  1. Problem is, if a skateboarder kills himself, it's his issue. A skydiver can take other people with him, and thus the issue of drug testing becomes a lot bigger. I'm thinking more about the dirt-bike jumping in the x-games... If one of those guys happens to "go in" -to the crowd, he'd do just as much (if not more) damage than a swooping canopy pilot no? What about obstacle swooping for x-games... swoop the half-pipe? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

    x-games

Quotecoz ours aint the best spectator sport (even though id disagree) onlyway to enjoy it is to get of your arse and do it. Quote Freeflying could be part of the x-games and very audience-friendly with JumboTron screens. Just have the camera man hooked up (wirelessly of course
  3. Shhhh-weeeeT looking rig man. Please let us know what you think of the Cordura BOC... Does it feel different on the pull?. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  4. Quote I hope so too, and I hope we keep this in mind when we consider if we want 14 year olds doing tandems, or having skydiving in the olympics, or having it be part of the X-games. A high profile is not neccessarily a good thing. Quote 14 Year old doing tandems? Woa! I don't know about that one... the 16yrs limit seems young even with parental concent. The olympics can only test for performance enhancing drugs and I can't think of any durgs which could enhance skydive abilities can you?... Maybe speed if it would "slow" things down for your team to turn more points. But seriously, I agree with the "no high profile" business... Get yourself a nickname and use it as a call sign Do the freestyle dirt-bike jumpers, or the x-games skateboarders get drug tests? I bet there are a ton 'o pot smokers among them... 5. PARTY MIX!!! This is MY face while watching party mix: My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  6. So... pointing is the "pull" sign? I think I can handle that.
  7. Like I said, I had no problem getting out (we were not exactly at 2,500 yet) The way I figure it is as follows, what do you think? 2 grand and above: I'm out hop n' pop style 1 grand and below: I'm landing with the plane and in between: I'm out with silver handle off the step what about the call? I never heard "Get out!" from anybody which I've always drilled in my head as the magic words... Had I heard that, I'm positive I would have been like... GONE!... Hey where did Nick go??? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  8. At first, when I was looking at buying a rig from Sunrise rigging, I found this concept attractive. However, the more I thought about it, and talked it over with friends, the more I like the fact that the spandex system gives whole poket elasticity. Should your pilot chute "ball up" or something, the spandex pouch will stretch and let it come out... Not intending to scare but my budy calls the Cordura BOC "the deatpouch"... with a name like that, I'll pay the extra $30 every 200 jumps My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  9. that IS lucky that the container was snug enough to keep the Dbag in... Huh?? I no how to point but How do I indicate "pull immediately"? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  10. Yeah man, the cap was not secured and opened in the air... I mean there was alot of fuel but like you said, the plane was otherwise in tact and functional. If I was flying this load, I would have climbed a bit more, kicked everyone out and then landed. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  11. Hello all, I experienced my pre-secong (hopfully not) "emergency" exit a couple 'o weekends ago. It was not all that bad a deal but here goes. My 51st jump, I'm on the first load of the day and planning on doing a coach sit jump from 11.500' with a friend. There are two solos on the load with us (the load organizer and one hop 'n pop) Anyway, we open the door at about 2,500 to throw out a wind-drift and the load organizer spots fuel leaking from the wing. He looks to the pilot:"Is that fuel?" the pilot:"Yup... Shit!" So load organizer shouts:"That's a fuel leak, we're going!". Now he's sitting co-pilot (C182) and the hop 'n pop in front of me gets out. I look at my buddy and he's relaxing looking out the window when L/O says again:"we're going we're going!" Neither of us took him seriously at first, I mean two and half thousand feet and we have a fuel leak directly above the DZ... we both still had helmets in hand when I asked:"Are you serious?" At this point, I could see that he was nervous but the pilot wasn't so I put my helmet on quickly and got out... Had he or the pilot shouted "Get out!" I would most likely have been out and under canopy faster than I could figure out what was wrong but the magic words were never spoken.. I guess the point is that had this been a real emergency (being a pilot, I don't see a fuel leak at 2.5 directly above the DZ an emergancy), our response time SUCKED! I was comfotable getting out at this altitude (though my spectre takes it sweet-ass time opening sub-terminal). The hop 'n pop later told me his alti said just over 2... I replied that it must have meant just under 3 I was a little upset about being forced out of the plane when the pilot could have climbed to a "safer" altitude, let us out and still landed... Or... we could all have landed with the plane (Hrm.. not my first choice... if it was THAT bad!) Any thoughts? Anyway, got a free hop 'n pop out of it My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  12. If anything, this is good to hear. You never know when you are going to have to "Get Out!" unexpectedly... I had an "emergency" exit a couple of weeks ago... tell you what, I'll start a thread in the Incidents forum so you can read about it if you want... Trust me, you'll get plenty comfortable getting out anywhere above 2500'... My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  13. I put my left hand up and grab my hackey with the right (as if pulling) about 3 times on the way to altitude. I say about 3 times but really I mean everytime I wake up... Takes a long time to get to 12,500' in a cessna I follow each of these with looking, grabbing cutaway and silver with practice pulls. I don't have that many jumps but I've borrowed gear and everytime I do, I do the above about 50times before even getting into the aircraft! Just a thought, could be valuable if you are using backup gear or something like that, It never hurts to check your handles and make sure there nice and snug for the ride down... My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  14. I think if you are skydiving in the states, the most expensive words you could hear are "Air-lifted" or "Air ambulance" Don't you yanks have to pay for your own rides? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

    Woo hoo

[replyGreat tag line!...Anybody know where I can get one? I have a NoFear Tee with this statement on the back... I don't base jump (yet) but when I saw it, I had to have it. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  16. That's really cool, getting your folks into the air... How did they enjoy it? Yeah the website is http://ushga.org I don't know exactly where the comparisons are but if they are no longer on the site, I'm sure you could just email them via the "contact us" portion. So you are in the military? I spent two years in an Arty-reserve regiment here in Canada... It was a great experience... well several really My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  17. We pulled an old Kayak behind a truck wearing a rig and BIG para-comander.... called it "Sky-yaking" It's all fun and games 'til someone looses falls out of the sky .... then it's a sport eh? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  18. Also, great choice of container... the Infinity is just beautiful My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  19. Congrats on the new gear!!! I just got my first rig this year too. Wings container, Spectre 150, PD 143 and Cypress! I did indeed try it on like 15 times a day, unpacked/packed it everyday for a week. Anyway, enjoy it bud My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Uhmm...I beleive this belongs in Skymama's "what's good?" Thread!!! OH! My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  21. I'm with Clay man, these are just regular peole who get a free camping trip, television exposure and the possibility of a million bucks if everyone likes them. Even if they don't win, I'm sure the're all happy now... David letterman has every "survivor loser" on the day after they are voted off! Do you know what that pays? Easily, I would be in if asked... Hey, are they going to all get on the same load, fly around and vote eachother off the plane? lol My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  22. In a study conducted by the United States Hang Gliding Association comparing the accidental death rates of different activities, such as driving, power boat racing, scuba diving, mountaineering, boxing, aviation, hot-air ballooning and hang gliding, sky diving was found to have the lowest death rate per 100,000 participants. Check out their site at http://ushga.org My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  23. I've been told that about 87% of skydiving fatalities occur under fully-inflated/functional canopies. This goes along with what I tell any friends who question the safety of this sport: "most people who get hurt in this sport, do so because of their own mistakes or bad deccisions" I've also heard that on average (meaning if your packer is sober) 1 out of every 1000 deployments presents a non-flyable mal. Reserve parachutes have outstanding reputability. I find people are generally pretty impressed when I give them a good look at my gear and explain how it works. People just don't understand that we've come a long way since parachutes were nothing more than "free-fall deceleration devices" My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  24. Yeah, I mean no bad blood... Half of my family is from Quebec so I guess I have some frog-blood of my own! I think I'll attend the free-fly festival in Burnaby. I have but 55 jumps but I'm stable in sit and can move relative to another pretty well. I'm sure I'll learn quite a bit from quite a few people there... providing people will jump with me... eheh My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  25. HEY!! Those fires were burning in Montreal Quebec! Skydive Toronto was affected on Saturday and spent the whole day cursing "them damn frogs". We had a great day for jumping on Sunday mind you My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
