked about before, since the story is now a few weeks old. But they just put an article up on the homepage about Travis Marshall's first jump. In my opinion, this guy deserves a huge amount of praise for his actions. Younger than I am, never jumped before, and what an excellent attitude. His first worries when he reached the ground - that he lost his handle. I only hope that if I ever find myself in a situation as terrifying as this one, that I can find it inside me to react as quickly and perfectly as all involved in this C182 crash. Mad props sent your way pilot! I'd be honored to jump from your plane anyday.

Are you for real? That is so cool. When we land off, we get the ol' jeep sent out, or a neighbor will give us a lift. Oh, and I've never ever ever ever been in a limo. Anyone want to take me for a limo ride?

Skydive Tecumseh - Michigan - nothing but Labatts Blue bottles!!!!!!

He is the one who convinced me to cutaway my whuffo boyfriend and go all out in the sport. Hmmmm.... funny how we ended up together days later.
-
Are you kidding? That is really funny. Wow. Teeheehee. Men are so easy to please. (oops, did I say that out loud?)
-
Yay! Thank you tunnel people!
-
That's scary. Wow. Too bad you can't jump.

It depends on what you consider family. As far as relative family, I don't tell them any of the bad stuff. I have my dropzone family there for support and I'm there for them. I don't think my relative family would understand. It scares them too much. They don't understand that we (skydivers) accept the risk and do what we love regardless. What a sad thing to think about.

Hey, speaking of better organized. Don't get me wrong - Jason and his wife did an absolutly rockin job this year. But, the busses. God damn. I think I waited about 40 minutes to catch a ride to the top after my jump. There was about 15 minutes where nobody jumped at all, because all the jumpers were stuck at the bottom of the hill. That would be my only suggestion for next year. What do you think?
-
Was he jumping a round? Nope. Alright, cool. So it wasn't him you were talking about? I was just starting to give him shit about that. Those long delays were really freaky.
-
One guy sucked it down (intentionally) a good 7 seconds (for those of you that don't know, it's 8.8 seconds to impact). It was pretty much open-splash. Ummmmm.... Scary as it sounds. I think that was my boy that you guys are talking about with the delay that was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. Let's just say that he gave a nice long wait after I jumped - then he jumped - and somehow we landed at about the same time. He's a knucklehead. But we had a BLAST!

one BASE jump at Bridge Day ...oh, and no time for sex - shared a hotel room with way too many people. Slept on the floor between the tv and the bed. ....lots and lots and lots of beer.

Wet. It seamed a lot safer at the time for my first BASE jump. The water was high, but they did a pretty good job explaining the currents to us the night before. The rescue boats were on their game. The second you landed in they were on their way to you. I will say though, it was scary. At first they threw me a rope, which was next to impossible to hold onto, seeing as my canopy - full of water - was dragging me back out and down with the current. You are supposed to reach around and grab the tail or one of your center cells to pull the water out. But, that was just impossible at the time. So I let go of the rope and climbed into a boat instead. Things just happened really quickly. I think they said that the boats picked up 42 jumpers - and many more landed wet. I'm hoping for a more graceful landing next year.

Ha ha ha ha ha. Love that one.

No kidding. And you know what? They had guys taking shots of every exit and landing and they missed BOTH OF MINE. It was a drag. What happened - I think - was that they got out on the crane to do a panoramic shot of the entire bridge while I was up on the bus waiting to jump. So I think they were switching back while I was jumping. However, I was promissed that it will be on the video that comes out in January. So I already bought myself a copy. Martini Shots was doing the filming and they had a crew of 7 with 7 different angles. They promissed the video would rock this year - full sound track and all the footage they have for every single jumper. They said they didn't care how long it had to be - they would do what they had to do. So, I will have one then.

First BASE. Went the safe way - in hand.
-
Oh, yeah. I jumped and we saw Chris and Theresa. They were hanging out with us Skydive Tecumseh freaks for most of the weekend. I'm pretty sure they had a great time too. Hope he doesn't mind me posting this pic for you.
-
They were checking everybody for bombs and other explosives due to all the terrorist crap. If you get that many people in one place at one time, it's better safe than sorry.

Hopefully this will work. I haven't tried the attachment thing yet. Here are a few pictures though. Jason Bell - the man who made things work. The Bus. Some random jumper. The dog sniffing. The current explanation. The packing area. Etc. Enjoy. I'm sure somebody has MUCH better quality pics than me.

Yes, it's true. I only have 88 skydives... but all from this year. I got hooked and haven't been able to stop for a breath since. If you are planning on buying a BASE rig, I suggest making your first jump with borrowed gear and then buying some. Just to make sure. That's all it took for me was one jump. It's a different feeling all together than a skydive. The fall is different, the ground rush is different. Similar, but in my opinion, way more of a rush. You don't have time for Plan B.
-
Not overly familiar with any of these guys... however, I recognized quite a few dz.comers from their pictures. There were a ton of people there. We took over the Holiday Inn. Let me get some pictures up online and post em.

Oh, I'm hooked. I'll be buying a B.A.S.E. rig this winter.

Went down to Bridge Day with my dz crew, not expecting to jump as I was not registered. Jason let me register Friday evening with a few other stragglers. It rocked. The most ridiculously surreal feeling in the world standing on top of that bus. The world just got quiet for a minute - I took a deep breath - and I was gone. Landed in the water - on purpose. Enjoyed every second. Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen!!!!! Next to no injuries or mals. I saw a few line twists, someone land on the railroad tracks, a sprained ankle from a hard landing, and a lacerated butt (who won a belly mount for his entertainment). Oh, and a repeller had a bad day with a small fall and a back injury. All together - FANTASTIC!

I just want to be that high, looking down at the ground, flying.

I live in flat and cold Michigan. Snow won't stop me. As long as the plane will fly, there are hop and pops.
