    BASE game

Actually it means Ballistic Aviators Seeking Earth. It´s meant to throw off the public from the other 7 types of objects that we regularly jump. take care, space
  4. I think that labrys was refering to Peter Gambs' stunt. It did involve BASE and a motorcycle. @ labrys, It is still considered a BASE stunt as it (motorcycle) is not an aircraft. Same for cars, bicycles, skateboards and ski's etc. hope this helps, take care, space
  5. August 8 - Jake Kilfoyle & Peter Gambs for starters. (click on the DZ.com Home page for the link at the top) Peter is the "Rocket Man" doing ultra low BASE freefalls. I haven't seen any footage until yet but I was part of Peter's crew and watched the stunt develop. Take care, space
  6. All Helmets on the market except for speed skiing I think, are not very aerodynamic for tracking or wingsuiting. The airflow in these modes are perpendicular to riding a bike or skateboard. I have limited my crap helmet for low jumps because it craps out my tracking. I am looking for a good tracking helmet though and its hard to find something better than no helmet. Let me know if you know of any. take care, space
  7. Like Tom said, also.. Why not go hand held with the PC in your other hand, the one on the downwind side? Also note that on lighter crosswinds/short delays that one tends to turn into the wind due to the shoulders being parallel to the horizon and and the extraction angled rather than perpendicular. With stronger winds this can do the opposite. Easiest to explain is that at lighter crosswinds, you influence the canopy, and at higher it influences you. take care, space

  9. That would be me in the interviews, on the "Part 4" I clown around. There´s a lot good stuff in the magazine apart from the clown around, Different faces, Lots of talent. Great editing in my opinion. But I think it is censored in Denmark because of Faber .

Thanks Nick, You have a very valid point. My apologies for coming off in a negative manner to you Hydroguy. "-10" for me. Although, Tis better to ask a stupid question and get a stupid answer than to not ask and remain stupid. But still the fact remains that some people are very gear ignorant. Afraid to do a LRM because they may misroute a brake line for example. This is not an advancement of the sport IMHO. One's gear is the link between the "Pre Exit" Universe and the "Good Landing" Universe. It behooves one to be as knowledgable about this link as possible. And yes, if one is jumping a one canopy rig one should have the technical expertise of a rigger. One is not jumping without a reserve. One is jumping without a main. What more motivation does one need to learn about one's gear? Why are they asking these questions? Why do they not know? Have we failed our fledglings? What can we do about it? Basic rigging knowledge should be a prerequisite before the exit. If one has a bad exit many things can happen, if one has a fatal rigging error....... Please, Instructors and Mentors, teach basic rigging. Jumpers please learn basic rigging. Please, everybody. take care, space

Are you so insecure about your knowledge base? reality check is due. Why do you not know the answer my young grasshopper? Are you in over your head? "-2" for you in BASE jumping life longetivity. "+1" for asking a question showing your ignorance of the very things that can save your life in this sport. take care, space

  17. Can you even take the time to post what it is about? Your link doesn't deserve to be clicked on as also your post since there is no info in it. A step in the right direction would be to provide a summary instead of "Check this out!" type of post Thanks take care, space

    Just curious....

Certainly to "start" the extraction could easily be in the sub 1mn range. Have things changed so much? Got a vid one can put a stopwatch to? Show me and I shall beleive. Otherwise I stick by my statement. take care, space

    Just curious....

I think you are missing the point so I will explain more. Near drownings (inhaling water) can and has been fatal even though unconsciousness did not occur, The lungs can quit functioning on the victim hours after. Not to mention the induced pneumonia that accompanies it that they will get assuming they survive. One will dry, but one may not heal. It's not like in Hollywood where the babe is rescued from drowning and she makes love to her rescuer immediately after. Also your point is rather mute about the skilled boat drivers. They will extract the jumper whether he is alive or dead, quickly. "less than a minute" is a time you made up on the spot, you can't bs me on that one. Been there done that. Dead or unconscious jumpers don't fight you like a drowning jumper does and are therefore quicker to extract but it is still more than a minute. 3-5mn are more realistic. And sorry but why did you compare a totally unrelated situation and then say it's not comparable. I don't get it. FG was a friend and he could swim. Is this a "Straw man"? "A straw man argument is a logical fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position. To "set up a straw man" or "set up a straw-man argument" is to create a position that is easy to refute, then attribute that position to the opponent. A straw-man argument can be a successful rhetorical technique (that is, it may succeed in persuading people) but it is in fact misleading, since the argument actually presented by the opponent has not been refuted." If one can't swim, don't land in the water. take care, space

    Just curious....

What if one can't swim? I don't think that the mantra "dry faster than heal" applies in this situation. One fatality from BASE there resulted from this already. Food for thought. take care, space
  22. Why do I see only 29 choices? How can one answer this question when you left out the 38 others? this sux, but I have done more than 50% than the first 29. whatup? take care, space
