  1. Here is a good video that has a tracking roll in it. Starts at 1:18. Got a pretty badass exit also. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvgXxsuNsA Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  2. Welcome to the forums. There is a wealth of good information on here, but take it for what its worth. I feel the same way you do. I wish I would have taken that first jump years ago. Good luck with the training and keep us posted on your progress. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  3. Thats good that your training went well so far. With my first 14-15 jumps, all of my landings, I was coming in where I was either touching down with my feet and falling forward or sliding on my knees. Needless to say, my timing wasnt all there. Then I used the search button on here for any advice or tips on when to really flair and get a stand up landing. I found that someone said that they wait till they can pretty much see every individual blade of grass on the ground. So I said what the hell and gave it a try. Next thing I knew, every landing has been a stand up since then.........unless of course I am landing off the main area and misjudge the 4 1/2 foot grass at the time.....that was a fun landing. As for the legs and the muscle memory, that will come with time. In the mean time, have you ever thought of going to the tunnel to work on your flying skills? Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  4. Welcome to the forums. Any news on your training since your last post? Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  5. I think that is pretty badass. Who says that any sort of health issue should hold anyone back from doing anything that they want or love to do. Good luck on your training and let us know how it goes. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  6. I have just been ordained...... D.S #4920 here Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  7. Thanks. Yeah I am still getting the hang of things up there. Good luck with the rest of your jumps and keep us up to date on your progress. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  8. I would say get as much video footage from your jumps as possible. They can be a good tool to use and over time, you can see how well you progress. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  9. You think its bad now.....just you wait. It only gets better. Oh and btw, welcome to the forum. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  10. Welcome to the forums and good luck with your tandem. You will love it. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  11. I did my first tandem towards the end of last year. I loved it so damn much that I was back at the DZ 6 days later for another tandem. Needless to say, I was hooked. I did my AFF in early Feb and jump as much as possible now. I just wish I would have done it sooner. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  12. I was the opposite. I went to the tunnel before my AFF and couldnt really seem to control myself if my life depended on it. So I did my AFF a few days later and was completley different in the sky. I kept stable, did not go out of control and had pretty good controlled turns. Now when I go back to tunnel, I am very comfortable and I am able to learn a lot. So if you have a tunnel close by, definately use it. It will be great learning tool for now and going in to the future. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  13. Congrats on your jumps and welcome to a new way of life and to the forums. Hope you have deep pockets Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  14. I will second that. Ed is a great instructor. Just did some coached jumps with him the other day. Good luck and dont be in to much of a hurry. Take your time and learn as much as possible. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  15. Welcome and good luck on getting your A. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  16. $15 to the top Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  17. Well there are 2 airports close by. There is one in Sacramento and one in Stockton. Based off where you live, you would have to fly in to Sac. The best time of year would prob be anytime from now till it hits winter again. Lodi is a great DZ and I am pretty sure you can stay there for those 2 weeks. You would prob have to contact them to set that up.....not really sure. Hope this helps. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  18. Here is minehttp://www.youtube.com/user/soty4920. It has my AFF video and my first 2 way. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  19. Thats how it was for me. My first jump was also the first time stepping my feet in to an airplane. Killed 2 birds with one stone.
  20. First off welcome to the forum. I was also one of those people that have always wanted to go skydiving, but never got around to doing it. Finally one day I decided to just go. I did my first tandem last year in Sep and did a second tandem not even a week later. After that, I knew I was hooked. I finished up my AFF in February and now jump every chance I get. A good tool that you can use to help prepare yourself for skydiving is the wind tunnel. I was a little unsure on how I would probably do during freefall, so I did a couple of sessions in the tunnel the week before my training and it helped tremendously. After every jump now I kick myself in the ass wondering why I never made my first jump sooner. It is definately a new way of life that I am loving every second of. Good luck on your first jump and let us know how it goes. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  21. First off welcome. I just completed my AFF last Thurs in Lodi. It is a great DZ and all of the people are really cool also. Though I did my AFF there, I went through a personal instructor named Ed. If you like having just a 1 on 1 session with your instructor, I would say contact him. Northerncaliforniaskydiving.com. I am sure the other DZ are great also. Just giving my .02 Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  22. Thats what the noob is good for......BEER!!! haha Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  23. It looks like thurs or fri next week I will be out at the DZ again. Let me know if you can make it one of those days. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  24. in reference to thrillstalkers post: and probably the hardest thing to do on your first jump is too relax. things go a lot smoother if you dont fight the wind, just let it flow through you. edited to add: dont worry about the weather. you learn as much on the ground as you do in the air. i believe a bad weather day at the dz is still better than a good day anywhere else. Yeah definately dont worry about the weather. I just finished my AFF in 3 days. The first day was rainy as all hell. So we spent the whole day going over emergency procedures, malfunctions, dive flows, etc. That gave me more time to absorb what I learned. It was kind of hard to relax at first, but after that first jump, I was able to relax a lot more than before. Make sure you bring water and something to snack on for during the day. I couldnt believe how hungry I was after the first few jumps. And if you live any where close to a wind tunnel, Go!!! I did a total of 18 minutes in there days before my AFF and it really helped out alot. Hope this helps. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
  25. It was nice meeting you today. Maybe you can jump with me sometime soon so that I can start working on my RW.
