  1. I have a titanium rod inside my femur. Its now been about 10 months since it was put there. I asked my doctor when should it be taken off and he said not yet at least. He suggested it would stay there for atleast 1.5 years I want mine taken off. Mostly becouse if I fracture it again I might be screwed. Also I can still notice it in my pelvis when lying on a hard surface on my side. But thats not a big issue.
  2. I doubt it. The cost offset of paying another pilot may not cover it. That might be true ofcourse.. In Finland we fly with 2 pilots. It is becouse of the cheaper insurance. (I could be wrong though) Here the pilots wont get paid at all so its worth it ..
  3. Isnt it also a matter of insurance contract ? 2 pilots -> cheaper insurance 1 pilot -> More expensive
  4. As hanging headup place feet under the chest straps and let go your hands ?? Voilá
  5. Good advises here. 2-way 3-way, why not ? But I also see the bigger tracking dives very helpful even though they wouldnt be that fast. I.E. It is essential to learn how to get back up in the picture when you fall under. This you would not learn really on a 2-way. Also I think it is easier to see the effects of your bodypositions relative to a big way, that does not forgive your mistakes. Try everything.. Exit a little late and catch up etc..
  6. What canopy is that you are flying in the vid ?
  7. Are there any Italians out there ? What are my chances to jump in Milan area a bit before the olympics ? Is Skydive Tortuga active during the week too ?
  8. The few times that i have been at Space Center I found it to be much less busy than DeLand.. At least during the week.
  9. Pic is not taken by me and the swooper definetly is not me, but it such a nice pic I wanted to post the link... Its Mike Wittenburg at Zhills on around new years.. http://koti.welho.com/rverkamo/imagepages/image62.html
  10. Yeah.. Radix was nice ! Keep it up man ! one thing needs to be pointed out though: The bicycle jump in the movie was not the first landed bicycle jump ever. A Finnish guy called Jussi Laine did some bicyclejumps already on summer 1995. He did 2 jumps from a cessna 206 two jumps from an Otter and one from a LET. He landed everytime riding the bike. Lowest altitude he exited was 1500m (4900 ft)
  11. I think you cannot use Slinks in other reserves than PD.
  12. Patrick Passe shot Crosswind with a 16mm film camera. www.brunobrokken.com I always thought not all was shot by Patrick... ?? I guess the other cam flyers dont have a 16mm...
  13. Hi ! I have a bonehead optik with a side D-box. I would like to make it possible to change the agle of the camera (up / down) easily before each jump if necessary. I.E. I need different angle for tracking dives when on my back than on my belly and so on.. One possible solution I thought of is to make some sort of rails in the helmet wich would then allow me to adjust the angle by loosening the screws and tightening again.. probably only needs bigger washers with some "teeth" on the other side to keep the d-mox firmly attached. (see attachment) Does this sound like a good idea ? also If you have made similar configurations, please let me know how they work. Thanks ! EDIT: forgot the attachment
  14. Hey man ! Remember me ? I Visited skydive houston about a week ago.. How you guys doing ? BTW. Say Hello to Rodney from me ..
  15. Im a little bit amazed how some people with instructor ratings and lots of jumps havent given any thought to this matter. This is basic stuff. According to my memory in Finland this issue is taught to a student before they are off student status.. Here is a good link to this subject also: http://www.bpa.org.uk/...99/canopycontrol.htm And http://www.bpa.org.uk/...%20your%20Canopy.doc Especially under "optimizing glide"
  16. As I said earlier. Fronts only when upwind (a hard upwind) Please read my post again..
  17. Noice ! Has the 50m tube been tested yet ?
  18. I did a search and I came up with this : http://www.afn.org/skydive/sta/cancontrol.html It pretty much goes together with what I said earlier... Im sorry if I "failed to explain myself correctly" Chris .. I´ll be coming to NYC next week saturday. If your in town, lets go for a beer and talk more about this...
  19. Also applies to wind conditons wich are not as radical as in my example. Only the amount of imput for the sweet spot is different.
  20. Exactly. Isnt that what I said ? "if you have a slow canopy and its a strong upwind it might be more efficient to use frontrisers for a better penetration"
  21. simple example: You are going upwind full glide with a Xsqft. canopy and your canopy flys just a little bit faster (mph) than the air coming towards you. Canopy flys 10mph (relative to the air) Air is coming at you 9mph (relative to the ground) This means you are going 1mph relative to the ground. Now if you apply brakes or risers you will be flying less than 10mph and you will be staying still or going backwards. (relative to the ground) In the given conditions I would actually use some fronts to cover more distance. The degree of how much fronts I cant say, becouse it depends on the canopy and the windconditions... Did I make any sense ?
