honestly i think its pretty cool..he is well aware of the risks (unlike MJ) and his kid will be handling other lethal animals before its six birthday. Our society has become FAR to protective fo its own good... you realize that wuffos would say the same about letting DZ owners who let their teenager skydive, just imagine all the champions we wouldnt have now... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Limp Bizkit, Creed worst bands of year (yesieeeeeeee)
Zenister replied to skydivexxl's topic in The Bonfire
well as has been pointed out, there is a difference between 'liking' something and it being 'good' music.. that was a music poll by musicians making evaluations on quality, technique and performance.. most people have problems admitting they 'like' music/art/literature that for all other intents and purposes is still bad.. personally there is quite a few ear candy bands/songs that have a special place for me, but i'll never pretend that fact that i like it makes it any better music than it is... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
rather easily.. for starters why dont you look at the medical costs of heart disease, kidney & liver failures, strokes & stress related illness..... now add a significant portion of injuries as the three behaviors mentioned have been proven to reduce both the incidence and recovery times when they do occur. In fact those behaviors are the most commonly recommended courses of action by ALL doctors for nearly every American under direct supervision or otherwise.. now (if you want some more specific data) take it a step larger and look at the benefits and health records of those who continually practice such habits on their own...say professional athletes (for example although there are others) and compare their health care costs ( those not directly related to the risks involved in sports participation) to those of the average American i'm sure you can see where this is going...i'll do a quick search for some statistics later, but you should really look at them for yourself, and make your own decision about what is best for your life..some people would rather do other things than sleep, enjoy rich foods drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes, at the risk of a shorter lifespan, and those are all decisions they should be allowed to make for themselves, and the exact choices the government is deciding for you by telling you what you should and should not ingest.... the government is a propaganda machine, far more interested in paying lipservice ( see we are 'doing something') about 'headline' items than actually improving the lot of the average citizen, or retaining the fundamental freedom of choice all individuals are entitled to. Its sole responsibility to the individual is to make sure information is accurate and available, and then to make recommendations, not to chose what you will have for breakfast everyday at 0900 for the rest of your carefully monitored and tightly controlled life (such as it would be) ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Who would choose skydiving as a career?
Zenister replied to SpeedDog's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
i would say you are 'richer' than you think you are, if you are living the path you feel passionately about.. all around the world, everywhere i go no one understands me no one knows, what i'm trying to say.....but you...you speaka my language... perhaps a great part of it is (as i once heard a wise woman state) 'finally knowing where the people from my planet are" i cannot say there is much i'll truly miss about the way i've been living my life now....there is always more money, there is not always more time to enjoy the days you have.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
So long as you are saying as well that Health Care should also be no business of the government then I am with you.. so are you for mandatory healthy diets? physical training regimes? enforced sleep hours? please..the lack of those in most Americans life is responsible for FAR more health care costs than all the drugs in existence, and yet you have no issues with taking away the most basic freedoms simply because it doesn’t affect your personal habits?? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

is all a matter of context.. compared to your average wuffo skydiving is extreme, but so are LOTS of other activities that many many people still participate in.. as a skydiver, flying a big docile canopy means you are not extreme. Tandem passengers are not extreme at all, they are simply cargo. the only one who can really claim the title of "Extreme Skydiver" (and i would imagine he cares nothing for it) would be Bill Cole aka Chuteless if your doing it to 'be cool', no matter what it is, then you are not extreme either....your a conformist.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

UN inspectors were only looking in known and suspected facilities. We on the other hand are damn near turning over every rock and suspicious crevice in the country with the help of many locals who no longer have to fear for their families disappearing in the middle of the night simply for speaking to the 'wrong' person...how much 'cooperation' do you really think was possible while Saddam was in power?? i'd wait a while longer before forming a complete opinion on the existence of WMD ... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

ok..i realize if you've never seen one it might be confusing, but otherwise i would hope most everyskydiver has enough common sense to figure it out... of course i've also had someone ask (who overheard a conversation about off dz landings and how to determine wind direction) "how does the grass tell you which way the wind is blowing... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

he did, but its a much older thought than that..and expressed in much the same language..i'll dig it out when i get back to the real world..as all the searches i've done on the net lead to the matrix... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

good thing your not an elected official!! that kind of kneejerk ignorant response "we have to DO something!! what about the children?!?"to a threat is exactly how we got the lovely system we have, that still does little to nothing to change your actual threat level while flying.. someone needs to wake up and do a bit of research before proposing such misguided fear responses... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
geee cant expect people to control what they ingest on their own now can we? whats next?? eggs? after all they are proven to cause high cholesterol and we all know high cholesterol has led to more deaths than ephedra ever will... thanks guys! how much money do you bureaucrats have invested in the black market anyway?? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

we've long since proven that we can tell mother nature what to do whenever we wish..she may not like it, and may take a few of us out, but we still breed faster than she can kill us. yes! we are running out of room, and wiping diversity off the planet for our own selfish needs....Over population is the 5th horseman and he holds the door open for the other 4... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

You missed the part about people who have been 'proven' guilty being exhonerated later. If they're dead, how do you correct that error. At least if they were in prison, they could at least be let out. The system has errors, mistakes are made. Why put a final, irreversible solution in place within a less than perfect system? fix the system first, it will never be perfect but its can be magnitudes better, and i am not referring to 'iffy' convictions, i'm referring to cases were there is NO DOUBT, and yet we still continue to feed house a large number of these monsters, and at a better standard of living than many free people, for no good purpose whatsoever.. also you are still ridiculously applying a past failures as a 'standard' by way of argument, this is an invalid justification, what murder case now does NOT involve DNA evidence? You do realize the first two steps they cite as costs would occur regardless of the sentence, and so rightly should be excluded from consideration as ‘expenses’ attached to the death penalty alone What are the actual costs of an execution? Now compare that to the costs of long term imprisonment? Appeals are not part of those costs, of course there is more publicity (and therefore more money to be made) in fighting the higher profile death penalty cases….which simply indicates that many lawyers are more interested in money than justice and that the system still sorely needs to be reformed ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

whats that i hear? ah...must be the wammbulance... there is of course an easier answer, but requires you to be able to control your clicky finger..which may be to much to ask... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

you missed the part about 'proven' or perhaps just ignored it to build your strawman.. i'm not passing judgement here beacuse the facts are not out and the investigation has barely begun... more to kill them because the system needs an major overhaul, no arguments there along with quite alot of our useless self serving bureaucracy while were at it but once you get past reasonable doubt into absofuckinlutely guilty DNA/video/200 witnesses etc... the endless appeals should stop. bullets are cheap, but honestly depending on the crime it should be painful.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
