Bill said that "magnets come from about 1 gauss to 120." I work with magnetic fields on a daily basis. We have magnets that are 3.5k gauss. 1 gauss is roughly the strength of the earth's magnetic field. 35g is not much at my work. Certainly not enough to hold anything heavier than ferrous dust. Why the discrepancy? A fridge magnet has more gauss than 35. Whats up? take care, space

Nice one! Thanks alot for sharing! take care, space

Not at all. Unless one thinks that similar aspect ratio is the the basis. When Stane started building BASE canopies, He had no Mojo (his or anyone elses) to base it own. Take care, space

visually check for twists in their harness and proper leg & chest strap routing. Hallo! what is the matter? too many many trees in the way to to see the forest?
-
I am quite amazed that only one (Carpediem) has mentioned this. Nothing else matters if one falls out of the harness. My gear check? 3 rings? blah. Check them when I packed including Cutaway handle position on the packing and at gear up. Check rings twice on the hookup during rigging. Harness twist, threaded properly Legstraps and Chest strap at gear up point. Shoelaces. And last and least, PC status. take care, space

I tried to send this via PM. But anyway. "break" Merriam-Webster dictionary: Definition:1 a : to separate into parts with suddenness or violence b : FRACTURE c : RUPTURE d : to cut into and turn over the surface of e : to render inoperable . Hookitt was spot on with his response. It is not a joke. If you mean "brake" Try try this one: Your profile states: Real Name: No name entered. Email: No email entered. So: a. you want help. b. No profile info. c. You don't understand English or American language. d. Slop in one area (misuse of words) of one's life tends to propagate to other areas of one's life(460 credit). This is equal (assuming that English is your mother language) to saying:"I caint spell BASE but I can do it.". Forgive me if English is not your mother tongue. Send me a PM and I can help you sort it provided that you give me a profile., take care, space

When will they start making these canopies? Take care, space

Dialing one's canopy (Brake setup) in with skydiving is the best way before BASEing it. Ultimately, YOU are responsible. Trust no-one's opinion. Only your own. take care, space

Stalls on opening or landing? There is about a 6 inch difference on toggle placement on a 260 (with me and my weight) to get the same flare power slider up vs slider down (assuming one uses the line release mod) take care, space
-
One inch? If that made a difference, you are jumping one hell of a small canopy. take care, space

Which do you mean. Toggle to canopy or fingertrap to canopy? take care, space

Eddie’s last jump. There was a pre-jump briefing: Eddie planned to video, from a back-to-earth position, with Hartkor_Fakker tracking for 4sec; Eddie would then return to a face-to-earth position and deploy at 8sec. The jump went as planned with a 3rd jumper observing from the exit point. The 3rd jumper saw that Eddie deployed and had a 180 and then flew, without any corrections, until he was out of sight underneath the exit point. The next sighting was by Hartkor_Fakker, who had opened, and saw Eddie tumbling down the cliff for approximately 300m to the cliff base. He then called Rescue. The 3rd jumper landed near Eddie and hiked up to the cliff base and arrived at the same time Rescue Helicopter. The rescuers pronounced Eddie dead on the scene. We (the area jumpers) have interest in inspecting his equipment and if this is possible, we will post the findings. That’s all for now, Fly Free Eddie, Take care, space

I am getting all the details together of what happened. Please have patience. I will post soon. Thanks, take care, space

Absolutely not the same on unstable to impact. One can only do this once. Unstable until impact and unstable on opening are 2 different things. My view of unstable is loss of control of the 3 axis. I have not seen Jeb do this. Impact is impact. I don't think the dialogue we are having is going the direction of my response to Avery. A lot of what I mean is due to back exits whilst filming another jumper above. take care, space

I don't want to insinuate that this was the kicker for the chain of events, but it is worth looking into. I think the count is 8 for Fatalities that exited this way.The first that I know of was in Kjerag '96 This is from the “Bad Ideas” list thread: Clicky “The goal here is to list bad idea practices in the art of packing and also BASE jumping. The list (of how not to get on "The List"). 1. Using Pull up cords or rubberbands as a PC packing aid (2 fatal, 1 possible AFAIK). 2. Car Battery as a packing weight. (1 near fatal.AFAIK) 3. Exiting on one's back to video those exiting after (5 fatal. AFAIK). 4. Hackeysack type PC handle entanglement with bridle. (1 fatal.AFAIK) 5. Miss rigging the brake lines in a pack transition from slider down to slider up. (1 fatal.AFAIK). 6. Unstable freefall until or almost until impact. (4 fatal .AFAIK)” Take care, space

base_Rigger, Here is my merry Christmas crap for you. “Rigger” denotes the ultimate trust. Trusting one’s life to someone more knowledgeable. You have really screwed this trust thingy up by claiming to be another and giving people crap under that impersonation. WTF were you thinking? So if somebody needs a repair on their gear, I guess you are number 1 one who not to call. I am a little angry that you belittle the term “rigger” with your crap. I am a rigger and people trust me. I’ve rigged some tremendous stuff. Because people trusted me. You are just farking off. Rant over Take care, space

Depends on how long you keep it wet. I would think that drying it and rinsing it out later wouldn't make much difference. As long as you don't stress the canopy and lines. It's not so much the material degradation you will notice as the line degradation when jumping unrinsed canopies. I do know of one incident of lines breaking at 150 jumps because of this salt crystalization you speak of. Hope this helps, take care, space

Well, I took the foto of the dog shit bin being full of Fatfood wrappers and the Human bins being empty. I thought that this was a cultural statement. I always heard that in USA, that dogs were cleaner than us humans. Go figure. Regardless, It brought a smile from me lady as we were impressed with the irony. take care, space
