How should we know ?

I just bought my self the biggest pair of rainpants I could find. They were size XXXL and the crotch came almost down to my knees.. I burned the holes, and went to the DZ. I taped my legs and waist very well (wearing my legstraps under my pants of course). I also wore a Helly Hansen Sailing jacket wich I thought would give me enough area in my torso and arms.. The exit was a blast.. I really felt when the legs inflated an how much control I had in my body.. But, a few seconds later I really had to do some work in order to stay in track and not turning Headdown.. I had too much area in my legs, compared to my arms and torso. I had to track keeping my arms under me in about 40 degree angle. That way I didnt go HD but I could still track someworth. The deployment was a bit scary as I was prettymuch HD when I threw my PC... My average was about 140 km/h. And I know I could get 100km/h pretty easy if I had enough area in my arms too.. I guess I have to go and make my self a track jacket.. Any ideas are welcome..

Ok, Im sorry I know this has been discussed too many times.. I just couldnt find answer to my question : Someone at my DZ (whos working in an airline company) told me rigs are not allowed as carryon anymore. Is this airline specific ?? How about if you separate your container, main and reserve ? Can you carryon them ? I dont have a cypres...

This could have also something to do with PD having to pay money to Brian Germain about the airlocks..

Here you can jump as low as you want as long as you are open at 1800ft./600m . I wouldnt want to throw my PC to the prop blast, if I would be jumping a highly loaded elliptical.. I would rather open lower just to be sure I have a decent body position...

As it was already pointed out, I was talking about ground carving.. Just a misunderstanding... Yeah , yeah.. We belive you..
-
Cool ! How will you wear your legstraps ? Will you cut holes for them ?
-
Im sorry but I would really like to see when someone carves 360 or even a 180 with a canopy loaded 1.1:1 That I could call skill..

Not according to these charts

Everyone used their main. Some people did collect some freefall time also.. No problems.. I was open at 600m

Yesterday 14 jumpers including me, were about to jump from a Twin Otter. Not much after take off I noticed the other engine RPM´s went down compared to the other one. (that time about 500 ft / 150m AGL ) I thought it was odd, and I asked others if they knew what it was. No one seemd to be concernd so I just thought the pilots were joking around or something. Not much later we noticed the other propellor was not spinning at all. I still thought they were just playing around, but then I noticed the pilots were pretty busy in the cockpit, wich didnt look too promising. Then the captain announced "we have lost power from the other engine. We will have to make an emergency jump at 2000ft." (that time we were 1000 ft./300m. AGL) The jump master briefed the students and at about 2300ft / 700m we hop&pop´d above the landing area. Everyone landed safely. There were firetrucks waiting close to the runway. But The plane continued to another airport, where they are able to fix what ever is to be fixed.. We bought beer for the pilots who had brought the plane down safely.. Now we just have to wait and see how long time it will take to have our otter back in the air... This was a fun jump.. Even though it was nothing dramatic, Im sure I wont forget for a while..

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> To further complicate your equation, Icarus Corporation changed their measuring method in January 2001. Before 2001 they used a method vaguely related to the old PIA standard, now they use a measuring method similar to Performance Designs. This is true. Anyway, to me it seems like Performance Designs is the one that measures differently. According to my memory most of the other manufacturers measures pretty close to the PIA standard.

How many jumps needs a beginner skydiver (girl 52kg/110lbs 60jumps) for jumping a sabre 120 ?? Some people might be okay at 50 jumps some people might not be okay even at 500 jumps.. Let an Instructor advise you at your DZ.

I would just blame my self if I ever used a packer whos "not quite yet a jumper" Interesting mal though. Luckily noone was hurt. Thanks for sharing..

I think Finland has maximum lifespan of 20 years. I cant say if this is good or not, but I sure as hell would never be jumping a 20 year old rig..

Also, they test EACH size they're offering. If you call and ask for some odd number or size they don't offer, they probably won't make it for you. They won't just scale it on a computer, each size has been tested and is known to have scaled correctly. I like that. So will the katana be sized like other PD canopies too ? 120 could actually be 135 sqft. and 107 could actually be only 99sqft. like with the spectre .. I cant understand their method measuring canopy areas...

Thats a little different from what I have. Yours seems safer... Heres some blurry pics of mine.. EDIT: The pics were in wrong format...

There is the "gath sky hat pack" . Its about 10-15 $ . I have one, and no problems yet, but theres always the change of riser sweeping it away when its placed on the outside of the helmet.

Im sorry, but do you really feel safe to jump the ball with only 250 jumps ?

If you fly in brakes, the canopy will not start "back sliding" I dont know what do you mean by collapsing completely.. but I believe Navigator´s brakes are set a bit longer so its not so easy to stall. But sure you can stall it if you wrap some of the line around your hands, but I do not suggest you do that. Dont be afraid to fly the canopy. Go out there and try what it can do. That way you will learn... Just remember to do it high enough.

Okay.. I have sometimes seen people spreading fronts as they are approaching. Maby it has not been intentional. Why do people spread rears then ?
-
When approaching in double fronts, do you at the same time spread your front risers and why ? Is it just to keep the canopy flying wider ?
