Chocolate oatmeal and a huge glass of milk before work. When I am off work......Eggs, fried potatoes or hashbrowns and what seems like a pound of bacon.......oh yeah, a huge glass of milk also. Microsoft Sky diving tv commercial

Speak of the devil... This year we had a student go through the FJC who thought he was going to take his phone with him on his first jump, presumably to take pictures or something (I'm guessing under canopy). The AFF I caught wind of this, and of course put a stop to it. What does this genius do? He routes a lenght of clear fishing line through the lanyard attachment on the phone, and loops the end of it around his thumb. Then he slips the phone up the sleeve of his jumpsuit, past the elastic cuff, in an effort to smuggle it on the jump anyway. Of course his instructor also caught on to that plan, and again put a stop to it, but it's proof positive that students can and will do anything under the sun, no matter how stupid it may be. Wow!!! Did the instructor still let the student go through his AFF? I would hope not. If there was someone willing to be that neglegent towards BSR's before even starting their training......one could only imagine how they would be once they were cleared for solos. Crazy!! Sad thing is, most people already think that I skydive with my phone. Sometimes they want to see some of my videos, so I pull them up on my phone and show them. They always ask...."is it hard to hold on to cuz of the wind"? My respone......"and those 2 arms are mine also"?? Too funny I think. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. That is a pretty cool phone. I am gonna go do what they do in the commercial instead of getting a Go-pro HD. My mad skillz will take care of the rest Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore. -

Before I started my AFF, I did about 20 minutes in the tunnel. The first 8 min or so in the tunnel, I did horrible. I felt that if I was going to be like that during my training....I would be in deep shit. So I went back for another session and did great. So I think the tunnel is very helpful prior to AFF. Also, before my traning, I went and bought a few things. I purchased my altimeter, log book, pair of Sorz goggles and some gloves. I just figured that since I was getting myself in to skydiving for the long haul, might as well get some of small stuff out of the way then. Couple months later, bought a helmet. And just recently, bought a rig. Focus on your training right now and do not worry about the rest until later on. Arch, relax and smile......doing all 3 of those means that you will be having fun, which will make your training enjoyable instead of stressfull. Blue skies Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore. -
Tips On Packing A Fairly New Canopy
skycamefalling replied to skycamefalling's topic in Gear and Rigging
Thanks for the link. I have used that video and the newest from PD showing how to pack a larger canopy for reference while packing at home. I do not have a lot of pack experience yet. Almost all of my jumps have been on rentals (which is no excuse) for my inexperience in packing. But the only times I could make it out to the DZ was on weekends when it was extremely busy. But now that I have my own rig, I practice every chance I get at home. I am still having trouble with the S folds, but do not want to give up on doing them before I move on to a different method. I do really appreciate all of the information everyone has contributed to this thread so far. Thanks Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore. -

Tips On Packing A Fairly New Canopy
skycamefalling replied to skycamefalling's topic in Gear and Rigging
The problem here is that when cocking (or semi-cocking) the PC after bagging one risks damaging the parachute by repeated abrasion with the kill-line. That makes sense. Thanks for the info. The "cousin" comment was in reference to another member of the forum who has a tendency to make long posts. Read the "MUST READ - Airtec issues bulletin" thread in Safety and Training for the comments about gear knowledge. I would say that they have more than a tendency to make long posts. I see the name in the thread and automatically scroll down to see how long the post is But to the OP, welcome to the forums and hurry up and jump already. If I were to try and go the psychopack route, would I need a bridle extension for my sabre2? Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore. -

My plan is to try and do the top S fold, get it in the bag and then do the other S fold. So hopefully this will work for me in the meantime until my canopy get a little bit more broken in. If I have trouble packing this way and after numerous times with no luck.....I guess I will try out the psychopack. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore. -

skycamefalling replied to skycamefalling's topic in Gear and Rigging
So when you psychopack, why is it the pilot chute is prone to becoming uncocked? Is it due to how you have to pull the top part of the canopy off to the side before you roll it up and put in the bag? Can that be fixed when you put the bag in the container and before closing it? I always check my p.c 3 times during the pack job. I am trying to get and stay in the habit of checking that many times so I hopefully never get a p.c.i.t. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. Yeah I also unpack and pack while I am at home. I just have not quite figured out that right thing to do yet. I have watched the PD packing videos numerous times and they have helped me quite a bit actually. I also watch them when I get bored at work. Thanks for the info so far. Looks like I will continue to work on packing when I get off of work tomorrow. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. I did a search on the psychopack. Based off of what I read, it seems a hell of a lot easier. Now I going to go check out the video on the Icarus canopy site to see how it looks. Tips On Packing A Fairly New Canopy
skycamefalling replied to skycamefalling's topic in Gear and Rigging
My canopy is a fairly new Sabre2 210 that was manufactured in the later part of 08 and has approx 80 jumps on it. When it comes to packing it, everything goes just fine until I start my S folds. Once I do those and get it ready to put it in the D-bag, it just spills out all over the place and turns to a giant ball of crap. I am of course still fairly new to packing, but I did not have this much trouble when I learned how to pack on an older 210. Any ideas or tips out there that can help me get through that part of the pack job a little bit quicker? I dont care if a pack job takes me 30 min or so, but well over an hours is driving me nuts right now. I also dont want to take the easy way out and pay a packer. I want to learn and be able to do it myself. Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore.
