Cheapest dropzone in the world to skydive?
BMFin replied to bradp's topic in Events & Places to Jump
http://www.aerograd.ru/index_en.html EDIT: noticed u seemd to already know this... -
Sorry dude....i see your edit. All the same man. Before that early deployment even happened I was thinking, how can 18 people all be so careless. It was bound to happen. Did anyone get seriously injured on that load? What is this link doing in the freefly forum? and I must say, this is a great way to propagate stupidity. Oh ?? Im sorry.. I think theres a lot of things that look like fun, though they might be stupid. (especially if not planned carefully) I think doing a MR. Bill is one, towing a sofa behind a car also.. Some might say that jumping out of airplanes is stupid.. Also I did some searching and found YOU commenting a picture of the very same axit on another thread : Quote: "Ummmm 6 X 3 = 18 at the tailgate. Is that a C130? Looks like a blast though!!! " Why didn´t you say " how can 18 people all be so careless. It was bound to happen. " on that thread also ? Im just confused...

Man .. I was supposed to take part on that load, but I somehow forgot to put my name in the list... I saw a picture of the exit somewhere (probably at the DZ) wich was very nice !! Looks like fun ! EDIT: Now that I looked it again, I noticed someone had a premature main deployment... am I talking about the same dive done during the last year xmas boogie in Zhills ? I never heard about this... how did this happen ?

What causes other canopies to have more bottom end than others ?
-
Care to share with us wich thread exactly did you find intresting regarding this question ? I had a quick glance under the link you provided but Im too lazy to start reading them all...
-
I also hear all kinds of rumors like: You should only stick to one brand of DV tapes not to make the heads dirty. Other people only accept sony DV tapes to their camera. I have not yet heard any reasonable argumets to support these statements.

Thanks !!

This goes a little offtopic: No Im not sure... I think jumping out of airplanes is not really wise overall. Anyway. I have 300 jumps with 120 sqft. canopy and I feel like I have now got enough juice out of it. doing mostly 180´s. I also feel that Im now in the point when I will be more safe with a longer recovery arc. Thanks for the concern !

Anyone know how does a crossfire2 109sqft. fit to a mirage G4 size MT ? Thanks !

Ok. Thanks for the info. I guess dacron would be an option. I also read that precision uses dacron on the lower steering lines. Here someone mentioned that vectran would cut through dacron even though this wasn't very well argumented or proven. I guess dimensional stability isn't as important regarding steering lines as it is with the line set overall. How about Spectra ? I understand Spectra would be a bit more predictable in terms of wear, but not too thick.
-
Ok. I always thought "lower steering line" means the part of the steering line below the brake locking loop. What is the correct name for this part of the steering line ?
-
I understand some people have changed the lower part of their vectran steering lines to either thicker vectran or spectra, becouse of the difficulty to see the wear on the vectran. What would be the best solution ? Change the whole steering line (only the steering line) after 200 jumps ? I understand that the steering lines around the brake locking loop are most affected to wear becouse of the the guide ring exposure. But would only changing the lower steering line help enough ? Doesnt the guide ring also wear the part of the upper steering line equally around the brake locking loop ? EDIT: Spell check

Hey Kenny ! Im sorry I havent managed to send you a copy. I will try to put the Houston part of the movie on the net.. In the meanwhile, if you are interested, theres a new one here : users.evtek.fi/~anttia/HankoFreeflyX_Xvid.avi It was filmed in hanko Finland during one week by me and one other cameraflyer a few months back... (Xvid codec needed..)

ok... Thanks a lot for the help. This kinda does resemble the problem I have. Its hard to tell from the picture u posted, but you could be right on this. Anyway If I remember right the disturbace has always been exactly half of the picture vertically. Yours is only about 1/4 of the picture. I have to check this out... Thanks -Ville-
-
Yes. I have noticed the same thing when using sports more. But this is not the issue here.. Thanks anyway.. Also I will try to post a picture of it so we can see if someone has had the same problem...
-
Recently I have had some issues with my camera. Now and then I get some disturbance on the picture. The other half of the screen goes much darker and starts gleaming. (or something) This usually lasts only for a couple of seconds and goes away. But it sure makes those seconds of footage useless so I must get rid of it. My guess would be that somehow the "recording heads" are dirty and need to be cleaned. Am I right ? If correct how should I clean them/it ? Cleaning casette ? Also I would like to hear how to avoid this. There are all kinds of rumors like : you shouldnt use casettes from other peoples cameras or you should only stick to one brand of DV-casettes etc. are these rumors true at all ? Thanks !! -Ville-

Anyone know who is making the S-fly. I understand salomon has only been involved in designing... Am I right ? Tnx ! -Ville-

pro track vertical speeds in relation to horizontal speed
BMFin replied to billyg23's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
remember that while you may be able to track longer when achieving low vertical speeds. It will not necessarily result to the best horisontal speed neither to the best horisontal coverage. -
Its pretty strange how these posts get edited...
-
Could someone also please explain what are the differences on the autoexposure programs in sony DV cams ? Sports, beach, landscape etc... Is any of them more suitable for skydiving than others ?
-
Nice thing with such a unit (at least the one that I have used) is that there is a PAL-NTSC switch. So bringing footage in the project taken in other format is easy.
-
Doesnt it depend on the camera you are using ? I know someone who shoots sony 0.6 with sony HC22 (not sure about the cam model though) and it is not wide at all ... EDIT: it seems a nice lens though...
-
Track off 5 sec minimum before the TM opens...

Just out of curiosity, may I ask why ?
