  1. Maby so, but if for example I was given a xaos 88, Im pretty sure I could land it fairly accurate, but Im sure I might have some trouble landing it safely..
  2. I disagree... I dont think accuracy on certain canopy makes you qualified to jump the canopy. Its also how you can fly and land the canopy that counts. Sure accuracy is a very important aspect, but if he cant land the thing in the peas, I dont think he can land the bigger one either...

    Airlocks ?

If there are not really any cons with airlocks ? What would be the pros then ? Why arent all canopies made with airlocks ?

    Airlocks ?

What are the pros and cons of airlocks ?
  5. Im not sure what you mean by "hanging rig" , but if you mean those training harness systems, I would want to remind that they are not so close to the real thing. The velcro in those training harnesses wear out qickly and they become easy pretty quick. Also there is no pin to pull out when pulling the reserve handle. Just the handle. Thats just my experience with those systems I was trained with. ( I think it was a wings training harness )
  6. Why would it be easier to locate? Maby its a bit easier to pull, but lets remember thats not always a good thing when you are doing headdown at 9k. I cannot get my handles folded under in my rig even if I wanted to. There are a lot of different soft handles. Good ones and bad ones. First peal, then Pull ! (makes a huge difference) This might be true. Maby its better to keep D-rings on AFF rigs. Quote
  7. It was a good friend of mine from our DZ. All I know about the incident for fact so far is she never opened her reserve. I dont want to start speculating what would be the reason for the incident. Fact is that a good friend is now gone. I have all respect for her, but I still dont belive this solution is the right one. What if she would have had a D-ring ? Would the D-ring be banned then also ? What about when a D-ring causes a premature reserve deployment ? Will it be banned then too.
  8. Due to a late incident in Finland, the authorities have decided to ban soft reserve ripcords. (for now on). I do not feel quite the same about this one. I think soft reserve ripcord improves my safety in the air, and now its not allowed. Are they soon going to ban soft cutaway handles too ? Anyone who has soft ripcord, what would you do if it was suddenly banned by the FAA or by some other authority ? Would you write a letter to the FAA about the matter etc. or would you just quickly change your handle to a metal one and continue like nothing had happened ? Opinions please !
  9. Hey ! Lets remember that Felix is bringing a lot of publicity to our sport. This can be only a good thing. Theres nothing bad on promoting your self. Is it somehow taken away from you if someone gets publicity, and sponsorships ? I notice a lot of people already have a strong opinion on this guy even if they have never met him. Now I havent met Felix and that is the reason why I wouldnt judge the guy. Even if I would have met him, and if I would not like him for some reason, I would propably keep it to my self.. Well Heres another one : What does one have to do in order to become hated ? -->Become famous Anyone else smell the jealousy in the air ?
  10. Just buy the right gear and pack it right...
  11. Even if you dont swoop, it might be good to have those loops. I.E. if you are flying against wind and trying to get further you might want to use front risers..
  12. According to this chart, only the Sabre is measured about 5% smaller by PD. Spectre sizes are totally different. For example 107 Spectre seems to be 99sqft. and 120 seems to be 135 sqft. 36sqft. difference when going just one size up. Stiletto seems to be measured differently too..
  13. By paying attention to what those who came before me have to say, they were there and I believe them. There have been at least two cases of the Cypres misfiring during the short time that I have been in the sport. Don't believe that it doesn't happen just because Airtec doesn't publish it. Please don't believe that your Cypres is infallable. - Jim I also hear there has been misfires. I just havent seen any documentation of anykind. Its not that I wouldn´t belive they happen, its simply that I would be very intrested about hearing some details. Here is a thread I started about this matter some time ago. I dont know how you document accidents/incidents in US, but it seems you dont do it very much.. In Finland we make documents every time someone has a reserve ride or even just a sprained ankle.. I think this is really a good system.
  14. Are they only documented by Airtec ? How do you know there are dozens of them ?
  15. One guy called Jussi Laine made a skydive with a bike. He also deployed and landed with it. (made the flair sitting in the saddle) I know this wasent BASE but it was a cool stunt anyways.
  16. BTW. Anyone know where could I see videos of openings with a tube ?
  17. I think its okay, but I dont think its anything special. Its just another way of making the BOC. I dont see a reason why it would be any better than spandex. Only thing that matters in my opinion is that the pouch is tight enough.
  18. Okay.. I now have the same feeling some parents might feel on behalf of their children when they are asking questions like where do babys come from...
  19. Just see the page source.. Most operating systems and browsers -> Press : View -> Page Source From there you can see the directory..
  20. Where do the letters PUD come from ?
  21. I haven't seen that, but it sounds like it's very secure!
  22. It´s so simple If you are a good canopy flier, no problem. If you are a bad canopy flier, yes problem.
