It doesn't have spot focusing. I'm really used to my Nikon N90S, and I really liked it. This 10D has focusing points in the screen and it seems like the camera chooses where to focus. I wish I could choose the focusing point. Otherwise, it's pretty intuitive, the way it operates, and it's very fast for a digital camera. Feels good in the hand. That 20mm lens is pretty freaking big, too. I'll get it in the air this weekend, and we'll see how much more I like it. JP -

Yeah, Leesa, two local DZ's are having night jumps tonight, weather's hosed so neither one of them is going to go... Somebody would have gotten all the vampire jumpers if one had gone next Wednesday or something. AND, Memorial Day week, everybody's having a boogie, but I'M going where the DZ.commer's are.... Oh, yeah, even the hotmamamonkey's gonna be there!

Use a good acountant. The price to prepare your taxes comes right off the top of the following years amount owed. If you claim a deduction in good faith, and it's ruled not legitimate, you only have to pay the original amount of tax owed. If you claim a deduction that's ruled to have been made in bad faith, like buying a rig to improve your mental health so you can do your job better as a business deduction, you will be hammered shit. My wife worked out of our house as a travel agent, and we had tons of write-offs. But our tax guy is retired IRS, and we never had any trouble. I'm doing the skydive video thing this year as a home business, I'll let you know how it goes. Next year. From Federal Prison. JP

He looks kinda Tai-chi ninja-ish. Once, many years ago, I had a desperate craving for a chocolate old fashion doughnut. Had to have one. So here I am, big fat cop, looking for a discrete doughnut shop. Nobody has any qualms about razzing a big fat cop about buying a doughnut. The whole store gets into it. So there it is! Very late at night, no cars out front. "I'm going in". One lady is making doughnuts the other one is at the counter reading the paper. They both look up and at the same time say "Officer Kelly!" I was like "What?" I had never been in that place before. They're like "Yeah, we've got your picture!" Oh shit. Turns out it was my Dad's hang out, he lived in that area and was always showing them pictures. That was the last doughnut shop I've ever been in. Switched to bagels

So it's probably going to be useful mostly on telephoto lenses at slower shutter speeds? Is it effective enough to eliminate a tripod? I'm thinking sunset telephoto pond swoops.

OK. The IS software in my Sony PC120 is dynamite. Do the newer Canon Image Stabilization lenses work the same way? Is this the way to go? Or is the "regular" lens just as good and this is just a shiny doohickie.
