    Ask the DZO for a free jump. When he says no, go get on the plane anyways. Seriously though, I would be pissed if someone took my rig and jumped it without my permission. If there were damages incurred to your gear while they made a jump, the time and effort having to get it fixed and then paid for by the person causing the damage would be a huge waste of your time.     I have heard and read, but do not quote me on this, that anything from the mid 90's and up will be the safest bet when buying used.     Also, place a wanted in the complete rigs section. Specify everything you are looking for in a rig. I did that not to long ago and lucked out.     The soft hats you are referring to are called frap hats. With a hard helmet (open or full face) help protect the noggin/face in case you strike your head on exit, during freefly, relative work and or during landings. There is more protection from the hard helmets compared to the frap hats. Hope this helps. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead.     Yes, everything done in your AFF counts towrds your A license. After you are cleared for solos, you will need to do coached jumps (with an instructor qualified to sign you off) to get the remainder of your yellow card signed off. Then once that is done and have 25 jumps, you can do your check dive for your license. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead.     All the rental gear there is for sale...if you like it, tell Bill you're interested in it and he will offer you a fair price. Student gear at Lodi is top notch. +1 I had been using his Javelin Oddessy with a Sabre2 210 since off student status and is a really great rig. If you check it out, dont mind some of the dirt stains I put on it with my few "not so perfect landings" Only thing I dont like about it, is it does not have a collapsable slider.     That seems like a pretty odd mistake. Someones print button must have gotten stuck. Might wanna check to see if you got a renewel fee charged to you 4 times.     I have not jumped there in about a month or so. I do understand the severity of what has happend out there. I might start jumping out at Byron or Skydance. Just got to wait till I get my rig back to go check out the other DZ's. I am not 100% certain that I will stop jumping there all together.     I have spent a couple of days learning how to pack and I could not believe how exhausted I was at the end of the day. Not to mention how sore my legs were from squeezing and controlling the d-bag trying to get the damn thing closed enough to get in the container. Its not easy learning how to pack a fairly new 210. In the end, I learned a lot about packing and how much I was not going to enjoy the continued learning and fine tuning of packing. But, welcome to another fun part of skydiving Good to know, ill be packing a 230..... Yay. Shit ill just downsize to a 150 so it will be quicker to pack... Hell I got 37 jumps As long as you got them "Mad Skillz" like some other folks, going from a 230 to a 150 should be a breeze..... Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead.
