  1. Try this one: http://members.shaw.ca/idgraphics/start3.html My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  2. LOL... I printed this one off and have it next to my computer as I work in a call centre where "your call is very important to us" thanks! My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  3. too much If your boyfriend askes:"what's wrong?" you WILL say "Nothing" for the first say, fifty times... Then, you will finally let us start guessing in a getting warmer... getting colder type of manner, we may just find out "what's wrong". Anyway, I'm with Jvtal.. What's the question? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  4. We wouldn't trust you to set up a canoeing trip anyway My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  5. Quote EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED AND KNOW THAT EVERYTHING THEY SAY ACTUALLY MEANS SOMETHING ELSE Quote All too true, All too true It gets very difficult to "de-code" what a female signigicant other really means sometimes. Or even to understand why she just strated crying unexpectedly... or screaming... or pouting... or..... Perhaps this is why, after a little time with you, we guys start looking differently at doors, windows... or freeway traffic
  6. yeah really... thanks, I was impressed that I could get the ROFL
  7. ??? what stands for the M, A and O? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  8. I've heard good things about flaring with rear-risers to help inflate faster or making quick turns before your brake lines are available to you. Also I have corrected a bag-lock situation by giving my rear-risers one good tug! It's a good thing I already had my hands on them
  9. LOL. ..... Yeah or into the neighbors yard... "You rotten kids! I warned you! This time, you're not getting your dead dad back!!!" My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  10. This is true, I've heard that around here, for every 100 first-time jumpers, only 1 stays on to become an experienced skydiver... Put competition pond swooping regularly on TV and you will see poeple going in on TV... lot's of them... This is not good for any skydiving discipline My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  11. Sure you have. How about "no skate boarding" signs! and I don't know about where you come from but here, when you get your motorcycle licence, it's graduated and you can't start on a bike bigger than 300cc!!! Apply that to skydiving and you will need X number of jumps before you are able to legally fly an X sized canopy!!! That's just crazy 'cause not only does it say that the 'faster progressing' students have to wait longer to downsize but also tht the 'slower progressing' students will be able to say "screw your advice" I have X number of jumps and so I WILL downsize! There are also rules on the roads of Canada about how many bikes can ride together at one time. There are specific regulations on the type of helmets you have to wear! and blah blah blah!!! We are talking about swooping right! That's not what skydiving is all about. And while I maintain that skydiving is not a sport for everyone, I further state that swooping is not a landing for all skydiver. People Die under functional canopies more than anything else in this sport... Dude we don't want to broadcast these accidents as "what skydiving is all about" ??? Nope but then again, race-car driving is not for everyone either I bet some people stopped racing cars... And I bet a bunch 'o regular day-to-day drivers thought twice about some of the risks they took behind the wheel
  12. OOPS! Look what I've started I was told this before I started and would have assumed you have been told this before too... All too true my friend but this still does not mean that everyone was made to do it/excell in it! I would recommend a tandem "ride" for just about anyone but even there, I'm not a TM and I'm sure you'll find some that would disagree and not want to take up just "anyone" Also, yes, television does make a sport mainstreem... Just look at the dramatic increase in first jump students after such movie releases as DropZone, Cutaway or (hopefully) XXX!!! Maybe "Let's keep it to ourselves" was a poor choice of words but I am not using them to stop whuffos from skydiving. I agree that the more skydivers there are in the world the better but you cannot deny that they are a special breed and not to be found just anywhere. By keep it to ourselves I mean let's try to avoid crazy regulations by keeping the sport safe... Also, not showing people Screaming into the ground/pond on a regular basis for competition on TV would be good. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  13. Good for you man! I may not have thousands of jumps yet but I understand the physics of small eliptical canopies... And a part of me will never beleive that cutting away from diving line twists should be a normal occurance... If you are cutting away for this reason on a regular basis, then there is something wrong either with your gear, packing or deployment attitude! Having said that, faced with the situation mentioned, I would likely try pulling my way as far up the risers as I could and go for silver. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  14. I went through S/L progression and found it quite easy. It cost less (particularly if you can get the job done on every jump and don't have to repeat any jumps) If you've done a tandem, you know what free fall is like (sorta) and if you think you can reamain cool whilst jumping out of a plane (nothin to it) you'll be free falling on your own in no time and will have spent less throught the S/L program. The other benefit of static line is that all your first jumps will be from 3000' or about that. All AFF students are required to do a Hop 'N pop as part of the pregression and I've heard some say that going from high altitude to low altitude jumps has freaked them out... the other way around is waaaaaaay cool! Just my $0.02CND. Congrats on you're first visit into the open sky... Now come claim you're own place in there!
  15. I don't know about you guys but I personally do not want any part of skydiving to ever become mainstreem! If it did, there would be all sorts of new and crazy regulations set in place because people are stupid. I used to say I'd recommend skydiving to anyone, 'cause I realized that rigged up to the static line machine, anybody can do it.... Dudes and Dudettes, skydiving is NOT for everyone, let's keep it to ourselves. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  16. Yeah I'm with Pamela, I would rather mine go to someone I know, who is close to me so that they keep it as opposed to the first sucker that had to deal with what was left o' me.... yikes! knock on wood eh? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  17. Have a look around, there have been numerous threads about skydiving/swooping in the x-games/olympics. The bigest problem is that all of the x games are sports that a kid can start doing today i.e. Mom buys you a skateboard and you start trying to grind the curb outside your home or even the dirt-bikes are easily accessable. Though a dirt-bike and a rig could compare in costs, you can take the dirt-bike out same day... how long does it take to get to free fall... That being said, it sure would be cool to see pond-swooping on a regular basis on TV My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  18. How serious is the 200 jump ruling? I have like 75 jumps or so and my friend is putting a necklace together for me... I don't want to be a jerk but I'd like to wear it when she's done. I know a few people who are still in static-line progression who bought them from our DZ and are wearing them now and nobody thinks twice about it! My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  19. I understand the concept... You'll note I said it would take an experienced freeflyer. I think this stunt was carefully thought out. You'll notice the FF made sure to fly in and take a spot really low on the bridle so as to get into the tandems burble as oppose to making it larger. Also, I could be on crack but it seems to me that this is a particularly long bridle? Anyway, there is a thread started about words to live by and some good ones are "Anything is possible" I would not have thrown this idea away if some people were willing to figure out how to do it relatively safely.... As these skydivers did. Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  20. Oh well, maybe the security is just screwy. Sorry about the warning then.
  21. That link is not accessable via my work internet connection "catagorized as mature" thus... Not Work Safe I'll have to check it from home My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  22. This seems safe enough for an experienced freeflyer. There is soo much tension in the bridle from the drogue that entanglement is near-impossible. You can see when he first get's on top of the tandem couple that he leans back a bit and pull himself back up using the bridle... it may aswell be a bamboo pole to him... Very cool, I'm sure jumping off the couple was pretty cool too.
