  1. Yup, I think Amy has done her homework Very well put amy! My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  2. All too true, I've never had anyone put me down for not wanting to do more RW but then again, I will never do the opposite... We all jump out of planes right? right! There is a lot of teasing between disciplins and that is both fun and necessary for a healthy relationship between them. I do beleive some people take it out of context though. There's a whole thread around about closing pin necklaces... Could you ever imagine this: some stranger approaches you, pointing at your neck, and says:"Hey man, you a skydiver?" And you say:"Yeah, I'm on team X...(or something that gives away your preferred discipline) and He/she says:"Oh, you're one of those eh?" and loses interest with a snear??? I didn't think so. It is my beleif that deep down, with a rig on your back and a little respect and safety, you will be accepted among skydivers. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  3. My first sit jump was around number 30... There's a lot of people that may frown upon that but you know what? Screw it, sit is what I wanted to do! I can be stable on my belly, I can fly to you, away from you and I can work levels so I'm not crying if I'm not flatflying at competition level because I am SAFE on my belly and that's good enough for me. I hear a lot of people saying it's dangerous to learn any FF in the early jump numbers (corking etc.) but on my first jump I was told that in freefall, if I Arch, I WILL end up belly to earth. Well, If I bring my knees up to my chest, and my arms out and up... I WILL end up in a primitive (and relatively fast) sit. If this body position was the first one you learned, and mentally practiced going to this position when unstable... what's the problem?... Other than having to go flat to pull? Frankly, I just don't see the HUGE danger factor in bringing a low-number jumper into the dark side if they can do this, and you are sure they wont brain lock on you. My buddy had faith in me and took me for a sit, I could not thank him enough
  4. After 50 posts, you're an enthusiast... I'm not sure about the numbers for the other "titles" My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

    I'm so sorry

Yeah, I volunteer my email services to you aswell as I have one of those "pretend" desk jobs were my pay and how hard I work are pretty much the same... Not enough
  6. I like chicks too! Very cool pics, that one you got with the braids is pretty kick-ass too! Girl-power eh? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  7. Oh yeah, great idea for a new thread. I scraped the top of my foot when I dragged it barefoot on landing don't laugh, it hurt My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  8. It's legal almost everywhere but you need your 24 hour notice. Don't get you knickers in a knot over it, just make sure the "I'm bringing some people today" calls turn into "I'd like to bring some poeple tomorow is that okay with you?" calls. Don't worry about people going through your stuff, the "bitchy" woman will be there the whole time and she just wants to make sure the place is not empty when you leave... she's not out to give you a hard time. Cheers and good luck in your new place. Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  9. Just hanging around with some friends in high school, we wer're looking for something fun to do when school was out. So, in June of 1998, I made my first static-line jump with 3 friends (one of which was deathly affraid of heights... we're talking the shakes here we were very proud of him) I was stoked about jumping out of the a/c but absolutely had to experience freefall. I went back from time to time but had no money, then I went to away to get my pilots licence, now that I'm back, I've noticed that I spend more time jumping out of planes than I do flying them
  10. DON'T DO IT MAN! At my DZ, if you can pack student rigs... your ass belongs to the DZO! You'll make a lot of coin... in the packing trailer... listening to people laughing and having fun outside... "Ahh outside... I remember outside..." -Almost anyone of our packers on any given busy day.
  11. Very cool, [poor signing voice] Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you.... Happy birthday dear Skyrose7, Happy Birthday to you! [/poor signing voice] It's nice to see a whuffo friend with a skydivers grin on their face eh?
  12. Congrats on your first skydive! Yup, my best moment was when I sold my Microsoft shares in order to buy a rig, I've not had to sell anything since then but I have promised my first-born son to Performance Designs and.... j/k

    idiot...

Yeah, I bought a Spectre (PD 7 cell) as my first and don't think I could have made a better choice! Easy to pack, slightly docile and you can do ANYTHING with it definately a good first canopy. Make sure you get a container safe for free-flying My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  14. goose491

    idiot...

Just look to the "complete systems" section of the classifieds on this site and also maybe on enclave.com most people will put the ideal height and weight for their harness/container. As far as canopies go.. get yourself a 97 Vx... Just kidding You'll want to load your first canopy at close to 1:1. that's one pound per square foot... Most importantly, ask around Your DZ. Experienced jumpers that see you jump will have great advice. What did you buy by the way??? Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  15. Anyone with half a head would NOT answer that question... It's totally loaded. Unless you came back with "It's the white man's fault", you'd get flammed... I (as a young white man) am sick and tired of having my back to the wall when shit like this comes up... I usually say stuff like "I'm sorry about the slavery in the past but...." but now I refuse to say even that. I'm not sorry. A) because I have not enslaved anyone... (nor have my ancestors but you know what, even if they had would not be a reason for me to feel shitty about my life) and B) YOU were never enslaved and now have all the same rights and benefits that I have. Anyone with half a head should also find it challenging to accept reparations for anything other than a crop of shit! My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  16. Yeah and now he's discovered religion... Praying to the porcelain God....
  17. Yeah and I saw a guy on Real TV that had had lost both legs in a mid-air collision with another skydiver. He has two very stick-like false legs that (while wearing a jumpsuit) allow him to still do RW no differently than before.
  18. I Agree but where do you draw the line? This person is obviously asking the company to incur an unnessessary cost. She has made 3 skydives without having to pay $400.00 for an interpretor... Normal life yes... undeserved special exceptions no! Let's be real, deaf people can be jerks too As it has already been brought up, I'm sure that among the 16 people, they could find someone who act as translator or they could chip in for a one if they insisted but the dropzone should not be made to suffer just because she feels they should go out of their way to make her experience seem more special than the others... Likely, she just wants to be -what's the sign for..- "the shit" in front of the others in her group
  19. what's an ADA test case??? sorry My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  20. VIVA TEAM BLUE AND WHITE!! this is a Toronto thing but it is growing... be a member if you like.... Actually, I've got a royal blue with charcoal gray and black pinstipes thing going on. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  21. Stupid??? Inaccuarate??? Big words... Hey take that one up with the holly father... He's the one that did it. One person is vastly different from any other yes.. but -providing we're talking guy girl relationship- there is still a guy side and a girl side. The similarities are remarkable in how ALL men treat their women and vice-versa... We are still animals with programmed instincts which go waaaaaay back. It's not a "stereotype" when we say stuff like "men want their space" and "women don't want their men to have space" it's human nature. This is Discovery channel-type stuff man.
  22. Why your Penis is Depressed 1- Always being stuffed into dark, dirty places 2- Closest neighboor is an asshole 3- Owner always beats him My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  23. While in Highschool, I took a sign-language course and could carry a conversation pretty well. The course included lots of really neat info on different hearing disorders and the technology of hearing aids and stuff like that. We were also taught that dealing with deaf people may take a lot of patience as many of them try to give the hearing a hard time. At first, I thought this to be a blatant generalization but you know what? Being Deaf is not a disorder if you've been deaf since birth or a young age (our friend in Hastings has been deaf since 2). Rather, it just puts you into another culture. I can tell you now that I've met people at bars, amusement parks, retaurants etc. just because they were signing to eachother and I jumped in.... All were very pleased to see that a hearing person had put time and effort into being able to learn their language and comunicate with them. I stoped feeling sorry for the deaf... I'm not ashamed to admit it and people like this girl flat-out make me sick!!! I mean, her excuse is that sign is her language and it is different from the written english languange but she DOES know how to read!!! I speak both English and French but I never asked my DZ to provide a french translator just because the two were different... Sorry for going on and on I'm just sick I tell you SICK! My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  24. This is CRAP!!! If she needs an interpretor, then she should pay an interpretor... it should not be an issue that the 16 people she gathered up should split the cost if they "won't jump without one". It makes me soooooooo angry when people use their disabilities to force others into doing things. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
