  1. In response to this thread " Confused? .. Why?" and to prove to my young friend (Calvin19) that he may be mistaken ("if you're alone or the last one off, you cant do a Direct-Bag, (dbag)". I shall present the following story. I learned DB from the Grimm leaper. He was a selfish guy. He always wanted me to bag him off. So I sorted a way for me to bag me off. "D-bag- o matic. The prob was that I left my 40$ deployment bag topside. And I thought that there must be a way to use something cheaper. I searched thru my girlfriends lingere, pillow cases, purses. and could find nothing, I took a cold shower to clear my mind and as I stepped into my Levi cutoffs I noticed that the the beltloops could hold rubber bands. My raven III fit into my Levis' cutoffs perfectly. I sewed up the legs and left a little space for the staticline to loop around the seams in the crotch and it worked. I realized that a big guy will have big jeans and a small guy will have little ones, and they all are relative to the canopy pack volume. I probaly left at least 15 Levi cutoffs with rubberbands on the beltloops on different antenneas around Louisiana with a bridle concentrate around the crotch. Levi's jeans were 20$ at the time. I polished off my Levi's at the time and have not owned any since. I was doing bagomatics. (self bagging) quite often, but I never encountered my cutoffs again on any A that I revisited. Antennae engineers disposed of them. But i I still had my original D-bag and never had to climb to retrieve. So to get to the the point of the post, A big guy will have big jeans and a big canopy, and a lil guy will have small jeans and a small canopy to fit into the D- bag orf the Levi cutoffs take care, space
  2. BASE is legal. Diablopilot posts on this thread seem kinda drifting. At 1st he was sick and tired of BASE videos on Youtube. Then he change that to "The "look at me" attitude, is crap". And it has further creeped to "Illegal BASE jumping". What is he trying to say Calvin19? That posting videos of illegal BASE jumps on Youtube makes him sick and tired? Wow! Took us 25 posts to sort that out. We be stylin. So whatsup Diablopilot? Did someone post a illegal BASE video of your local perch on Youtube in a "here I am" format and you got busted and lost your 2500$ worth of gear after they went in and got your perch hot? Or did I miss something? Take care, space take care, space
  3. That is not what you posted. This is what you posted "I am sick and tired of... ...seeing BASE video on YouTube." Why would you expect ME to not understand the difference? take care, space
  4. I disagree with everything you have posted in the above quote. Here is my response to these situations: "someone gets busted, and looses $2500 in gear," Haha! welcome to the club "Next time someone who shouldn't be jumping goes in and brings heat," Ummm.. well, they should not have been jumping. Am I responsible? I think not. I also think that you screwed up priorities here. "Next time there is a new law passed against base jumping" Well, until BASERs unite for the common cause, this will be the likely results. Deal with it or do something about it instead of complaining. I see it like this: a. Deal with it = 0 b. Do something about it = 1 c. Complain = -3 Note: I see a lot of "Look at me" on your website. A website is a website. Oh, I see that you prefer to push your "look at me" on myspace "http://www.myspace.com/diablopilot" What is the difference? Myspace vs Youtube? You are exactly guilty of you are sick and tired of. But of course you post your "here I ams" on Myspace, even posting your income. Granted there is no BASE footage. But a "here I am" is a "here I am" website. Irony is unbeffiting of your character. I hope you can afford all people the same freedoms across the board that you have. take care, space

  6. Simple test with the microwave will assure you of the freshness or foulness of the milk. nuke it at high power until it starts to foam over the container. stir it witha spoon. if ya see solids, its foul. Else, it's ok. Doesn't work with skim or low fat milk. take care, space
  7. Sorry that my englisch is leaving me. The word you want is "Harmonics". take care, space
  8. dissonance, is the term that comes to my uneducated mind. The sum of the difference. For example: if a twin engine jump plane pilot has the left engine producing a 220Hz and the right producing a 225Hz, one would hear a 5Hz wawa. Assuming one listened. Or maybe resonance would be better now that I reread your post. That is when 2 overlapping wave forms peak periodically at the same time. take care, space
  9. Being “unhigher educated”, I like to play with MS Excel formulas and graphs to learn. I was trying to make a sine wave generator in the beginning with no clue to those terms. I know what it should look like and what it should do, so without higher math skills, I tried it. But things went weird really fast. Within 5minutes I achieved this (pics attached). I admit that I formatted the graph and it took me another minute. What I have stumbled upon was discovered by a French Mathematician or scientist probably eons ago so my physics colleages told me. Can you tell me his name? I need to google him to learn more. Take care, space

    ITW over Easter

Most excellent time with all the people that showed up. out of 450-500 jumps that I was there for, No rescues, no injuries except for one guy limping. Some tree landings. as always but nothing out of the ordinary. Respect to all that attended. There were awesome jumps there. what more can I say? take care, space
  12. Put up or shut up. I will be a little more descriptive. "Are you building a device that will tell you when you need to pull at the best angle possible? You do know that some one did a study on the 45 degree rule and found that no one could tell 45 degrees? take care, space
  13. Are you building a device that will tell you when you are 25° headlow or can you just sense it? take care, space
  14. There were 2 versions, a pull-out and a throw-out. The handle of either sat on top of you left shoulder. take care, space

  16. Yes, I have a young child and I do beleive that no matter how I died, she would appreciate the life I had led. My daughter Amy, though almost 7yrs. is quite her own person. I have no fear of her getting brainwashed from step-parents. She would fight them just as I did if they tried that crap. I wouldn´t use that as an excuse to quit jumping (that she may turn against the sport). I would quit probaly because I felt like it. But I don´t see that coming anytime soon. Anyways, Take care Big M. space Here´s a photo of us on a tilting ferris wheel.
  17. Substitute the word BASE with "Life" and you would be correct. For me, one jump is not worth dying for, but a lifetime of jumps, associated friends and experiences is worth living for. No matter what one does or does not, in the world, no one gets out alive. take care. space
  18. I still have the foto from 6 yrs ago of your daughter displaying her tattoos on your visit to me in Europe. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g296/emmapuddick/BabyTattoo.jpg take care, space
  19. I have something to say about this. I didn’t vote, but, no. Sorry, you sound like: “You are either against us or with us.” A BASE governing body is the way to get more legal sites open and thus promote the sport. We never respected rules made by others that restricted us on our jumps. some that happened to be illegal. To Paraphrase Plato sideways "Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, good people will find a way around the bad laws. as will bad people around the good laws" I really don’t see how a “BASE governing body” will hurt us. We already have them, at BD, for example. This site is open for us, because of the rules imposed by a governing body. It apparently still gets jumped outside the window of legality. Even by jumpers who have been busted there before. Once again I feel the urge to point out the VDO (German BASE association). They opened a lot of new legal sites and did not affect the underground. BASERs are doing as they always have and getting new legal sites as a bonus. The poll should read: Would you support a BASE Governing Body and only perform jumps according to the rules set forth by the BASE Governing Body on legal events? I for one would vote yes. ("Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws.") - Plato (427-347 B.C.)

I was trying to imply that there should be a BML (Body Mass Limit) put on PC's in the water landing PCs. My apologies for hijacking this thread. I wish Tom would split this off. I do have quite a bit of experience with water landings. take care, space

I felt that there were too many wrong points by your post to quote them in one lump sum. So I decided to just correct them in my opinion. one at a time. a. "towing by the bridle does not tend to inflate the canopy" Towing by the the bridle leads to an inflated PC which sux big time swimming. If I am not mistaken a 36" holds about 40lbs of water which one could relate to 40lbs of holdback whilst swimming. b. "towing by the tailpocket is better" Not when one has a PC on a bridle attached and the PC inflates in the water. A PC is by design an anchor. 1 - flare at normal height if you can tell for sure how far the water is, otherwise flare when your feet touch the water (you don't always know exactly how deep it is, so flare) " space adds a previous quote. "A very experienced jumper told me this is how to deal with a deep water landing" If you know it's deep then this is bs. 2 - keep your toggles. pointless, what does one need them for? 3 - release the canopy by pulling the cutaway handle and clear the risers if need be. Pointless unless one is getting drug by winds or current. better to loosen the chestrap and slip out of the rig. 4 - transfer one toggle to the other hand so both are in one hand now, or drop one toggle and hang onto the other one Not when one has a PC on a bridle attached and the PC inflates in the water. A PC is by design an anchor. 5 - swim while dragging the canopy by one or both toggles Not when one has a PC on a bridle attached and the PC inflates in the water. A PC is by design an anchor. 6 - your canopy is worth less than your life, so if you are not 100% confident you are making it out of the water safely, leave the canopy and save yourself first duh! you wrote: (I have added a few points, hopefully he agrees they are worthwhile.) aa.pulling the canopy by the toggle/s pulls it along by the brakelines, which will in no way inflate the canopy with water and offer the least amount of drag Not when one has a PC on a bridle attached and the PC inflates in the water. A PC is by design an anchor. bb.also swimming with the toggle/s in one hand allows you the best freedom of movement to swim Not when one has a PC on a bridle attached and the PC inflates in the water. A PC is by design an anchor. cc.but the fatter you are the longer you will survive in cold water. If one puts his faith in this on whether to jump or not, I feel he is out of touch. take care and open to replies. space
