Tom, And all the readers of this thread. I have a novel way. Actually it is only logic. If you want to BASE in Norway for example. Contact the Norwegian BASE association. In Germany? Contact the German BASE association. Italy? you guessed it. The Italian BASE association. Clever aint I. Get your crap together (Hint, association) and you get to do stuff like skyscaper day, 9 buildings in one day and still do your illegal jumps as a bonus. Americans have been talking about doing something like this for about 20 years. Get off your ass and do something. Tom and Jason can only do a little as individuals. Work together towards a goal. Americans are lagging. that is my take on the scene of a locals database. take care, space

1050ft, down the wire, climb down. winds change, you can save it for a better time. If all goes perfect, exit, track heading.... should not be a prob but if you screw up any of the 3 parameters you could be in major trouble. Never forget that it is only a sport. You need not jump in crap conditions. Ever. Only the most conservative people can consistently get close to the edge . Everything else is gambling. take care, space

Not at you directly shermanator though I posted this in response to your post because I like your response. Once at WFFC, my friend wanted to pack a baglock, so he took a ribbon type pullup cord and tied the bag closed. The malfunction malfunctioned. The canopy opened as normal. The ribbon type pullup was shredded upon deployment. I gave him some 800lb Dacron and it worked. What I really want to say is that one should think for oneself. If one believes the "authority's word" is the law then you are a nice, well behaved little obedient servant of the master. Move on, nothing to see here. Nice, well behaved little obedient servant of the master will never progress our sport. BrainWashedNotThinkingForMyselfWinstonsTasteGoodLikeACigaretteShould. Question everything or become an obedient puppy for ever! take care, space

Your post is so full of shit that I am calling you on it. "Mil spec rubber stow bands"? What is the mil spec? Common. standard tan rubber bands? Wow! what a specification. Can you be ever so more vague? Where the hell can we buy these vague rubber stow bands? I call bullshit on your post. take care and wtf are you using a bag on crew jumps anyway? BS. take care, space reason for edit: Out of over 100,000 jumps witnessed, I saw one bag lock.

Legal jump database may work. But illegal? There is virtually no way, one can prevent law enforcement from accessing a database. Everything that is posted on the net has the possibility of being monitored by the government. Everybody is trackable. There are many News stories about people being brought down by their emails and posts etc. Before you accuse me of paranoid, check out this link about the government hacking PC´s. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/02/27/german_state_hackers/ take care space

Check out this Guru's soph. take care, space "THE RISK OF CHANGE IS SEEN AS GREATER THAN THE RISK OF STANDING STILL Making a change requires a kind of leap of faith: you decide to move in the direction of the unknown on the promise that something will be better for you. But you have no proof. Taking that leap of faith is risky, and people will only take active steps toward the unknown if they genuinely believe – and perhaps more importantly, feel – that the risks of standing still are greater than those of moving forward in a new direction. Making a change is all about managing risk. If you are making the case for change, be sure to set out in stark, truthful terms why you believe the risk situation favors change. Use numbers whenever you can, because we in the West pay attention to numbers. At the very least, they get our attention, and then when the rational mind is engaged, the emotional mind (which is typically most decisive) can begin to grapple with the prospect of change. But if you only sell your idea of change based on idealistic, unseen promises of reward, you won’t be nearly as effective in moving people to action. The power of the human fight-or-flight response can be activated to fight for change, but that begins with the perception of risk."

Sorta splitting the thread, my apologies. The best Mr. Bill that I ever witnessed was at a Mardi Gras boogie in Covington, La. 1988 roundabouts. We did an 8way from Mr.Douglas I think, and 2 of the 8way, at breakoff did a terminal Mr. Bill and landed it. As I was reeling in my canopy, I noticed one of the guys on the 8way walking past me fully packed. He gave me a BS story about a haybale... take care, space

I was researching a way to lower the amplitude of a sine wave via measuring at different points and averaging the different measuring points. I am dealing mostly with rotational magnetic fields induced by sending a lot of current through a driveshaft (for example). We then slap our electronic sensor on and are able to measure the amount of torque that passes through the rotating shaft without actually touching the shaft. I hope this makes sense. I first want to state that this post in not in response to anything or anyone directly or anything that happened this weekend. The area used as packing is a private garden from my friends (not the bar). They don't say anything about people pitching tents which is not allowed by Provincia de Trento. A few of us take care of the area. Taking in the packing mats at night. Emptying the trash etc. Please don't take this use of the garden as a right. It is totally a good hearted gesture which can be withdrawn in a moment. Which means that we have to take of the care area no matter which tourists trash it. My suggestions are: Hide your tents from the easy view. Place the packing stones next to the trees when you are finished packing. Pack up the packing mats at the end of the day. Be really vigilant about trash and litter. Keep the noise down after 2200. Thanks in advance. take care, space

I would like to post this poster's post from the "incidents" I do not agree with the quoted poster's conclusions. In my experience, the first lines that break as a result of overstress in an in-sequence opening, are the B related centerlines. Outside lines breaking as stated, in my experience, are due to out of sequence openings, mainly inertial bag strip with a flat packed canopy. The main lesson here for riggers IMHO is that when one perceives a change and a malfunction happens, one should not get tunnel vision and limit focus on the change itself. The whole sequence of packing/deployment must be taken into account to accurately determine the cause of the malfunction. One should not jump to conclusions in rigging (or life for that matter) without proper research into the basis of the incident and the trail of events leading up to an incident. What are your thoughts on this quoted observation? Thanks in advance, I will be offline for the next 4 days so will not be able to respond till then. take care, space

Sweet! The whole article. here is an excerpt: take care, space "People try and use the gorge for base jumping when they think no one is around. It is the excitement of getting away with something they are not allowed to do."
