  2. Hoax. Here is the same guy playing with weather balloons. Search Google images for "weather balloon". You see him holding one with a child (he is wearing white) on the first page. His name is "Ramon Watkins". have fun, space

    Wind Turbines

The German BASE Association (VDO) have done it legally. They call it "Blade running". Basically they timed themselves with Radar on the ground and nailed each jumper's comfortable running speed and then calculated the distance back from the turbine on the cell for each one of them to start at at whatever RPM it was going at. Basically, they figured out that one has to pass by the rotor blade just as it goes past vert. The above is a joke.Except for "The German BASE Association (VDO) have done it legally". Normally the wind is in the face of the turbine. . One would be exiting down the length of of the cell I would think. take care, space

  6. What aspects of the rig make it a "Death Rig"? take care, space
  7. They would be egg shape from something else. I would recommend you send them in to get a technical opinion on them and then publish your findings. Post fotos or better yet send them (risers) to me and I will bring it to the attention of the top riggers here in Europe. This situation you speak of is unheard of as far as I know. You're maybe on to something here. PM me. take care, space
  8. The physics of the forces would not do this unless you mean the the main harness ring, which one can't turn on modern gear. take care, space
  9. After reading the text with the youtube vid, I would have to say that it does represent what was written. Sorry, someone musta pissed in my cornflakes. Take care, space
  10. Now this is a great clip. One can see that every opening has an assymetric orbiting PC, and can see that the direction of the orbiting PC influences the heading of the opening. Stuff that has been known for over a decade. These guys are proving it again. take care, space http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18VZazqZ4hs
  11. I think that this vid is total crap if it is trying to portray BASE. Crap ariels, crap landings, crap headings and crap planning. If it is trying to portray crap BASE, I think it does an excellent job. my jaap. take care, space

    height evaluation

The way I did it at Kjerag was to mark the exit point on my GPS, Go in the boat with my angleometer and cruise out until i had a 45deg angle on the exit point to give me the height. and then go to a 45deg for the talus or in this case, ledge, then subtract. Hope this helps. I can give you more info as to my glide angle meter if you wish. PM me. take care, space
  13. Well, if someone speaks to me like that in person, I wouldn't be receptive to the message. Name and shame would be a better way. Why is he classing everbody in the same group? Start a new thread without being condescending like the original poster. Why should I care about someone's local objects when they are as rude as that? One has 3 choices. Whine about it, Do something about it or ignore it. Throwing a blanket insult (whining) aint helping nuthin. There are many, more positive ways to go about it. take care, space
  14. You are really going to motivate people with this posting style.(sarcasm). Try a different style would be my tip to you. Take care, space
  15. Robibird brought up an observation of "Body Armor/No Brain Mentality". This report delves into it. There is actually a name for it. "Peltzman Effect". It's certainly something to think about. take care, space http://www.abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=2893122&page=1

  17. I am sorry to be the one to say this. You call BS. WTF? Why are you asking a question such as this when it is obvious that you will/did call BS on anyone who will answer it. You have your mind made up. Quit wasting our time. From your posts a. “and that was what I needed to know to win the arguement. And I get to use my favorite words; "I told you so jackass"”. b. “Show me proof that someone has fallen from a commercial jet liner and lived. If you really believe it I think your calling the kettle black. Many stories like these are told at DZ's and I felt they were always a joke for the gullible idiots who question nothing. Could you be one of those individuals? I have some land in hawaii if your interested. Cheap too.”. c. “what I think you said is "I like to argue points with zero proof and back it up with garbled english that is hard to follow?"” Sorry again, but this is a typical response from someone who can’t deal with being mistaken. You attack the responder and their grammar or spelling. Where the hell have you been? Why have you not done research to prove BS? Why do you not know of even one of the incidents posted Hydroguy's post was spot on “JAT stewardess Vesna Vulović survived a fall of over 10,000 meters on January 26, 1972 when she was thrown from JAT Flight 364 by an terrorist bomb. She broke several bones and was in a coma for 27 days. In World War II there were several reports of aircrew surviving long falls; Nick Alkemade, Alan Magee, and I.M. Chisov all fell at least 6,000 meters and survived.” Take a hike mr. dime-a-dozen-skeptic-too-lazy-todo-research. Take care, space
  18. There was some speculation that the body armor may have contributed to the incident. Take care, space
  19. If I remember correctly, she didn't have a line release mod. take care space
  20. If one is going for purity then one should swim to Norway after walking to the ocean. Walk up from the Campsite and swim 4km back from the landing area doncha think? Take care, space
  21. If you are really evil, you could blackmail him for free jumps. HA!
  22. No, Bill, We don't want his number. We want you to sort it out. We know and trust you, but you are kinda scaring me now. take care, space
  23. From #7, Kjerag, with a running exit, I did 210m horizontal in 9secs with a running exit. Measured by GPS. Hope this helps. take care, space ps: This was a record back in the day.
  24. I will check this out with my local physicist. It is not that I am doubting the performance of the innovation. Just the measurement and related effects. And Bill, dividing things by a hundred in this case does not make it simpler. 35 x 100 are the mags I work with, Granted this is a surface measurement, these are quite strong. I would be quite interested in getting stronger mags but AFAIK we have the strongest (4kG), Maybe it is just a measuring diff. Will let you know. take care, space
  25. Here is a photo of me measuring a fridge mag. 862 gauss (or 0,862 kG). It is not very strong at all. Where do you guys get 35 gauss from? take care, space
