Quote...any of you have any suggestions for a newbie timing a flare? I think I am waiting too long Quote How did you get yourself down under canopy as a student? Likely radio? If so, there's no reason you can't get yourself back on the radio sheet with a comment like "just tell me when to flare"... the guy/girl doing radio will let you pilot yourself down and then say "jumper number 1,...FLARE!" when they think it is a good time... You just look straight ahead and take a mental snapshot when he/she does and you'll be laughing. like this= Some good advice already posted above... "Flare when you can kick a spctator in the head" was exactly how an insructor told me when I had asked. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Quotetry and keep up this time....I have no time for you floatersQuote Ha Ha Ha Yeah, I've gotten a lot of footage of myself in sit as I tend to be quite floaty. Trouble is that I'm so light (145lbs) and have been wearing a poly-cotton suit with quite a bit of extra material... It helped me learn a stable sit but once I started jumping with more and more people, I found that I had to Stand it right out to "GET DOWN"! I'm now in the market for either a smaller supplex suit or some freefly pants. We'll get our levels worked out bud

Very cool, I've done some looking into the art of falconry and always thought it would be cool to have a bird up close to you in freefall. I'll have to get that movie and have a look

Yeah, for the sake of your neck and back... this is the way to go fool, how are your oppenings now? better? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Yeah, that's me! I heard Krista (Pippy) talking to you just as I was leaving and she said she'd post footage of a dive on dropzone.com. I love this site. It's very informative and gives me a skidive escape while stuck at my desk all week Anyway, yeah I'll see you next weekend, We'll have to do another sit jump... I've gotten out of that suit I was wearing and can pick up a lot more speed. I'm glad you and Eric had a good jump though I tell you you can try to get away from those pirates and they'll still stick to you like glue. Did you sign up for the helicopter? Why would looking up to watch the snivel make you turn in your harness? I jump a Spectre and I almost always watch it, once my risers are pulled all the way up. Do you jump a camera that requires turning your head to look up? I don't jump a camera. I was more refering to before the risers are "pulled all the way up" and before your body is verticall. It is not recommended to look at your deployement right after dumping in case you get a whacker but I did anyway which required me to turn my head to the right... As a result, once the canopy began to inflate, my body weight was transfered more to the left leg strap than the right... This resulted in a slight, but immediate turn. I just read that he was getting used to the "long" openings and wouldn't be surprized if the "off heading" deployments were really just harness turns due to the same. Are you happy with your Spectre? Beautiful openings eh? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Just got back from SkydiveBurnaby in Ontario where the Gravity Pirates are hosting the 3rd annual Canadain FreeFly festival. It was my pre-second time out of a twin-otter (FrankenOtter to boot)!!! My pre-second competition (FreeFly scrambles) My pre-second BIGway (15 dudes and dudettes) and all around, my pre-second BOOGIE!!! Man I had a great time; Sucks to be back at work while the Festival goes on They're bringing another Otter this week and Olav and Dave Brown are coming too! I'm going to go back this weekend and will probably be doing my pre-second Helicopter Jump.... Oh man, I'm going to have to just bite the bullet and buy a coupla' KEGS for this month My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

I've heard about the guy who has his falcon follow the plane and then dive after him in freefall. Does anybody know where I can find fottage/pics of this? I'd love to see just how they go about the whole ordeal and well the bird does to keep up.. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

No need. The last words in the aircraft from me to my buddy were "'cmon man, free Hop 'n Pop!" We didn't have to pay for the load. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

QuoteI seem to have had is slightly off heading openings which I had attributed with the longer snivel. Quote Be careful you are not looking up at it when it's taking half an hour to inflate. I'm jumping a 150 loaded at 1.1-1 and am loving every flight under it.. Every openning has been soft and on-heading except the first one which took a turn because I was turning via my harness to watch it. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

reply] ...you're not doing anyone any favors by putting them in jail... And again, it's a fact, that innocent people have been put to death. Juries make mistakes, or are just plain made of stupid people at times. This is also true but if you convict a man of murder (whether he be guilty or innocent) you are taking his life away... give him the chair and he's gone... give him life in prison... woa! What did he do to deserve this day in and day out.... Let him out a coupla years later 'cause you find him innocent and he's already lost touch with the world around him! QuoteAnd it's a fact that a death penalty trial costs taxpayers more money than housing a criminal in prison for life.Quote Huh??? I've hear this before but it is a non-issue... The point behind the ever popular "capital punishment or no?" debate has never been to find the most economically sound way to deal with criminals... It's to determine what to do with them. Plain and simple. There are also numerous references made to the fact that capital punishment does not deter crime. Well this is altogether true but again does not apply to the "capital punishment or no" argument. The validity of this fact based on the finding that criminals of this type do not consider the consequenses of there actions... Thus, one could also say, don't put them in prison at all, this does not deter the crime!!! I do not think all murder should be punishable by death. But someone who takes a life without a second thought.... or remorse... or the ability to change... well just should not have the right to exist and be catered by our penal systems. "You catch 'em, I'll clean 'em and FRY 'em!!" goose, TopGun

"look to the children" If someone is convicted of murder, the Death penalty is questionable... After all, killing is nature... I'm not defending murder but all creatures on earth kill there own inherently at one point or another which is why people question themselves "A life for a life?"... "Does killing the killer not make us just like him/her???" But when someone goes and destroys a CHILD, things are different. I am a peace-lovig pacifist who would not think twice about throwing the switch for this guy... It's not just you My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

These are not a very tolerant people... my guess is, if it was a girl, it would not be rape. Then she would be thrown off the cliff for not giving consent... Or having provoked him... "Under Iran's Islamic law, applied since the 1979 revolution, pederasty, homosexuality and adultery are among a long list of crimes punishable by death." My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

...tsk,tsk,tsk... Clay, surely you are not against demo-girlfriends? Seriously though, this is a good comparison, you can't expect one to do for you what the other did without learning the proper inputs on your side... In both cases. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Should get this thread into the suggestions and feedback forum... It's a great idea and could be used for all disciplines I think... "get your knees downs more.. that's speed up your sit" or "Look at your arch! We gotta work on that arch"

Check this out I subscribe and they send me a catalogue every year... there's nothing on a Jeep you can't fix yourself.. Gotta love it. http://www.quadratec.com/ My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

I'm in the same boat.. actually, the hybrid is what I was looking at aswell.. My YJ has the in-line 6 cyl... the hybrid would be the exact opposite as far as gas consuption goes. We've nicknamed my Jeep "Boozer" Each time I fill her up, I'm reminded that this is a toy.. not a means of transportation My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

What kind 'o Jeep? I drive a 1990 Jeep YJ... There's always something to replace but I love it and will never rid myself of it... She's outside right now (topless in the rain) My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

This was Scottbre's point from the start... You can swim in a lake but the Olympics make huge, beautiful pools... You can skate anywhere there is frozen water but the Olympics make huge beautiful Rinks.... Now you can skydive anywhere you have a means to get into the air but the Olympics will make huge, beautiful Wind-Tunnels!

Ok what do you guys see in this picture? (NOT WORK SAFE)

QuoteWhats your aversion to pre registering? Quote None, How do I do it? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

do you need to pre-register or can one just show up? I've nev... this will be my pre-second boogie and I'm coming all alone That's alright, I'm sure I'll meet some people there but seriously, can I just show and sign a waiver??? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

I think there is a thread about Cordura BOC... My only solid thought is that the spandex systme gives elasticity to the ENTIRE pouch... Should your pilot chute "ball up", the spandex will stretch around it to let it out wheras I can see the possibility of a Hard pull given the same situation and a tough Cordura pouch... However, I have not seen the pouch up close and personal. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

In response to Wind Tunnel Flying as an Olympic event check this http://www.primeline.com/~highwind/whp_vwt_list1.html out!!! Canada, USA, Japan, New-Zealand, Malaysia, France, Switzerland, Australia, Germany, Egypt, Russia, Israel, Spain, Sweedan, Argentina and Venezuela all have wind-tunnels.... Now all we have to do people is come up with one or two wind tunnel games or disciplines that the word would all like to compete in and we have ourselves an Olympi event!!!
